NOT MARRIOTT QUALITY AT ALL. We stayed here as part of my sons orientation at IU. The experience was disappointing. Broken door knobs, bad smell inside the room, yellow and green colored walls... I can go on and on. I have stayed at other Marriotts and this one is worse than the worst Super8 ( yeah I have had this experience too). Will never recommend this place to anyone. Thin walls + highway noise = tough night's sleep. During COVID, (March through June so far), the breakfast buffet, pool, and gym are all closed, so no amenities. The property is old and shows its age. On the plus side, the staff is nice. The location is convenient. You can walk to several restaurants (TX Roadhouse, Cheddars, McDonald's, Pizza Hut.) The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. I would love to see this hotel add recycling. read more

STAY FAR FAR AWAY. My family and I did not feel safe at all. Do not stay in room 102. It's a terrible room - smoking area right there, dark areas where shady people hang out. The rooms on the first floor have torn window screens like someone was trying to break in. The room was so dirty. It's a terribly old hotel and just not a place for a family. OVERVIEW: Stayed here for two weeks while attending a training course in Bloomington. The hotel is centrally located. Restaurants are within walking distance and a shopping center is a 5-minute drive. My studio suite was clean, cozy, and has a home like atmosphere. Employees are very helpful and attended to all my needs. LOCATION: Bloomington, Indiana TRAVEL DATES: November-2013 POSITIVE NOTES: a) Clean rooms b) Fully equipped kitchen in studio suites c) Centrally located. Plenty of restaurants within one-block radius. d) Employees were accommodating and helpful. They made my 2-week stay a pleasant one. NEGATIVE NOTES: a) Breakfast is moderate. After staying for 2 weeks, it seems repetitive afterwards. b) Fitness center and outdoor swimming pool was closed during my stay. HELPFUL TIPS: I stayed in Room #302. The room is equipped with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, a kitchen, and Wi-Fi access. The master bedroom has a TV and a writing desk, a flat screen TV is in the living room along with a sofa bed. This general management does not follow up on anything. Blames everything on the staff. Does not accept responsibility. Place is filthy. Don't believe their statement as "Detail Cleaning Once A Week". My bath tub has not been cleaned for weeks. Carpets are dirty. They can't keep housekeeping staff. Lots of turnover. Trust me stay away from this hotel and the Fairfield Inn several blocks down. Both properties managed by the same general manager. Manager and staff were very helpful accommodating me when I had an unorthodox schedule. They made sure I had a place to stay even when the hotel was completely booked and they worked with me to get what I needed to show my work receipts for reimbursement. The kitchen is decent and has a medium size fridge and the bathroom is nice. The desk has another bigger desk underneath it that can be rolled out and used as a table. The walls are thin though and you can hear neighboring rooms if they are playing music. Overall the room was pretty good but I gave 5 stars because of the staff. read more

I had a great time when I passed through Bloomington. Check in was quick and easy, and I appreciated the mini snack shop in the lobby. The staff was friendly and helpful (I needed directions, I didn't plan ahead). The room was spacious and clean, and the location was fantastic. It was just off the highway, there were plenty of restaurants of various types for whatever I was hungry for, which was convenient because I overslept past the breakfast. The only complaint I really had was how small the space for the toilet was. That's a weird sentence to type, but I don't know how else to say it. When sitting on the toilet, I felt cramped and had to twist a little awkwardly to get toilet paper. That being said, it was not a serious problem. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town. read more

This hotel has severe cleanliness and safety issues. The carpet is very stained and feels sticky on the feet. The odor of pets or smoke is pervasive. Even the bed sheets smelled like that. The furniture worn and stained. Our first floor room had a window with no screen that was unlocked. It was very difficult to get it to lock. The card reader on the side door was broken, and people kept propping it open, giving access to the guest hallway to anyone who wanted to enter. I'm sure the staff was doing the best they can, but I would not stay at this property again. I don't think I have ever been to a Marriott in this state of disrepair. read more

The Towne Place Suites in Bloomington will be my go to hotel from now on! What a pleasurable experience. The free continental breakfast featured fresh fruit and a wide variety of hot foods. The staff in the lobby was extremely friendly and helpful. The room itself is huge with a full size kitchen, sofa and desk area. The bed is very comfortable and the tv swivels so you can enjoy it on the sofa or in the bed if you're a lazy idiot! It's conveniently located right by the freeway with easy access to campus, downtown and a movie theater within walking distance (which I used to see X-Men). Overall if you're looking for a pleasant, clean, bright and friendly place to stay for your trip to Bloomington I couldn't recommend the Towne Place Suites more. read more

My true review would be 2.5, but I'll round up to a 3. The customer service was great! The person at the front desk was friendly and helped get an extra bed and blankets for the room. I was in town for a few days on business and truly enjoyed my stay at this property. I had a great experience that began at check-in and continued throughout my stay, This property had a perfect bed and a great shower. These are the two things that are most important to me in a hotel. I visit Bloomington quite a bit. In the future, I will definitely return to Towneplace Suites. read more

