I asked my mother and called her dentist and they couldn't see me right away. However they referred me to Dentistry on Jamieson. I called after hrs and left a message. The very next morning (a Saturday) I received a call from Jess and I was in, right away. Jess' directions were clear and the location was easy to find. I walked into a clean lined office of calmness which was needed cause I was a little apprehensive. I even noticed they have iPads for the kids. I was greeted warmly and after filling in a easy new patient form I was promptly brought into the examination room by Justine and she filled me in on X-rays and what they were going to do. The new office boasted state of the art new equipment including a panoramic X-ray that was so easy and my favorite the flat screen tv to distract me from what was about to happen in my mouth. Now I have avoided dentists like the plague after some harrowing experiences with 2 separate dentist. Dr. Asi came in and had a calm confidence about him and he put me to ease right away. He reviewed my urgent issues and brought up some new findings. His knowledge and communication with me was excellent as he explained everything clearly and answered all my questions and put my concerns to rest. Now was the time for the broken tooth extraction. Remember my dislike for this whole process. Dr. Asi's gentle approach and technique was amazing. I hardly felt anything and before I knew it, it was all over. Now for what could be the painful part - the cost. I don't have any dental coverage so everything is out of pocket. This part was just as gentle as the procedure. Dr. Asi's rates are the most reasonable out there. A great dentist with great rates, I am returning to get the other issues and recommendations taken care of. From the initial walk in, to meeting the great staff and a talented doctor it was the best dentist visit in my life. I was pleasantly relieved that it worked out that way. Six weeks ago I had gone to Altima Dental for a tooth ache. The dentist took TWO X rays one for the…read morefront and than a bigger one for my entire mouth to show my wisdom teeth. The dentist explained to me that I needed to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed and a root canal on the front tooth (which was in a lot of pain). She reffered me to a specialist for my wisdom teeth and sent the quote for a root canal and the X rays she had taken. I am a full-time student off for the summer so I had to call the government to get "emergency" status in order to have coverage for these procedures. When the government does this I have limited time to have these problems taken care of before it expires. Altima Dental knew this. Two weeks went by and I heard nothing so I called the emergency dental unit and they had told me that they haven't received anything from Altima Dental. I called Altima Dental and they told me they only had ONE X ray in my file and I would need to come in to have the front done again. I went in and as they got me ready I explained they charged my insurance for BOTH X rays so where is it? They took another look and there it was and it was an acceptable X ray so no further X rays were needed. Altima Dental told me they will fax the estimate for the root canal to my insurance asap and call me upon approval. TWO more weeks go by....i call the emergency dental unit and again they told me they received nothing but the X ray bills. I called Altima Dental again and they had no idea who I was or why I was calling. They finally found the referral for my wisdom teeth but NOTHING else. I waited on the phone until she could call someone to look up more detail. They found my X rays and again said they will fax them to my insurance asap. TWO more weeks go by ...(I am in A LOT of pain) I call my insurance and they claim they haven't received anything.... I called Altima Dental back and spoke to the receptionist ANGIE and again she said she doesn't know what I am calling about as the referral for my wisdom teeth had been sent out. So I again explained I needed a root canal (the main reason for coming in) and i explained everything above that has happened how I am in pain and it shouldn't take 6 weeks to fix a tooth or send a fax or via email. Angie laughed at me....really she laughed as I explained I am in a lot of pain and it is silly they wanted to charge me twice for the same X ray.. .She laughed some more and said 'well it's not YOU paying for these X rays so what's the problem?' I found this very disturbing and I asked her not to laugh at me as being in pain is not funny or necessary at this point. She continued to laugh and say shes been in a lot of pain before too? than asked for my phone number I confirmed the number and she said 'okay' and hung up the phone. That was it she didn't explain what she would do next just hung up. I called back and spoke to the head receptionist Jodie and of course they had nothing on file or why I am calling them so again I explained all of the above and she assured me that ANGIE did not laugh at me.....so I guess I'm a liar and that didn't take place two minutes before speaking with Jodie? I have 3 days before my coverage runs out that started over a month ago. Altima Dental has been anything BUT professional. Very disorganized and very rude receptionist. I'm not sure what practice allows someone to sit in pain for 6 weeks when something can be done and I've also never had someone laugh at me 100% for being in pain and voicing that to be clear this is an emergency situation. I am hoping something can be done about this as I would consider this to be neglect as a health care professional. I have lodged a formal complaint with the ontario dental college association. Jodie did straighten things out after six weeks and ten phone calls and one VERY rude receptionist. Honestly if i could have been seen sooner at a different clinic i would have. I will not be going back after this when my college insurance kicks back in and i would NEVER recommend this clinic to anyone. I feel bad for the dentits there being represented by this woman as im sure it drives business away.

But something is definitely wrong with appointment bookings. They needed to reschedule me and slotted me in the morning but I always need an afternoon appointment. Angie wasn't there and I was informed the next available date was in three months!!! I took the next one in three months since it was only for a cleaning. Then they unfortunately rescheduled me two times more for the same cleaning once due to staff sickness and then for a staff emergency. I understand these things happen but I got annoyed when I wasn't contacted to be rescheduled. I decided to find a new office since I didn't hear back from them in over a month after their last cancellation. I found a new dentist and the new office contacted Altima for my X-rays and history. Hooray, I finally I had my first cleaning at the new place and they got me in right away too! Would you believe I get contacted by Altima asking if I'd like to make an appointment??!!!! What?! Someone is seriously dropping the ball over there. How can they not keep their scheduling and ex clients straight. Since Altima cancelled me you would think it be good practice to fit me in right away and not contact me more than 30 days later. No hard feelings but I'm off to where customer service is taken seriously.

Not that I said anything but if it opens at 10 I would be there a little early to ensure I was ready willing and able to take calls and be of service. I got cancelled for yelling at her so things got ugly. I told her perhaps she needed a job at like Tim's because she wouldn't have to Remember anything. She didn't like that either. I did eventually swear at her out of frustration and she called the Popo on me like a mature adult after I asked to speak to management. She said I was rude in 23. After they changed my appt 3 times to accomodate the office. Good riddance viva dental. I never should have allowed you to convince me you were better after the last reception lady left. You are no better. No recommendations for you.
