1 occasion they pounded on my door while I was asleep for work to put a new bed in and opened the door. they opened the door today and walked into my room while i was sleeping. he walked out and shut the door then I got a phone call from the front desk. I'm booked and paid through my stay they didn't need anything. that is completely unprofessionally and makes me feel not safe and uncomfortable. there's also weird smells in the halls and some residents smoke weed and it travels under ur door into ur room. when I booked and stayed on other floors i also saw roaches mainly on the first floor. read more

Staying in a low-cost college town hotel probably comes with some downsides that I should just accept, but still, it seems like the Hampton used to be a higher-end chain than it currently is. The biggest detractor was the "breakfast", which was poorly supplied and was essentially cleaned-out and overrun by the guests. It reminded me of one of the scenes in episode 1 of The Walking Dead years ago, when all the grocery stores had been ransacked. The front desk check in was quick and friendly The room we got was a nice size with standard decor BUT it has not been cleaned properly. Ever sliding counter surface had stained and hadn't been wiped down. The grout in the shower is moldy. The floors have old footprints from past people that are signify larger than our small 6.5 sized feet. And stains on our sheets. Basic cleaning has not been done. read more

While the staff were nice and the rooms clean, I will not be staying again. There are gaps around the doors and you can hear every word of conversation, cough and toilet flush of your neighbors. There is no good way to put this. It totally sucked.... I've been here for three nights since my son had emergency medical procedure and stayed through the weekend - in each day it got worse. Despite my requests NO ONE EVER CLEANED our room for 3 days from Thurs-Sunday. Day one - entire shower assembly crashed ti the floor while I was showering g - fixed with tension rod later that day. They offer a breakfast and this morning the eggs were literally ice cold to the touch and they were out of just about everything else with 45 minutes left to go for breakfast. Our room has a hole cut out where the fridge would be... I was told it's now for luggage - maybe an extra sheet or blanket or towels next time in that space if your not going to clean - Just terrible service. Not enough staff present to cover this group of guests. Is this really a Hilton property? This is a bit of an older hotel. They are currently going through some much needed renovations to the rooms. We had one of the updated rooms but it was still kind of old looking and smelling, and pretty small as well. The place smelled kind of musty and grimey. Maybe it was the construction dust? I don't know. The breakfast was your average Hampton Inn type of stuff. The highlight was the fresh donuts from a local place that they served on Saturday and Sunday morning. Those donuts are delicious! Cookies served in the evening were also pretty tasty. An average hotel. Location is walkable to downtown, about a mile. There is a park right across the street for walking and jogging. There is a nature garden with lily ponds that are a nice break from the urbanity. Very close to IU campus. Location brings this from a 3 star joint to a 4 star. read more

I stayed here for 5 days while on a business trip in Bloomington, In. The hotel was decent no complaints on the staff. Unfortunately on one night I was woken up from my sleep due to pain I then realized I was being bitten by a bed bug. I then killed it and began to look for others. I found one on my headboard. Completely disgusted I called down to the front desk for assistance. The rep reported to my room right away with keys to a new room. I welcomed him in to see the bug himself, he was also very surprised and expressed his sincerest apologies. Once I was in the new room it was very hard to sleep due to my anxiety constantly making me check the sheets worrying there would be more bugs. On top of that the walls are very thin!! I could hear every conversation in the rooms next to mine. Unfortunately this will be my last stay in an Hampton Inn. read more

I am disappointed in the Hampton Inn ADA policy. If you need a walk in shower, you have no bars. If you have bars, you have a low bath tub and a shower chair. Staff was great. The beds were hard and the accessible rooms are not near the elevator. read more