Bumping up my review of this hotel a star after a great experience the last week I was here. It doesn't change some of the negatives like the older rooms and decor, no weights in the gym, food only on Tuesday in the evening with a weak breakfast each morning. However, several new updates. They have new beds and my room this time wasn't as falling apart just a bit old. The location is right next to a bunch of restaurants walking distance, albeit chain restaurants, and they even give you a free app at the Texas Roadhouse. Good location in a quiet spot in town that is still super close to downtown. The staff is great and goes above and beyond. Things like helping me find a notary open late (and turned out they even have one on staff!), great recommendations for restaurants, keeping the breakfast open later than most, etc. I also like that the gym has TVs on the cardio equipment and pizza on Tuesdays are a nice touch. They make a bunch of batches of cookies throughout the evening as they run out, several types as well. The towne place brand is nice with the studio suites and this has that as well. Including a full stovetop and oven, another nice touch. read more

One of the few places a family of five can stay in one suite. We stayed in a two bedroom suite on the top floor. The parking lot does not wrap around the back of the hotel, so our room on the back was nice & quiet. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were cheap. Make your own waffles for breakfast plus enough other items that we stayed in for breakfast. Location not bad, with plenty of retail around and about a 10 minute drive to IU. Staff were all very nice and helpful, even when shorthanded on Sunday morning. Bloomington motel prices are too high, but TPS no more than anyone else. read more

Turned on the night stand light to see it was covered in dust Two black hairs on the lamp base next to the switch Spilled pop on the desk Popped popcorn left in the oven Black hairs all over the bath tub The treadmills in the gym have sweat marks all over from people nor staff cleaning the machines Breakfast options were rotten bananas or expired milk If I have the option to sleep in my rental car or at this TownePlace for free I would choose the trunk of my rental car. After this stay and experience I've cancelled all reservations I have coming up with Marriott and will be switching to Hampton or IHG. read more

This was a great place to stay. I was only there two nights, but it would have been more than suitable to stay longer. There was a full size kitchen that was fully equipped that i didn't even get a chance to use. I ate breakfast both days. They had continental selections as well as hot choices and a waffle station. I'm pretty much a waffle expert and this was one of the best ones I've had. The staff was all young and very friendly. They seemed to enjoy working there and wanted to make sure you felt comfortable. My room was spacious and clean. The wifi was easy to logon to and worked great. Parking was free and easy. I like that it was a smaller hotel because everything was close together and easy to get to. They had coffee and snacks available at all times, and a really great selection of sundries. I would definitely stay here again if i come back for Limestone Festival. read more

Stayed here for three days for a comedy festival. I got a large suite with a couch, kitchenette - with full sized fridge, stove, microwave, etc - and a desk/working space the size of Alaska which made it easy to get work done during my stay. Both the front desk staff and other staff I ran into during my stay were friendly and helpful. The property has an outdoor pool which was in service and a decent sized fitness room. Room was immaculate, wifi was strong, breakfast was good, this place was great and I'd recommend to anyone. read more

I was in Bloomington for work and loved coming back to this hotel in between. First things first, FRESH BAKED PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES ERRRY DAY!! Yes I am a grown woman who can afford to buy cookies but these were free and delicious, plus big things of grapefruit water all day in the lobby which I greatly appreciated because it was hot outside all weekend. Also, nice outdoor pool which was so warm! A ton of fresh towels for all 3 of us, quick response time anytime we called the front desk, and really nicely smelling bath products. Really solid hotel. Easy to get to, easy, quick trip to the city, where I had to go for work. Homey-feel to the rooms and the layout of the hotel. Doesn't have that stale, sterile feel that some hotels have. You feel comfortable almost upon entering. What compelled this review though was the service. I have been living at this motel on an extended business trip along with 20 colleagues. The place is filthy! The rooms are poorly maintained. They do not perform routine maintenance (such as changing or even using air conditioning filters). One colleague opened his air conditioning panel and found a filter so clogged with dust that the air could not even get through. Being consious of this, another colleague asked them to check her a/c filter. This time she watched while the a/c panel was removed. There was no filter in it! When she spoke to the manager about the issue he did not even apologize. If anything, she said he seemed defensive, making excuses for his poor management. Other issues : I and multiple colleages have had personal belongings stolen from our rooms. The upholstered furniture is very uncomfortable, sloping in the middle frrom excessive use. Bedroom drawers fall apart when pulled open. read more

My stay at the beautiful Towneplace Suites was incredible. I drove all day in the car, and was greeted by a warm, friendly receptionist who helped me check into my room early! The room was very clean and a little note from the management extended an invitation to call them if I needed anything. It's those small little touches that make this hotel extra special. Every day that I was there they served fresh baked cookies and coffee in the cozy common room/kitchen area which was where I spent a few hours getting some quiet work done. The hotel has something for everyone. The pool has a great deck area that is perfect for some pool time reading- which I did! I love that the hotel is close to downtown Bloomington, but far enough away that I could get a good night sleep. I had clean fresh towels every day, and the beds were large and VERY comfortable! All these wonderful things for a great affordable price. I highly recommend staying at Towneplace Suites in Bloomington, the best hotel in the city! read more
