More of a "educational moment" if you will. 2 years ago, I purchased a 35 gallon fish tank from this location. I originally wanted only 2 fish and was planning on spending 50 bucks, but I'm a sucker for a educated salesperson. The employee talked to me about why you need more than two, then about the water amounts needed... before I knew it I was in the hole for 400 bucks. Cut to a year later.. I'm in love with these fish. Just 3 guppies and 2 otos, but I have Everything to keep them happy and healthy..nice big tank all the amenities. All of the additives you name it. One day, one of the guppies died. We were heartbroken. They all have names mind you. SUSIE IS DEAD! We didn't replace her. Yet. A few months passed. I could see that the other guppies looked sad. REALLY. They used to dart around, now they Swam very slowly. (IM GETTING TO THE POINT. I swear.) The kids are really upset because they think the fish are dying, so I got in the car and headed to PetSmart. Surely the employee was still working there....nope. It was different employee. Nice enough person. Told them I needed a guppy and was quick to catch the one I picked out.....however (HERE IS THE TEACHING MOMENT) they scooped up a snail as well. They said "ooh a hitchhiker! " I said "oh no, thanks I'm ok on the snail." They gross me out. They INSISTED that it would be a GREAT addition help clean my tank. Ok. Sure. That snail, smaller than a dime... has destroyed my tank. It has laid egg upon egg and all of my fish have died, save one oto. Within the span of months my beautiful aquarium is garbage. I can't get rid of them. There are THOUSANDS of eggs. I S&@t you not. There are about 20 big snails and thousands of babies at this point. They have broken the filter and destroyed my investment. This is unacceptable. The only thing left to do is trash it. We are DEVASTATED. Some compensation would be great, but we'll see how that goes.

There's not a huge pet population here but if you do decide to adopt one of the deserving cats or dogs here, you can give a shelter animal a happy life. Bunnies, cats, dogs, guinea pigs - they have them all and most of them are right out where you can easily see them. A couple with medical issues are more isolated in the back, but still in big clean living cubes (yes, aka cages but what are you going to do?) with plenty of food, water and comfy beds and toys. It's clean inside, doesn't smell grotty, and on the weekdays that I was there, there seemed to be plenty of staff and volunteers to help with visitors and animals alike. The staff members that I spoke to were personable and well informed on each animal. The volunteers were chatty, maybe a little too chatty with each other while I waited for answers but hey - they don't get paid and you get what you pay for, so... The adoption counselor that I dealt with was very helpful in answering any and all questions I had about several animals and was very patient on my visits; the administrative office person who was sharing space with a cat (who needed a little extra reassurance) was very personable and so kind to the cat who liked me enough to come home with me! Everyone I saw there obviously cares about the animals and to be perfectly honest, I'd rather that the animals waiting for homes are shown more attention than me or anyone else roaming through the building, so complaints of poor customer service are of little consequence to me. Acknowledge me and I'm good! The adoption process was simple, the staff is good, and I'm sold. Go and find a friend for life!

You have to sit with someone and tell them what you are looking for in a dog and they match you up! Can't believe it! No wonder why there are so many dogs being euthanized now, you can't even visit to see if you like any of them first! Won't be going back to this place. Why are they even open if you can't see the animals?

(And while they're swell to look at, this isn't a petting zoo, so keep your hands to yourself.) Inside the store, there's a heckin plethora of stuff for every animal in your life: crickets, seed and nectar for birds; treats, chews and kibble for dogs; oats, salt wheels and - oh, I don't know - milk thistle for horses? There are live chicks for purchase. There's a house bunny (hello Wilbur!). There's event a consignment room, with mostly saddles, crops and other riding equipment. Did I mention farm fresh eggs from their onsite coop? Well, I just did. Super cool place, and I'm surprised I snagged the first to review. But I did, so let's have a farm party!
