Needless to say, I LOVE my kitty, but since this is a review of the shelter, not my cat, I will try to keep the fact that WE LOVE OUR KITTY out of it. :) This shelter is fairly small compared to others I've been to. It's one of the cleanest ones I've ever encountered-- very few dog cages with piles of poop in them and the cat boxes were all clean and tidy. It's obvious that the shelter doesn't have much money-- there is no vet in-house and both the cats and dogs have fairly small cages. The tiny dogs and puppies fair a little better and at least have a blanket or something to curl up on. When we were looking at both the cats and dogs, very few notes were given about the animal, but they were very nice about letting us take out whatever we wanted to play with. When we adopted, we were shocked to learn that they let the animals leave the shelter without being spayed or neutered! Wow! That goes against everything I assumed about shelters, but hey, we got our cat, and I am happy. She was given food and a place to sleep while she was there, although she came out with fleas, ear mites, round worms and giardia (but it's likely she came to the shelter with most, if not all of that). Still, they get an extra star for all the hard work they put in and working with what they've got-- it's not an easy job to see all these animals everyday, I am sure. The fact that they don't ask you any questions about what kind of pet parents you might be speaks, I think, to a level of desperation on their part just to have anyone willing to take one of these furry friends home. I am not someone who would ever, EVER buy a dog or cat when there are so many at the shelter-- there are too many animals in need to even think about it. But there will be some start-up costs if you choose to adopt from here and I would recommend taking your new family member to the vet *immediately* to get checked out (ours was at the vet within hours). Even with the costs considered, there is something about getting a pet from a shelter-- somehow they know you've rescued them-- and they become the most loving, loyal, sweetest companions you'll ever have.

They were once good breeders but have since gone way downhill in recent years. Unfortunately, with my most recent purchase, the snake developed an RI shortly after I brought her home, and after a vet visit and sending off a swab she tested positive for Nidovirus. I tested a couple other animals in my collection and they tested negative, so I know it was not from me. One of the owners didn't know what Nidovirus was when I confronted him on the matter. He said he shouldn't need to know because "none of their snakes are sick." When I made the test results public, they called me at like 9-10 PM to try to guilt/scare me into taking down the posts. Please do not do business with them. Do not go to their shows. You could be exposing yourself to mites and who knows what else.

Needless to say, these people are amazing. Before I got my puppy from this beautiful place, I have only had rescue animals, so I was highly concerned because I was clueless about what to look for, either good or bad or anything. So I went to google for other people's advice. The biggest factors that came up were 1. Go to where the puppies are being raised to see them in person 2. See if mom and dad are on sight 3. Make sure it's clean, safe, and that it isn't overrun with dogs 4. Look and truly see if the dogs are healthy 5. You are shopping for a breeder, not a puppy 6. Trust your gut When we went here, all of these check marks were met. The farm was beautiful beyond belief, there were a lot of dogs, but they were all so happy and sweet! Upon further conversation, half of them were rescues or just pets in general, which made me even more happy. We got in to see the puppies, and my heart melted. They were all so sweet, fluffy, cuddly, extremely well socialized, and just so happy! There were three litters at the time, one 7 weeks old Great Pyre and Newfie cross, one 12 weeks old Newfie and Komondor cross, and one roughly 3 weeks old pure Newfie litter, and all of them had their Momma's with them, in clean housing, lots of fresh water, and plenty of food available. We had found the perfect breeder for us. When we decided on a puppy, we paid a deposit, and we even were able to arrange a meeting place half an hour from our house on the day she turned 8 weeks old! Ever since, my little puppy has been a dream. She's smart, adventurous, gentle, cuddly, and loves people. Her full name is Lady Sassy Golightly, Sassy for short, and she has just become my world. There isn't a single negative thing to say about these people - they truly love having puppies and making sure that all of them go to great homes.
