Just an incredible selection of vintage toys. The store is amazing and I think I did Three laps through to make sure I didn't miss anything. I can't stress enough that if you collect it, they probably have it. I've very seldom seen an assortment of vintage toys like this. This is an amazing vintage toy store. I stopped by to pick something up for my daughter while I was out of town, but ended up finding more for myself. They've got every toy I ever loved as a kid, all the ones I wanted, and so much more. Just walking through the store was a blast as I was taken back to being a kid with each section I saw. Pricing is also excellent too. I picked up a few LEGO figures for a great price, and the Star Wars figures were unbelievably cheap for brand new in box (and even out of box). My only regret is I didn't have a chance to make it back in before I left Chicago. I'll come back! read more

Smh... I have tried for the last week to get a hold of someone at this buisness to sell a large lot of action figures that I inherited. The action figures are all in perfect condition in box. This buisness has no phone number to call and speak to anyone! The only method is via email that they never answer or Instagram that they never check. I added this buisness on Instagram and noticed they post every couple if hours throughout the day, but never check their Instagram inbox for messages. I finally recived a response after mentioning no one was answering my email or Instagram messages on a post they put on Instagram. The post suddenly locked so no one else could reply and the response was we did not receive your messages but now see one and will respond shortly this is going on 3 days ago. I am sure the store is great to fi d vintage toys, but the lack of customer service to get a hold of anyone sucks. This location is not very close to me and this collection of action figures I am trying to sell are 4 large rubbermaid tubs. I would like to get an idea if they are interested in buying before making the trip to Chicago. read more

Not only does Toy de Jour bring back every bit of nostalgia but they are so nice about it. The biggest selections of everything from odd ends and even gundam kits and the biggest selection of modern and old transformers memorabilia I've seen. For toy fans, this is the place to find ultra rare stuff - particularly a crazy good assortment of vintage G.I. Joe, Transformers, He-Man, and TMNT. For clothing shoppers, like my wife, Toy De Jour is surprisingly awesome. I would not have expected that my wife would buy a purse while I bought articulated plastic dudes. But lastly, Toy De Jour isn't just a collector-friendly shop like various others in Chicago... This is a store that everyone can enjoy. Kids will find fun odds and ends. Young parents will find the great 80s stuff they had, and demand their kids have too. There is something here for every customer. It's inviting, not like your usual collectors toy store cavern. Toy de Jour smells like farts. I went to Toy de Jour and it was like stepping back in time to my childhood. They have everything you had as a kid, actually, I think Sam & Liz have a time machine and they travel back in time and steal kids' toys. So ya know, that Trap Jaw you lost in the sand box when you were six? They now sell it! How about all the little purple drill-bits for the TMNT Mutant Module that you lost? Sam & Liz STOLE them. Now they sell your OWN TRASH back to you! WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! In addition to farts and stuff they also sell art. I never knew that I needed or wanted a Virgin Mary Skeletor candle. WOW! Don't let Sam take your photo... cuz he posts your image on a web site called www.Instagram.com and everyone knows what you bought. I really enjoyed this store. It's a great addition to the neighborhood. They have a great selection of vintage and unique toys, along with some cute vintage clothing items. I stopped in a few times because they're always getting new stock in. It's a great place for collectors as well as someone who's looking to find something unique or fun. Right around the corner from my apartment, I've become a regular at this quirky shop. The owners are weird in the best way, Sam knows everything you could hope to learn about the toys of your childhood, and Liz will make up a story on the spot about any of the vintage items that are constantly rotating in and out of the store. I've bought lamps, toys, and some other weird vintagey stuff here and I'll keep doing it because this eclectic spot is exactly up my alley. Nice little shop I've been trying to go to for the last two years. Very glad to have finally come. Place is cozy but there are a lot of toys and collectibles displayed for maximum use of space. On the day that I went, I took a good look at the toys. I was very excited to see toys from my childhood and beyond on display. I took my 5 month old too, though he was just taking in the whole experience of being in a room full of toys. This store is so much fun! My roommate and I are both in love with the vintage section - our favorite pieces of our apartment decor are from Toy De Jour. The selection they have is the perfect size, it seems carefully selected rather than overwhelming and it's all very reasonably priced - I have yet to visit without falling in love with at least one item. I stopped by last Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised to see a box outside the shop labeled "Free Stuff" which had some beautiful plates in it that I snagged. I'm not really into toys but it's entertaining to look around and see what they have regardless. The first time I visited the store, I spotted something that I hadn't seen or thought about in years hanging next to some practical joke toys - an extendable fork. It brought back an old memory of my Dad busting out an extendable fork at dinner on an April Fools Day when I was a kid. Needless to say, I bought it and my family was just as entertained to see it again as I was... I wonder if they have fart machines? Also, it's right off the Western stop and street parking is always easy so you can't beat that. I actually just created a Yelp account to write a review for Toy De Jour, so I guess you could say that I'm a fan. Love this place. read more

My girlfriend Kate was the one who found out about this new toy store in town. On Western Ave, good location, easy to find. The store is bright and full with stuff from our childhood. If action figures are your thing, this is the place. The thing we liked so much is that it is clean and organized. Ever been to Quake? This is what that store should look like. Sam is very helpful, and looked up specific info on several things for us. No sign of photobomber Liz though when we were there. Besides the action figures there is a ton of other cool stuff, so you won't leave Toy de Jour empty handed! There are several lunchboxes for sale too, Wonka, a great seat full of stuffed animals (as I come to think of it: maybe this is where Liz was hiding) and so much more. I walked in based on a reccomendation from a friend. First of all there is plenty of street parking which is a huge plus in the city. The area has quite a few restaurants around too so if you want to make an afternoon out of it you wont run out of options. When I walked into the store I was greeted w a smile instead of the typical looking away or too busy greetings alot of us in Chicago are used to so I knew before I left I was going to buy something. They had a great HeMan selection and they even had the specific character I was looking for (pay cash people) the price was also reasonable. I saw plenty more that I wanted and I am positive I will return. I can say w experience that alot of these types of stores have a certain level of arrogance about them which I find funny being a toy nerd myself and most of the owners are creepy. However the couple that ran the place were pleasant and helpful. If the Roboto is back when I return it was meant to be and he will be mine. Check this place out I bet you buy something. It was one trip but when you have an experience like I had you wish them nothing but success. read more

It seems like many of the older toy stores around Chicago have rude workers and judge you if you don't know your toys, but whenever I come in Sam is always friendly, and is up for any questions I might have. Sam knows his toys. What separates itself from other toy stores is the variety of action figures spanning from Marvel to movie figures to designer toys to vintage and much more. They even have some mash up figures sometimes (Sam made me a G.I. Joe with a Scratchy head).The arrangement of the store is always changing along with the featured artists. FAO Shwarz and KB Toys may be gone, but you could still relive your past through Toy de Jour. read more
