The same guy asked if another customer needed help while he was looking at my books, then when the customer started to answer he proceeded to pick up the phone and ignore the customer. I donated my old collection of books and graphic novels to the high school, we hit all the movies, etc. Of course this makes us supporters of the geekery here in Matawan. So much so, I follow them across social media. Well at the start of March when the pandemic was starting to get noticed, I lost my job as a private company school bus driver because of school closures and my son became very sick, not covid related. Worryingly sick. We were at the ER three times, ended up with a specialist at Children's Hospital in New Brunswick, and finally a diagnosis with an autoimmune disease, something terrifying during a pandemic. It's been hard and scary, and now we're stuck inside like my son is the boy in the bubble, and I've talked about this on Twitter over the past month. Well the geekery reached out to me on Twitter. They noticed its been a hard time for us and how sick my son has been and asked if they could bring him an Easter basket to brighten his day. Less than 5 minutes later there was a package on my back doorstep. Thank you to the geekery for offering something fun and unexpected! It's good there's still kindness being shared during this frightening time. I hope when this is all over and we can start going out to the shops again, the geekery is still around filled with heroes both fictional and very real.
