Five stars go out the US postoffice, and 5 extra stars to the nice guy that helped us. Wow, he…read moreknows wat service is all about. The US Postoffice should cherish this kind of employees. They make your business. We're on a roadtrip for 3 and somewhat weeks, visiting from The Netherlands. And of course, again, I bought too much Christmas ornaments. - Little note, on every trip I try to buy some local ornaments so when Christmas arrives I can look at a tree full of memories. - This time a Departement 56 Harley Davidsons motel. And that are not things to get in our already overweight luggage easily. So we considered sending it home. We first made inquiries at FedEx in Nashville because we walked by. Estimated costs: over $200. For that price I a can buy an extra suitcase and pay for extra luggage. So we looked further. In Gatlinburg we visited this post office learning that our package can be send to Europe for a little over $50, including our map and two travelguides we didn't need anymore. Huge difference. But that's not the only reason for the 5 star rating. The guy behind the counter is. He took all the time in the world helping us to fill in the forms, get the stuff boxed, and giving advice about some choices to made. In the mean time he helped several other local customers with quick questions without giving us the feeling he wasn't totally there for us. And in the post office hangs a painting depicting him and a little boy. Make sure to ask him about it. It has to do with 9/11 and I had trouble keeping my eyes dry. And no worries, he wasn't pushy, I asked him about the painting and that made him tell the story. And excuse any grammar and spelling mistakes. English is not my first language. And if that isn't bad enough, my Apple device keeps changing words into 'proper Dutch'. Yes, you've guessed right, my first language.

I have a love hate relationship with the post office. I hate the long lines and the hectic vibes…read morebut this one is different. Since it's just a small town post office there is only one window, but there is never anyone in there so I rarely if ever have to wait in line. The bigger one in town is a hot mess so if I had to go there every time I needed to mail something it would not be worth it. So thankful this one is here.

This place is a little hidden gem of a Post Office, it's almost hidden right before you get into…read morethe Smokies. It's a charming place set against the backdrop of the mountains too. When I lived in Maryville I would sometimes drive out of my way to go here just because of how nice the place is and how friendly the people who work there are. It's very small but never too busy and you'll always see a smiling face when you walk inside. To this day and no matter where I've lived I still always remember how nice this place is when I walk into any Post Office. This place sets a high bar for all other Post Offices and should be a role model for great customer service to any business.

I have gotten other people's mail in my box many times, even one that belonged in a different town! If I get other people's mail, I have to wonder who is getting mine! I'm writing this review now because I'm angry! I just called my credit card company with concern that my credit card is about to expire and I haven't received a new card. They told me they mailed me a new card May 31st and it is now June 20th. I did NOT receive it, so the mailman gremlin has struck again! I hope USPS reads this!
