Silvertone in for some mods and neck repair.
Thuy D.

Tom! This Silvertone you modified is still rockin'. Hope you are doing well. Do not hesitate to have any repair work done by Tom. One of the last great craftsman in the business.

Neck after Tom worked on it. Now THAT is awesome!

I cannot say enough good things about Tom. The man is a miracle worker. I got a brand-new bass. An American made (I don't want to say the manufacturer, but it rhymes with Phender) that had an issue with the neck. It should have never left the factory like this. Tom did not come across like a "know it all" puffing his chest out like "OH YEAH I GOT THIS!" He did the opposite. He came across as "let me see what I can do and if it doesn't work, we can try and get you a new neck" His work was AMAZING! I really like what he did and now I can rest easy knowing that my bass is OK.

Ambulance guitar repair vechicle
Joe Z.

I made an appointment with Tom to come over in his Repair ambulance vechicle to work on my Guitars. I must say it's a fun experience. He's quick and gets the job done. I recommend you give him a call. Thank you ! I will be back.

I have several guitars that get lots of work. I've been having repeat problems with using Guitar Center and Sam Ash guitar techs so I looked around for an actual luthier/tech and found Tom at TR Guitars. He has a mobile service and was able to service 8 guitars in one sitting. Setups, cosmetic repairs, restringing, action adjustments, etc., he does it all and does it very well. He doesn't mind showing you what he's doing and why, and he'll let you watch his work. That's confidence and I feel like I learned some great stuff from a seasoned veteran guitar tech. My guitars look brand new and playing is nearly effortless. If you have decent guitars, you need a reliable tech to get the most out of them. You can't do better than TR Guitars and you'll ultimately save some money too.

I talked to Tom on the phone and he suggested I bring my Bass guitar by his mobile repair shop, the next week.

They were willing to drive out to me, and while I didn't get the price I wanted, I did get a fair price. After all, you can't sell sentiment. I had the privilege of dealing with Shai, a knowledgeable and well adjusted man, who clearly knew the market, the ins and outs of vintage instruments and was willing to show us the market value on each instrument. The fact that they were willing to save us a trip, was very helpful and he offered good conversation. Should I come across any other vintage instruments in the future, I'll be selling them to this dealer. I was very happy with my experience. Even if I didn't get the price I wanted, I did get a fair deal and that's better than most dealers are willing to work out. As someone who has played guitars for 25 years, this man really knew his stuff and that was refreshing to see. I highly recommend this place for selling your vintage gear.

Jarrett is a real expert who knows what he is doing. After leaving the guitar with him for a few weeks, the guitar is back to sounding and playing well. If you are lucky enough in life, you run into an amazing professional who inspires you and…read moreencourages you to grow. In this case, there are two of them: Tommy Davy of djangoguitars.com and Stephen R. Davy of davy-violins.com. This father son dynamic duo of luthier/musicians is absolutely the best of the best, recognized worldwide for their skill and talent. Of course they are knowledgeable. What may be less known to people is just how welcoming, down to earth, and helpful they are when you work with them - no matter what your level or ability. I have been a professional musician on and off for over thirty years. Admittedly, it has been more off than on for the last decade (plus). I am trying to learn the difficult and ornate Manouche Jazz style of guitar made famous by Django Reinhardt (which Tommy specializes in). It's still very early for me in this pursuit. In short, as a client, I'm the worst of two worlds... I'm super rusty AND a newbie! But, that didn't matter to Tommy and Stephen Davy. They treated me with the utmost respect and professionalism from first contact via text messages through to well after the sale and work being done. They treated me like I was a pro who just walked in off tour and needed an instrument and adjustment. They weren't worried about my level except to help assess the best instrument to get me into and music suggestions. Thanks to Tommy, I now have a beautiful new acoustic jazz guitar. He also set it up and has since checked up on whether or not I've been happy with it since I bought it. And, thanks to Stephen, my son's beautiful violin and bow are now playing better than ever and we are enjoying our home music making, anew! Thanks, gentlemen! It is a pleasure to know you. I look forward to buying my next guitar from Tommy. I already have it picked out.

When it comes to normal stores they will just hand you a unfinished guitar. The whole experience at DjangoGuitars.com was great! Stephen also helped me decide and made it clear what guitar to get when it came to buying them. Then Tommy professionally adjusted the Frets, added a new hardware, adjusted the bridge and many more services you would not get out of a regular guitar store. If you are looking at getting a gypsy jazz guitar I recommend going here. There is no reason not to go here. If you are not buying a guitar here you are losing money; going here was like winning the lottery, you get good service great people, great prices and a new guitar. I was looking to have a complete restoration done to a Bach Stradivarius #37 Trumpet that has been…read morestored in its original case and not used in 20+ years. My parents and I recently received it as a gift from my cousin who got it brand new as a kid over 50 years ago. My cousin wanted my teenage son to have it, so he shipped it to us and we decided we would surprise him with it. My son has worked so hard playing for the past several years and we felt he deserves an upgrade from his student trumpet to a professional instrument. I searched for local music repair shops in my area and landed upon Brass Attitude Mobile Instrument Repair here on Yelp. I was intrigued because this company is the only one I came across that offers to travel to the customer's location, provide a quote and pick up and drop off your instrument as part of their service. I sent a message requesting a virtual consultation and Richard was very responsive and knowledgeable- he took the time to answer ALL of my questions as I had no idea the technicalities of restoring an instrument. Richard accommodated our schedule and we set up a time for him to come to our residence to take a look at the trumpet. He offered several options and suggestions for finishes (lacquered, brushed/satin, and silver plating) and brought his own trumpet to show us what a brushed finish looked like. He evaluated the condition of the trumpet very well, shared his own personal experiences as a trumpet musician, and offered great suggestions for how my son can customize the instrument to his liking as he continues playing. Since the trumpet case was not in the best shape, Richard also offered suggestions on the best cases and stated would also be selling them very soon if we were interested in buying from him. He made great recommendations about the best mouthpieces and valve adjustments to fine-tune the trumpet for creating a better sound. Richard identified the dents that needed removal, valve felts that needed replacement as well as corks and screws that needed replacing. He stated he would give the instrument a much-needed "acid bath" to remove rust and other buildup. Richard assured us that the trumpet was in decent shape, but he could make it look better and get it in ready-to-play shape. We agreed to have the work done. Richard emailed a quote to me itemizing the cost of the service he was going to provide and stated that it would be 3-day turn around to complete the work. He kept great communication with us via text and sent us pictures of his work the night before he was scheduled to drop off the trumpet. We paid the invoice online which was in alignment with his initial quote. About 3 business days later, Richard dropped the instrument off this morning and we are very pleased with the work that he did. We can't wait to see the look on my son's face when he receives his "dream" trumpet on Christmas day! Thank you Richard for making this possible for us and we look forward to your expertise when my son decides to have additional customizations.
