Tea thoughtfully put together by front desk representative, Bob.
    Allie L.

What a wonderful hotel experience! Upon check in, the front desk representative, Bob, greeted us warmly and told us to let him know if he could be of any help to us. He made sure to mention his name and was very personable and friendly. It was a great first impression. There is a salt water pool- what a delightful discovery!!! The hotel is tastefully decorated, clean and modern. Our room was immaculate and feels like home. We didn't have enough peppermint tea in our room. I went down to the front desk area to see if I could get another bag or two, and Bob went above and beyond! He came back with a platter with several tea bags, sugar and two cups of steaming hot water to save me the time of brewing it in our room. What delightful service! Management: take note- Bob is AWESOME! I highly recommend this hotel. We hope to come back!

Not a ton of traffic or people here. It seems to be on the edge of a newly developed part of town so it still feels a bit remote. Amenities are pretty basic. The gym is good enough for mostly cardio. It's quite small. The pool is the thing that captures the eye. It looks newly renovated and was fun. There's a few entrances and exits to the place. The main one leads to the main road but the back ones lead to a quicker walk to the shopping mall that is adjacent to it. Only interacted with the night staff. They seemed pretty sleepy. Not a ton of energy and couldn't really help answer any questions about what happens in the morning here. Breakfast is not included and cost about 10 dollars I believe. There's no shuttle from the airport neither. Luckily the airport is only about 20 minutes away and cost me about 20 dollars.

The staff was very nice and accommodating and the exercise room is ideal for cardio or muscle building exercises. I usually have a veggie omelette for breakfast when I travel. Sometime it can be greasy or dry. The omelette made here was perfect being neither dry nor greasy. Well done Justino on the omelette!!! The waiter and waitress here was also very nice and made sure to take care of me with fast coffee to the table and checked on me several times. Great job all around.

Top notch fitness equipment is rare at any hotel, much less a HI Express. When we arrived, we realized we booked a night during a big wrestling tournament for kids and this was their hotel for the weekend. Most of the kids were nice but the large group did over crowed the pool area and we could not use it. We figured they would have to go to bed early and changed our plans and did an early dinner to come back in time to hopefully use the pool when kids would be going in for the night. We were right and able to use the pool the last 1 hour. It was dirty and messy after kids and parents left, that was rude and either parents should have been better or the hotel knowing they had this large group should have set some type of boundaries to accommodate outside guests and cleaned after their big group left. The rudest things about all this was when we came down to get a coffee and hot chocolate in the evening that the parents "owned" the eating area it seemed. They had the TV with the games on, bottles of Jack and beer were open in display all over the tables and parents were loud and having a watch party. As I walked over with my kids to get them a hot chocolate that area was a mess with water all over and sadly no hot chocolate left only the coffee. I literally was waiting next to coffee maker while the adults were standing and drinking by it and were not getting the hint to please move so we can make our drinks. The hotel managers on shift did nothing, let them be loud and drink openly while other guests were trying to enjoy the amenities and area. Just insane to let this be allowed. I did see earlier in the day that the parents had a "meeting room" right by the pool that they were using to eat and stay out of the way of regular guests but that room opened up into the whole area of the hotel by that evening. It just felt intimidating being around with our kids while those parents were being loud, drunk, and a bit rude. The kids throughout the day were nice, even made free bracelets for guests' kids, and even 1 group while in the elevator apologies if they (the kids) were being loud and taking over the pool. They are the ones that gave us the tip that the pool should be open for us (kids) later when they need to go to bed as they had a meet in the morning. Pool was heated and we did get to enjoy it for a solid hour if we had time would have jumped in again the morning. Room was clean but old and could hear everyone around us even though we were on the top floor. Breakfast is what helped us leave in a good mood. Since everyone was gone early, we were able to enjoy a yummy hot breakfast, and they had an amazing selection for a free breakfast. Pancakes, sausage, omelets, cinnamon buns, cereal, toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, several juices and milks to pick from, and MORE. Large eating area so everyone could sit and eat without having to take it to your room. Also loved all the condiments and extra plates they provide. Very helpful for our kids. All in all, we might stay again but would double check that there are no major events - maybe post this somewhere or give your regular guests extra perks for dealing with these big groups. Management, please keep large groups like that "in check" - to ensure your other guests feel safe to be in any public area that they would like; especially when those big groups are drinking all day (We saw it, as soon as we checked in around 4 pm and still drinking by 9pm). Also, with those big groups maybe allow them to have certain pool times and let outside guests be aware of this. When having big groups, you should be cleaning more often and stocking your coffee and water areas more often and do an extra cleaning around the pool area after big groups leave.