I dont know where to begin. the doors to the rooms would not close, NO water pressure in sink, barely trickled out, room was dark and musty, and they sprayed cloying air freshener to cover up the smell. While hardly the lap of luxury, this hotel was a pleasant surprise based on my expectations. Actually, it was the room itself which gave us the most pleasure, because the lobby and common areas are exactly what one would imagine at the words "Hampton Inn." The rooms have obviously been refurbished recently, in a modern, tasteful, and--dare I say--almost sophisticated style. Everything looked and felt new, from the furniture to the carpet to the bedding to the bathroom fixtures. I'm staying here and the beds I liked a lot are hard and very comfortable but in the morning it was 9:15 in the morning and we touched the door that the rooms do and we had the little tartelito at the door of not disturbing and so on. everything touched us and I told them that we were busy and he said to it's good, when we arrived in the afternoon it was the room according to clean but ahy I leave the photos, very bad cleaning, bad bad bad. read more

I'm graciously giving this hotel a 3 because I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. Here are the goods, I was in town for a work trip so I was looking for a Hilton property and I wanted something centrally located, check & check. Free breakfast? Check. Positive reviews on Yelp? Check. When I got to my room, I noticed my pillows weren't neatly lined up on my bed (see my pic) and there were old room keys on the dresser - both were signs that made me feel like maybe my room hadn't been given a thorough cleaning. I chucked the 2 pillows and hit the rack for some Z's. I was in room 201 and soon found out what the problem was with that room - it's located right above the front doors - the dual electric sliding doors! Every time someone went through those doors, I heard the dual action as each door opened and closed - 4 sounds per person, mind you...all night long and early the next morning too. I considered changing rooms but the next day a busload of high school students heading for a campus visit of IU checked in so I was afraid I'd end up next to a room full of teens on a field trip. Other than that, the hotel staff was friendly, the breakfast was good and the room was nice. If I'm in town again, I might stay here again but I won't be staying in 201! read more

I was in Bloomington working over the weekend & could not be happier to have the Hampton Inn Bloomington as my oasis from the grind. My room was clean, had every amenity I could ask for, and I slept peacefully in their comfortable bed every night, waking refreshed for the next day. The best part of the visit though was on my last afternoon in town when I had some time off - I finally got to use their pool! I'd been eyeing it from my room all weekend, it was calling me. The temperature was perfect & it's positioned so that it gets sun all day so I went home a few shades darker - a bonus I was expecting! Who knew you could get a tan in Indiana? As a frequent traveler, I can be pretty numb to the staff who works behind the rental car, airline, and hotel front desks. I know where the food is served, how the bathrooms work, and I am fully capable of operating my own personal alarm clock in order to wake for my day. However, the friendly, kind, sweet, and genuine staff working at this hotel always gives me pause when I check in. Their nice and they know me and they make it a point to provide quality service based on the individual. The room are standard by Hampton standards but they are clean and decently laid out. My rooms have a fridge and they have a few two room suites with whirlpool bathtubs. It's not as nice as the HGI downtown and it's a bit of a walk from anything other than the Great Wall but it's a warm and friendly place to sleep for an evening. read more

This was pretty stock as far as a Hampton Inn goes and was expected. What was not expected was the staff. Everyone I came in contact with was super pleasant. About 20 minutes after check in, we were in a room and got a call from the front desk asking if everything was to my liking in the room. I've stayed in a wide variety of hotels, and I have NEVER had someone do that before. The breakfast was pretty standard but hot/cold (as required by the product), well stocked, and organized. The pool, as someone already mentioned, is outdoors. The fitness room consists of 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, and 1 stairclimber. The sign in the fitness room in big red letters states that anyone under 18 is not allowed on the equipment, so you can imagine my displeasure when someone on the treadmill allowed her probably 8 year old daughter take up the other one and didn't tell her to get off when my husband and walked in. 0 stars on her consideration for others and parenting but not really Hampton Inn's problem. read more

