True Believers (Located inside Menlo Park Mall)…read more55 Parsonage Rd. Edison, NJ 08837 If you are a millennial and want to relive your past time, this vintage toy store is right up your alley. This location specializes in action figures, statues, retro home consoles, and other keepsakes. As I entered the store, it had the feel of a museum because many items are not available in retail stores. I was especially impressed with the detail of the action figures. The characteristics of each trait are handcrafted perfectly and I can guarantee you will instantly recognize each specific trait. There is a diverse variety of additional merchandise in True Believers. An entire wall is filled Funko Pop! vinyl figures. Although I don't collect any cards, there are many Pokémon trading cards available; they are surprisingly valuable. The video game systems will also keep you entertained. Engage in the Game Boy or neutralize the bad guys with the Nintendo Zapper; now you are playing with power! Although I currently am not in the market for any novelties, it was still a neat experience exploring this store. It is a must visit for true believer that is young at heart. #truebelievers #menloparkmall

Mike the owner is very accommodating and it very fair to sellers when making offers to buy their books. (Often explaining how much they would be resold for an makes a reasonable offer based on that price). Mike and Jackie have excellent knowledge about Comics, Toys and Funco Pops and serious collectors shop there weekly because of them. I'm at a total loss for why there are some bad reviews here, Yes they have a sign that they are always buying, but you are best calling ahead and asking when the owner is in (which is almost all the days). As he is the one that will make the best offer and he really knows what sells well and doesn't. (Avoid Sundays and Mondays if you are there to sell your collection). Word to the wise, when selling a collection, it is always best to call ahead, see when the best time to visit is and see if they are interested in your collection. If they are, this is a great place to deal with as you won't get robbed. Naturally they are a business and need to stay profitable and need to buy at a rate that allows them to mark it up, but you aren't going to walk in with a rare comic that is worth $500 and walk out with 20 dollars, I've seen Mike buy and he is very honest. (Sometimes that means that he has to refuse to buy items that he can't sell, and other times people walk out with much more than expected. A reviewer complained about parking during a snow storm. My feeling is that the person with the car parking problem wasn't even dealing with the people who own the comic shop, probably from another business or an irate person who is a customer of the vacuum shop. Another reviewer said that they didn't feel comfortable there and I find this hard to fathom, I've always felt comfortable there and noticed that they treat their regular customers like family, often knowing about them, their jobs and families and remembering to ask them about things that they have shared about their lives (Changing Jobs, Children's health, Weddings, loss of family members, etc.).

I only ever stopped into Main Street Comics once while passing through the area. I was certainly…read moreimpressed with how clean and organized the store was, along with their overall collection of back-issue books. So, I spent some time going through most of their bins. Unfortunately, the condition of those back-issue books rarely reflects the significantly higher prices they charge. As an avid comic collector and seller myself, I'm well aware of market value. And their prices are well -above- market value. Keep in mind, this is only regarding their back issues. The new release section had standard new-release pricing and was well stocked. So if I ever decide to visit again, it will only be for the new releases and nothing else.

I want to tell you about a holiday kindness done for my family by a local business…read more My family is a comic book loving family. I donated my old collection of books and graphic novels to the high school, we hit all the movies, etc. Of course this makes us supporters of the geekery here in Matawan. So much so, I follow them across social media. Well at the start of March when the pandemic was starting to get noticed, I lost my job as a private company school bus driver because of school closures and my son became very sick, not covid related. Worryingly sick. We were at the ER three times, ended up with a specialist at Children's Hospital in New Brunswick, and finally a diagnosis with an autoimmune disease, something terrifying during a pandemic. It's been hard and scary, and now we're stuck inside like my son is the boy in the bubble, and I've talked about this on Twitter over the past month. Well the geekery reached out to me on Twitter. They noticed its been a hard time for us and how sick my son has been and asked if they could bring him an Easter basket to brighten his day. Less than 5 minutes later there was a package on my back doorstep. Thank you to the geekery for offering something fun and unexpected! It's good there's still kindness being shared during this frightening time. I hope when this is all over and we can start going out to the shops again, the geekery is still around filled with heroes both fictional and very real.

Amazing selection, knowledgeable employees, and they have something for the geek in everyone.read more

Location wise it was a little tough to locate , as there were no boards . Parking was ok. They had some at the backside .. great service and quick billing . They don't accept credit cards . Pay by cash or zelle .. When we went a lot of doll sets were gone .. the left out ones were good but not the best .. especially with budget dolls less than 40-50$.. they were ok. Not that good. The more expensive ones were so good and looked very pretty. My friends bought a lot of dolls but I didn't want to spend that much (100$ plus). Not much of options though to buy golu dolls . Wanted to give 3.5 but gave a 4 star ..

In addition to that, they also bring the trending bommais of every year here. Ramji sir is very helpful in selection, and shares media or info promptly. Last and most importantly, their shipping is impeccable. They have shipped various clay (more fragile) and paper mache bommais with great care and packaging without an incident. If you're looking to purchase Golu in the US, look no further. This is the best place I know of and can personally recommend. UPDATE on 9/23 after two packages received within a week, feedback as sent to Mr. Ramji - Received all the Bommais today and just undid the packaging. All looking exquisite and of beautiful craftsmanship. Thanks for the Bulletproof packing, can't imagine how painstaking it was but it's even better than what you would get from India My turmeric packets from NJ are growing as well, it's a sweet traditional touch. Also really appreciate the extra large trash bag, it's an instant motivation to clear up what we would usually end up procrastinating!

For stuffed animal presents, it really doesn't get much better than GUND. 1) Fantastic quality - their top line is made of premium Vonnel "tipped" fabric with faux-suede paw pads. This stuff is SO soft and blows dolls like Ty out of the water. Their lower line dolls are also soft (although not as soft as their top line) and still smokes everything else out there. 2) Extremely cute - look at the designs, the facial expression, and the posture of some of these dolls. My personal favorite is Snuffles and Boo the dog. 3) Reasonable price - you can go really high end with stuffed dolls, but the price usually goes up b/c of custom designed outfits not because the material is better or because the doll looks cuter. GUND gets you the best doll without having to pay for such extras which are valued by collectors. Bottom Line: You can't go wrong with these stuffed for a present! I use the stuff animal spray cleaner to remove dirt and dust on my beloved teddy bears displayed in my bedroom which looks like the day I either received as a gift or bought it. Gund's plush teddy bears are indeed soft yet classic. Teddy bears makes the ultimate best friends without being hurt!
