I am sure you have guessed it by now (dear lord, I would hope so. This is a Costco review, after all. If you are confused already, let me quote Rob Reiner's mom and say: "I'll have what she's having") Yep, you guessed it! Costco. The unexpected hero of this road trip pitstop. After almost 3 hours of driving, it was time for a much-needed break. I pulled off onto a promising exit, yet nothing looked like a great option to meet my urgent necessities. Then, gleaming like an oasis in the desert, I saw it: The Evansville Costco. Upon first glance, I could tell this Costco was fresh and new and would probably be a great experience. The outside of the building, with its brick and stone facade looked both high quality and also inviting. I must admit that this review is incomplete, as I simply visited two very important areas of the store: the restroom and the food court. Yet, I could easily see the rest of the building and I'm sure this Costco doesn't disappoint. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained. After that relieving experience, I made my way to the food counter for a tasty all-beef hotdog combo. With an empty bladder and a full stomach, I was ready to get back on the road. I have probably been in or through Evansville only once or twice in my life. While I have been through Southern Indiana many, many times on drives to Florida, I always take I-65 and haven't traveled far enough Southwest to drive through Evansville. But since Indiana finished a large, new section of I-69, this was the best way to travel to visit a buddy who moved down to Tennessee. If you ever find yourself traveling down 69 on your way through Evansville and you need a nice place to take a break, may I humbly suggest the most beautiful Costco I've ever seen! Maybe pick up a rotisserie chicken for the road.

Unlike other locations this one has only a single pump in each lane but they do have 12 lanes available. I did see multiple people using the "wrong" side and stretching the hose to fit their caps on the opposite side of their vehicles with no problem. The lines seemed to be moving rather quickly probably because of the single pump per lane. In other words, I didn't have to wait for two people to fill up and move on. The lines were not overflowing like at my home Sam's in Greenwood. Today's fuel price was $3.17 for regular which was 16 cents cheaper than the gas stations across the street. One thing I do wish for is a faster processing on the screens. The screens on the pumps seem to be slow or hesitating more than other fuel stations of other brands.

The second time was less easy because we didn't bother to keep the bucket or make a note of its info before getting rid of it. Another mistake was not registering with the store which would have kept a record of our purchases. Lessons learned. Only one gal (Lisa) was working that afternoon, but she was super nice, knowledgeable, and patient. We were banking on the shop having our paint info so we walked in w/o any samples. We learned we were not in the system, so we talked w/ Lisa about how to get the best samples. All this might have been pretty obvious to anyone wanting to paint something a specific color, but we were exhausted that day and really wanted someone to just instruct us. Armed with ideas on how to get a good paint sample (one vertical, one horizontal) we left and returned several minutes later. Lisa was able to match the colors with high certainty and we were content to agree with her assessment. We bought a bunch of other items for deck painting and left w/ our purchases. While Lisa was helping us, she was also fielding phone calls and had partially helped 2 other folks with another guy patiently waiting. All throughout she was extremely polite and genuine. That girl was working HARD. Of course the weather hasn't been the best for a painting endeavor but at least we have our supplies at the ready.

A few people have reported this to corporate as well. They don't care either. Blocking handicapped spaces should get them cited... Yes, even in a "private" parking lot.