This hotel has gone downhill. Ive stayed here 5 times in 3 years and the last two are not worth repeating. Time for a total overhaul. Needs a total remodel. Housekeeping no longer cares and missed my room today. Awakened last night at 2am by a roudy group and could swear that I saw a working girl in the lobby when I arrived. I stay at Hampton Inns often and this one needs improvement. Will stay elsewhere on my next trip to bloomington. On the positive: The front desk staff is very good but they need a better property. I stayed at the Hampton Inn last week on a business trip. The room was immaculate, with a big soft bed that made me what to buy a new mattress when I got home. The staff was professional, the free coffee was a life saver, and the location was walking distance from downtown. Most importantly the room was beautifully laid out to get some work done when I needed a quiet space and unlike many hotels the Wi-Fi was fast and ready for work. Was here in October 2016 for my cousin's wedding. Very ample parking and friendly staff to greet you. Free breakfast buffet in the morning with make your own waffles, oatmeal and other Breakfast items. Coffee and hot water for tea are available in the lobby near the front desk. Comfortable beds and furniture in my room. There is a workout room and an outdoor pool. . Checked out early to make it to the airport. Enjoyed my stay thoroughly. read more

The hotel is under construction and it is well deserved and hope they address the rooms, lobby area, dinning area and the food but I really think the task to move a mountain would be easier. read more

Booked two rooms adjoining for an overnight stay. Spoke to the front desk twice prior to our arrival to make sure they could accommodate our request. They did and they were, each and every time, extremely polite and very professional as they were the day of check in. I am a stickler for a couple things when staying in hotels and a clean bathroom is one of them. I won't go into graphic detail here but suffice it to say our toilet was NOT clean, and right there - for me that is a problem. The sheets and towels were clean and the bed was comfortable, no other cleanliness issues arose thankfully but basic housekeeping should have caught this. Being a college town if there's one thing adults need it's a decent cup of coffee to get them going. Both my better half and I agreed that the coffee provided in the lobby was very weak. The robust was no where even close to being a decent cup of coffee. I love the fact that coffee is available at all times but it needs to be potable. We are early risers and instead of being able to enjoy a hot cup at the hotel, we had to head out to find a decent cup of coffee which wasn't that easy. Other than those two specific issues mentioned, the hotel on a whole was average. Nothing special. Will try a different hotel on our next visit to Bloomington. read more

The Hampton Inn would not be my first choice for accommodations in Bloomington if I had unlimited travel funds. However, seeing as it is typically lower cost than most of the hotels down on the square, it will probably continue to be my choice for the next few years until my wallet is a little thicker. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the rooms are kept nicely and are a pretty standard setup. However, I do find it strange that there's no fan in the bathrooms - makes for a hot and sticky post-shower prep. The walls are also really thin and if anyone is having a conversation in the hallway near your room, they might as well be standing IN your room. Unfortunately, last time I was there I left my phone in the room. Housekeeping checked but couldn't find it, so we had to come back and look. Turned out to be just under the bedskirt. Makes me wonder if they really looked or how long it would have been sitting there? Like I said, this is fine for now, but won't always be my go-to. read more

We stayed here May 25th through 27th of this year (2016), and had a wonderful experience. Clean, well kept rooms, usually a given. The big thing was the staff. From front desk to housekeepers, everyone was invariably cheerful and helpful. Especially Kelly Staggs, Guest Services Manager, who helped my wife in a bit of an emergency to get some materials copied and collated for a presentation, and also kept track of her folder when she inadvertently left it at the desk in all the commotion. We were totally impressed with the service here. Hampton is always "good value for money" and we really enjoyed our stay in Bloomington. As Kelly said, it's just "Hoosier hospitality!" I had a concern about a possible bed bug situation after getting home and waking up with a swollen, itchy arm. After multiple calls to customer service and the local property, I've yet to receive a return call. I was told that I should have gotten a call within 72 hours of my first contact, but it's been 9 days. So if you stayed in Room 401 after us, sorry. I don't know if there was a problem but I did what I could to alert them to the possibility. We will not be staying there again. read more
