Jared and his team were amazing from start to finish. My dad passed and I had no idea what I was doing. They made the whole process so smooth for me and my family. They were quick to respond to my many questions and never made me feel like I was asking too many questions. I had my dads glasses and realized last minute that they were scratched. I was concerned because the service was the next day and it was an open casket service. One of the lovely staff members said she was going to call an eyeglass company to see how she could fix them without damaging them. They just went above and beyond on multiple occasions. Jared and one of the other lovely staff members came to the burial. It was very touching. I also love that they are family owned. I know you people see the 5 stars here but that's because the families that these people disrespect and screw out of their money at one of the worst times I'm the families lives can't post a negative review because they are in LAWSUITS with these scumbags. The head of all that is the Owner , Jared. He seems well spoken and to care about your needs but this guy is the worst of the worst . A Wolfe in sheep's clothing to say the least . My wife's mother passed in Aug. And she decided to go with Tracy Memorial. When she met with the people she was very distraught and they took advantage of that . First off she requested an immediate cremation, they decided to embalm her( as hasn't her religion) because a family member called them and told them they wanted a viewing . This person has since burglarized my mother in-laws house taking everything of value When my wife went to the services she was so distraught by seeing her mother in a viewing she had to leave her mother's belongings everything she brought was given to a stranger and was told my wife was told oh well we made it a point to have a meeting with Jared after the fact. What he told my wife before the funeral and what happened at the funeral were two separate things he admittedly took lame and they shouldn't have given anything to anybody other than her because she was power of attorney so Jared said he would discount the funeral not charge for the cremation or not charge for the embalming basically try to take care of us but ended up everything ended up being a lie he told us that her mother hadn't been cremated yet and was still in the back which was a lie and the charges that he charge it for everything to do with the funeral she got charged for from her mother's insurance and even had to pay some so just let everybody know there's a lawsuit being filed against this company Jared is the worst businessman in the city of Tracy and takes advantage of people at the lowest points and if you read this let him know Karma is a mfer and it will be paying you back soon bud not to mention the investigation that's going on against your funeral home I hope you go out of business and stay out of business and remember Karma will come knocking read more

They were very helpful, kind and very understanding at my time of loss.I didn't feel rushed or any ill feelings. They waited late for me to pick up my mothers ashes and even helped me out the urn in the car and seatbelted her in. They shared stories of their own loss as well. We held the memorial service for my mom here and everything went smoothly. I was in charge of the picture slideshow and video presentation, and this place has a pretty good A/V setup. Jared just transferred all the pictures and video into his laptop, and he handled it from there. There are 2 TV's in the chapel to display the slideshow, and 1 TV in the reception room. They also have a webcam in the chapel where you can live stream the memorial service (for a fee), which was great during this COVID pandemic, enabling family members from far away to be part of the service. They also let you use a large refrigerator in the reception area, which was great in keeping the drinks cool. read more

If I could give 6 stars, I would. I lost my husband unexpectedly and had only dealt with a portion of these services for my father. We first went to the chapel by the cemetary for pricing and then called TMC to compare. TMC was half the price, but no expense was spared. Jared and the sweet ladies who work with him were so accommodating, and I never felt pressured to spend extra. They were available at all times and handled everything with dignified grace. They were very patient even after changing my mind 32 times. Jared makes you feel like an extended family member and offers cheaper options to choose from if they are available. The services were amazing, and every time I looked for assistance, the ladies were within 6 feet of me anticipating my needs. It's a complete one-stop shop. Transport, death certs, chapel services with gathering room, recorded services, photo slideshow option, funeral handouts, ash storage keepsakes, photos, cremation, urns, custom headstones, website obituary, coordinating with local florist, and delivery to cemetary. The most important service they provided was compassion and guidance during the entire process. I hope you never need them, but if /when you do- I highly recommend Tracy Memorial Chapel. read more

