Good for grab and go but honestly I won't be hanging out here after a round. The "pro shop" is pretty rough when it comes to merchandise to buy... don't get me wrong, they have stuff but it's lacking in terms of total gear, racks normally seem empty and missing size runs. Staff is super friendly, never had an issue with them. Will play more rounds here in the future.

On the 7th hole the Marshall told one of my friends to go ahead and hit his ball (from the fairway). My friend informed him that his ball was further up but he was pointing out where my son's ball was. At the turn the starter pointed out where the 10th tee was and then stopped us as we were passing him. He told us that we were behind and needed to pick up our pace. I looked at my phone and realized we were exactly 2 hours 15 minutes from our tee time. I made the comment "2 hours 15 minutes is behind?" and he said "You should be at 2 hours 8 minutes." I'm not gonna lie, this frustrated me and I started hurrying, which negatively affected my game. All of my group was frustrated. It probably shouldn't have affected me as much as it did but I didnt have fun on the back 9. I even picked up my ball on one of the holes because I wasn't playing well and just wanted to finish. One of my friends told me that this happened to him twice before at Heron Lakes. When we finished the starter came out to tell us that we really picked up the pace. I wasn't happy and told him "You didn't give us much of a choice and it affected our game and we didn't have fun." He replied "We're pretty strict about pace of play" to which I replied "I get it, but we weren't holding anyone up." He didn't have a response. None of my group will be going back because it ruined what could have been a great day!

There is a lot of trees for shade, cute little animals (bunnies, squirrels, geese, etc). The fairway, green quality is overall nicely maintained. Ran into this problem today. The people on the back golfed terribly and made the play very slow. So slow I left and asked the pro shop. They told yes they put tee times on the back until 8am. They also said yes you can run into the if you play fast. No refund or discount offered. Paid for 18 and played 9. At minimum they should have a Marshall ensuring the people are playing at pace. Last time I'll be golfing here.

Our teenage son decided he would like to try out for the HS golf team at orientation. With no golf experience, Sean took a 14 year old teen and helped him achieve his goal of making the team. I know his success is a direct reflection of the time spent with Sean. His attention to detail and communication are wonderful. Started Golftec in Aug 2021 with Michael Blinco and have no plans of going anywhere else for my…read moregolf instruction. After trying out multiple instructors in the Portland area (Redtail, Pumpkin Ridge, Rock Creek) and several others in the US (at least 50 hours of total instruction), Golftec stands out to me as one of the best setups for a golfer looking to improve. Michael's approach on the game is multifaceted, not just how best to swing a club. We go through swing mechanics on an indoor simulator and apply them during playing lessons on-course. Short-game and putting lessons have been the weakest part of my game, but now are a more confident part of my game. Instruction on strategy and course management has dramatically increased my percentage of hitting greens on approach shots. Michael's engineering background, his deep knowledge of the game, and his passion for instruction helped me better understand my golf game. I now am better equipped to self diagnose and fix day-to-day adjustments in my swing. The facility also allows for indoor practice on a simulator which is key for off-season improvement to ready for the new season. The video recording/playback in the practice sessions allows you to see whether or not the swing mechanics taught during lessons are being implemented during practice. This feature has increased the efficacy of my practice sessions in a way I couldn't have imagined previously. I can write another page worth of praise for Michael and Golftec, but it's just easier for you to try it yourself. Go in for a swing evaluation; it's $95 and it's likely you'll walk away from that session with actual solutions that work rather than YouTubing/Instagraming a fix that will cause more problems than it fixes.
