Today a third baby chick has died from the ones we bought from this store, and it has been less…read morethan a week! We purchased 6 Mystic Onyx and 4 Smokey Pearl chicks on Saturday, April 9th, 2022. Two of the Mystic Onyx and 1 of the Smokey Pearls have died. One Mystic Onyx died the day after we got it. Baby chick death dates: Sunday 04/10/2022 (Mystic Onyx) Monday 04/11/2022 (Smokey Pearl) Tuesday 04/12/2022 (Mystic Onyx) My brother-in-law mentioned to me yesterday (04/11/2022) when the Smokey Pearl chick died that he thought it would have been one of the Mystic Onyx since it was gasping for air, as if it was having breathing issues/is sick (which I also observed a few chicks doing at the store when we were browsing. I only recall because I had made a comment to my husband saying it looked like the chick was choking on something.) Sure enough, the Mystic Onyx died today (04/12/2022). After the second chick death yesterday, I called asking what their policy was on the death of baby chicks and they said they can only possibly do something if there's a death within 24 hours of when COUNTRY STORE receives the baby chicks. Not within 24 hours of purchasing them! My mother-in-law already cut off the feathers near the butt and removed any poop that was stuck the day we got the baby chicks, so that is not the issue. They also have a food and water feeder in their coop where we keep a heat lamp above them. I called again this morning and was told the same thing by another worker, that they can't do anything about the situation and to purchase two more chicks than you want "because there tends to be fallout." We purchased 6 baby chicks (2 Welsummers, 2 Production Red & 2 Light Brahmas) from North 40 on Thursday, April 7th, 2022 and they are all still alive and healthy. It's upsetting that this has happened and we can't get a refund or new baby chicks. If anything I wouldn't even want new baby chicks from this store, and I do not recommend it. Even if Country Store refuses to do anything because of their lame policy in order to not lose any money, I would at the very least advise their company take better care of their chicks and check for health issues.

I saw a dark green bear that I really wanted to take with me, but couldn't justify purchasing. I've never seen a evergreen-colored plush bear. They had grumpy cat plushies that I was really debating on, too. The far wall has winter gear, including fuzzy booties for kids and adults. Near the front counter, there was all sorts of chocolate goodies, including choco-covered fruits and nuts. They didn't have any calendars on display, but they do have a good assortment--both desk and wall style. Don't be afraid to ask for something if you don't see i, the lady had to pull some out of the stock room for me. I ulitimately bought a desk calendar & some postcards here. Cashier was kind enough to also offer postage as I checked out.

When they did increase the prices they went up about $4 or so which hurt But most places doubled or more for the same amount of hay which wasn't near the quality this place sells. The 2 other large stores in town wanted up to $15 more for far less quality bales the same size. This place sells the small compressed alfalfa & Timothy. For at least the last 3 years they have had the Best hay for my very picky goats. They also carry a few various things & some higher quality items u can't find at the other stores. They often have some good deals so I usually shop the whole store. This year they had chicks. I had already picked mine up BUT I wish I would have waited. Their chicks looked much healthier, larger & stronger & they had a great selection of the best breeds. Hopefully they have them next year cuz I would buy from them. The prices were also great.

Update: talked with the owner today: Quote on quote from him " If you had any experience with flail…read moremowers, you would know that the blades are not sharp, brush hog blades are not sharp either, this is not a finish mower". Oh, I had no idea that blades on a mower were ever supposed to be "not sharp". Not expecting a finish mower, I got one of those. I guess this guy is smarter than AI. See pictures below. I added some of the y-blades (duller than a butter knife) and the amazing cutting performance after 3 passes driving 0.2 miles per hour (maybe slower ). I will avoid this establishment at all costs. Worst customer service I have dealt with. David Primmer knows nothing about the products he sells. He doesn't know what a flail mower is designed to do. He sold me a $4000 unit with blades that were not even sharpened, had no ability to troubleshoot the issues I was having with the mower, and couldn't even give me a contract to call to troubleshoot. He sold me a mower manufactured in 2024 as a "2026 Ironcraft Fl-165". There is no branding on the mower to even identify that it is an Ironcraft mower. Oh and funny how I can search for the exact unit nationwide, and find it for sale at prices ranging from $2150-2800, but Cascade wants to retail it at $3895. Hmmm. But David says that's old data. Tells me it's normal that it windrows in tall grass and that I should've bought a brush hog if I wanted a better cut. Pretty sure you got that backwards. But it's my fault because I didn't do enough research. He can't take criticism for failing on his end to be a liaison for a customer having an issue. As a dealer, that is YOUR JOB!!! You're representing Ironcraft selling their product, yet you won't stand behind it when it doesn't function in the way it was designed. The guy wants to cry because I called him out. Learn basic customer service and conflict resolution if you're going work in your business. I asked for the owner and the Ironcraft rep to contact me, and David decided to take this whole matter personally and deny me that ability. Offering me $450 doesn't fix a mower that performs poorly. If you want a trustworthy company with integrity, steer far away from these guys. Disappointed that I even purchased anything from them. David got my business and that's all he cares about. I will avoid this place for any service or future purchases.

Today I'm reviewing Costco's Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke, which I've bought countless times in the past and even on a regular when I lived in Reno. What I love about Costco's Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke is that it's consistently fresh every time! I've never had a bad batch, spoiled batch, nor a fishy smelling batch ever. The taste and season is consistent and can be paired with many different dishes. For people who steer away from it because it says wasabi, have no fear, I assure you it's not spicy hot like you imagine wasabi to be. My favorite is to have it with some plain ol jasmine rice--one of my staple meals for protein as I'm a pescatarian and meal prep time is pretty much non existent besides cooking of the rice. It's fast and easy and a great value for some quality tuna.
