I was faintly aware of them, as I have seen sale ads for it in the past, but I never knew exactly what or where they were. It was a sale ad that drew me into this Newport branch. I was interested in cowpots: extremely biodegradable pots for starting plants in, and in vegetable seeds. They have the same brand name seeds as you see in a lot of stores, but also create some of their own, for bulk or regular purchases. They have a large selection of items for farmers, whether large farms or backyard gardeners like me. So I browsed for a while, chose some seeds and cowpots, and was on my way. Oddly enough, when you first walk in there appeared to be a fairly significant hardware section off to one side, so I guess combining reasons for shopping is feasible. I am sure I will return there.

When my grandmother and I visited this store yesterday, there was a dead parakeet at the bottom of…read moreone of the cages. The display said 'Baby Parakeets.' A baby parakeet was dead, and there were two other birds in there with it, surely at risk of becoming ill themselves. We had to inform an employee that they had a dead bird in one of their cages. They didn't seem upset or concerned, merely inconvenienced. They removed the bird, but it was very upsetting to see that they had let a baby parakeet die and go unnoticed. There were also the typical pet store issues-cages were too small, fish were in those horrifically tiny bowls, and the animals obviously didn't seem well cared for. I'm just beyond disgusted that a young bird that should be able to live up to 15 years with proper care was dead before even getting a home. It broke my heart. This place is disgusting.