Tracy Memorial Chapel was AMAZING! Jared was extremely supportive and helpful. I went to Jared grieving and in shock my brother was murdered. I had no idea what I was looking for ive never had to do this before and Jared helped me every step of the way. He made planning the funeral so easy. Thank you to Hotchkiss Mortuary for an incredibly beautiful service for my husband. Every detail was handled perfectly, from running the music and slideshow to making sure the cuffs on his shirtsleeves were rolled up just as he always did. Louis and his team were caring and attentive, and I received lots of compliments on how lovely the chapel is. I had some questions about the National Cemetery where my husband was to be buried, and Louis followed up for me and kept me informed along the way. The loss of a loved one can be a terribly overwhelming time, but it was so helpful that my husband and I pre-planned our arrangements with Hotchkiss years in advance. As Jared and his wife continue to slowly remodel and update the facility, they're maintaining the charm that makes it such a lovely place to plan your memorial. Unfortunately, my review from June 2019 has been moved to the hidden, unrecommended reviews section, so my thoughts about my personal service planning experience after my mom's passing aren't readily visible, but my review can be read if you click in that section. In short, I have to reiterate that if you want an intimate, personal service for your loved one, and the assistance of an owner who truly cares about helping you transition through an emotional time, Tracy Memorial Chapel is the place. I very recently had the sad and emotionally challenging task of making arrangements for my mother's passing, and I'm so grateful for the help and guidance I received here. I was a duck out of water, and I did not know where to go or what to do, and I had a hundred questions. My initial call was after hours, and I expected an answering machine or a service, and I expected to leave a message for a return call the next business day; however, the owner himself called me back immediately and held a patient, unhurried conversation with me over the phone, answering all of my questions with kindness and patience. The conversation left me encouraged, and gave me much needed information to process for making decisions that were ahead of me. Sadly, the timing was perfect, as my mother passed within days of that telephone conversation with Jared; however, because of that conversation, I knew exactly what to do. In our face-to-face meeting with Jared, my sister and I were each able to ask other questions, make arrangements, and were gently guided through the process. Again, he was patient and unhurried, but completely professional. In the days that followed, he and his staff kept in close contact with me. They checked and double checked information to be accurate, allowed me to proofread the information folder they created for my mother (which was absolutely beautiful, by the way), they listened to me and they heard me, and they were on time with every deadline offered. Jared even took calls and answered questions from my out-of-state siblings who had questions of their own that they wanted answered. Jared also allowed us to tour the facility and the accommodations, and he shared with us the rich history of the chapel. The building is old and beautifully maintained, with stunning architectural arches and stained-glass windows, a traditional pipe organ, and offers the intimacy that can only come from a smaller (but not small) chapel environment. I have made several attempts to contact him with no results . I read on yelp that Jerod just honored a will with a white family so he is aware of the laws regarding wills in California. Jared went above and beyond to help create last minute items for us and made sure all technology devices were working correctly prior to our service time. There is nothing more difficult that losing a loved one. Weather it be sudden or expected. The pain is still there. Jared was such a blessing during this time. Although it was knows for about a week that I would need to be making these arrangements for my father, I just couldnt bring myself to do it. If I made the arrangements then it was real. It was happening. Set in stone (quite literally) that he would be gone. When the day came and my father passed, after notifying all family, Tracy memorial chapel was the first place I called. He was recommended very highly by my husband who had worked with Jared in the past in law enforcement, and I can say without a doubt that he made this part of the process the easiest part. He came to the house directly and brought a plethora of options with him to make sure i got exactly what i needed for my dad. Once leaving our house he went directly to the hospital and picked up my father. Making me feel so much better that he wasnt just sitting at the hospital. Jared was so attentive to my needs and processed everything quickly and smoothly. Because it doesnt end with a funeral. There is much more after that to deal with. I am so blessed to have had jared in our lives during this difficult time. He is decently priced and has amazing customer service. But most of all he understands. During these times it is very easy to be vulnerable and taken advantage of. I was not pressured into anything I didnt want. I told him of my needs and he delivered 100% of that. I never wrote any review before for Yelp, but I needed to share this. My mother passed away suddenly, and we've never gone through this before. The hospital told us to select a mortuary to transport her to that same day. Our finances are very limited right now, and I called Hotchkiss Mortuary in Tracy to see if they could help us figure out what we should do and what we could afford. I spoke to Luis. My mother definitely did not want to be cremated. Luis said about $6400 for everything, including the $1850 casket. this is more than we have so I asked if there was anything else we could do to reduce the cost. Luis was apparently getting impatient with me and said, "well, if you want a cardboard and cloth casket you can have that for $1050". His tone was that of annoyance. I was shocked, not only that he would say that to me like that but also, would he actually sell us a cardboard casket for $1050? When I hung up with him he threw out a very insincere, "sorry for your loss, brother". I've met used car salesmen with more tact and compassion. BTW, I called Fry Memorial Chapel, oh my gosh, what a difference! They worked with us. So nice and only $4800, and no cardboard. read more