It was quiet, I was close to the elevator so I was a little worried about noise (I'm a light sleeper), but it was great. Check in, lobby, bar, and breakfast all on ground floor. Next floor up is conf rooms, bathrooms, gym, and pool. The pool is heated but no hot tub :( If you are staying tippy top, you will need your key card to access the high floors on the elevators which are pretty fast by the way. Luggage carriers are conveniently located by elevators in garage, there is a daily charge to park onsite. Lots of shopping and dining options within walking distance of the hotel. If exercise or nature is your jam, Picnic point is only 2.5 miles away from the hotel door. The room itself was very conducive, mini fridge, microwave, bar space, work space, lounge space, bed space, and spa space. The only thing confusing to me is that Marriot seems to have opted out of including vents in the bathrooms. Meaning if you made a stink, you can trap it by closing the door, but you cannot diffuse it, unless you brought alternative means with you to do so. If you are expecting a lake view, make sure you request it prior to check in and also know that you will need to be above a certain floor level because 2nd floor has a view of the side of Target. The ice machines are great and have the added feature of tap water to refill water bottles and thermoses and such. It is a lovely venue and location and I would totally stay here again.

Chris drove us to the airport in the hotel's shuttle-- a pleasant guy with helpful local info. We enjoyed the Marriott's menu too-- mostly for shareable appetizers (hummus platter, and the local faves (deep fried cheese curds). Apparently the Old Fashioned is considered the local cocktail-- and the lobby bar makes a good one! One star off for the inconsistent housekeeping. I understand that rooms are cleaned alternate days now, but basic tasks were missed on cleaning days. All-in-all, a well-oiled machine with professional staff.

The hotel as a whole feels small with low ceilings and narrow corridors. Our double-bed-room was on the first floor off of the lobby. To our surprise, it had a 'full' kitchen in there, with a large fridge, stovetop, and even a dishwasher. I suppose people could stay for lengths of time here? We spent very little time in our room, apart from sleeping, so the only thing that got use was the bed. Oh and the bathroom/shower, which were clean but certainly outdated. Bed was just fine, not uncomfortable, but perhaps some new pillows are in order. We had a few items from the breakfast bar in the morning--subpar food but does the trick if you're looking to get your fill. They had everything from potatoes, eggs, and sausage patties to yogurt and cereal. Pros: Free parking for guests, including underground heated options. Front desk staff was very friendly. And I'd say the best thing about this hotel is the location, as it's right within a big outdoor shopping/restaurant center. Walkable to plenty of places down the street.

This Staybridge was relatively close to Camp Randall and the reviews through Yelp seemed to confirm that this was a good hotel. Unfortunately that was not the case. Finding the hotel and securing a parking spot in the lot was easy, and check in was relatively straightforward. The clerk was friendly and provided the necessary information efficiently. Nice that the pool is open 24 hours, not that we ended up using it. The clerk also referenced a note about there only being one bed; which is fine since I reserved a room with just one bed... After check in we entered the hotel and noticed a smell in the hallway that my husband likened to a porta potty. The smell did not get much better when we entered our room; it smelled stale, as though the room had been closed up for a long time and just recently placed back into service. Perhaps that was the case given the hasty patch job we noticed above the shower in the bathroom. Speaking of the shower, the pressure was decent, which surprised me given how much water was still coming out of the bath faucet while the shower was running. Points for using the refillable bottles of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner, but the bottles were not very full--good thing we weren't staying long! Also disappointing was how disgusting the fridge was. The outside of the unit looked like someone had shaken a can of orange Fanta, opened the can, and then walked away. Again, glad that we only spent one night here.