We only use this place for funerals and cremation. They have done two funerals for us over the years.I have them set up in my will for when I die. I only want them. We also took out a funeral plan from them and when the time came , everything was covered. They are so good. Very nice people work there. They explain everything in detail and also helped set up arrangements for outside services for a veteran. Wonderful. read more

My grandpa died recently and we are not a rich family so mostly we had to choose the mortuary on who would work with us financially. Hotchkiss ended up being the best price but also ended up being the best guy for the job. He was absolutely wonderful and very kind. My grandfather passed away early this month my aunt called around got different info and let my grandmother choose what she would like to do for his arrangements. She decided to go with Hotchkiss and I am so happy she did. Luis was amazing for multiple reasons. For one hes repeatedly told us I am not a bank im not here to take your money im here to help you and thats exactly what he did. He understood we were on a budget but wanted to give my grandfather the proper send off which included an open casket viewing and cremating him. He also dismissed a minor outburst I had with a family member (emotions are high when you loose someone) and just kept going as if nothing had happened which I was extremely grateful for as I was extremely embarrassed after the fact. We chose to do a viewing on Tuesday and the service on Wednesday which was perfect it not only gave us time to say goodbye but I had lots of family from the east coast fly in and we all were able to just be there for my grandma as she said goodbye. One of our biggest concerns was the makeup we didnt want my grandpa to look overdone and we were very pleased with the out come he looked amazing I couldnt have asked for anything better. He looked at peace you couldnt even really tell he had any makeup on (which I know he did because he had gotten jaundice before passing) The casket provided by Hotchkiss was beautiful and I think well worth the money ya its a large expense but the last memory I have of my grandfather he looked so peaceful and for that I am so grateful. During the viewing and service Luis came and checked in a few times but gave us our space was not intrusive at all. At the end of his service our pastor had put together a slide show of images of his life which was displayed beautifully on a large projection screen. Overall I was extremely pleased with Hotchkiss and Luis he made this horrible time in our life that much easier and we are so appreciative of that! read more

My experience at Hotchkiss was wonderful, first before me and my family chose a place to have my mother cremated, my sister called both Hotchkiss and Frys Memorial to get pricing. She said that Hothckiss was cheaper and the lady she talked to , Naomi, was very nice. So we decided to go here for the services we needed. When we got there we spoke with Naomi and she was so kind and honest. She gave us all the prices for everything and totaled it out for us, we were ready to do the paperwork and everything that needed o be done when she said "but if you go to this other place (in French camp) it will be cheaper, i know many of us are struggling financially and any cheaper routes are helpful" it turned out that it would be almost $1,200 less than what she was quoting us, she said "you wont get the same closeness and compassion with them like with us, they are all business but that's a lot of money that could be saved" (and it really did help us out a lot). We were so surprised at how honest she was with us and couldn't believe that she was sending us to another place that was cheaper because we know the money would have been helpful to them. We actually didn't want to leave but because of how hard things are financially we really didn't have much choice. However, we did come back to have some memorial cards made, we felt we needed to help them out in some way as our gratitude for them being so honest with us and helping us out. The cards turned out beautifully and when I picked them up I met Louis, who was so friendly and kind as well. I had a nice chat with him before we left and he was so understanding and compassionate. Both Naomi and Louis have such kind hearts I wish the best to them and Hotchkiss and would highly recommend Hothckiss to anyone looking for funeral services/guidance. read more
