I'm a new patient at Town Center. Definitely like the vibe in this office. Everyone is very nice, the equipment is new, and best of all, Dr. Nicolas is a terrific practitioner! Very thorough. I went in for a burning poke in my back/shoulder. Had it for about 2 weeks every day. NOTE: My body doesn't traditionally give up a lot of "clicks" but Dr. Nic has gotten more from me in 2 visits than I've ever had before. I think the fact that they have you lay on an automatic massage table (with heat!) for 10 minutes prior to seeing the Doc is the key. I'm a new patient coming here as I was recently in a car accident. I was very much anti-physical therapy because it's both costly & time consuming. I'm a very busy person. Given my pain and my need for this therapy, I come here. Although hours are limited (as compared to when I'm available), staff are flexible. I really appreciate the text confirmations & reminders for the visits. Dr. Nicolas is very passionate about his work & his patients. He truly cares and functions with integrity. I've only been coming for 2 weeks but I see a lot of (positive) difference in how he works as compared to the two other chiro offices I've used previously. It may seem like a mill (they all do), but it's actually a perfectly timed well oiled machine. He's thorough and takes his time. He doesn't push products on you to purchase. He's doesn't do the bare minimum as an effort to just collect funds and shove you out the door. His clientele is diverse in age & ethnicities. His bedside manner is universally liked & appreciated. I can't speak on the effectiveness because I am just two weeks in. I've gone to a chiropractor a few times before and all offices are set up differently. There is of course a reception area & two waiting areas. Unlike the other offices, this office uses machinery. There are four rooms. Room 1: Consult room that has the chiro table, an X-ray machine and a few chairs. Room 2: Has 4 or 5 beds. These beds have heat, vibrate and have a rolling pin to help loosen your back. Dr. Nicholas and his staff are A1. I've been suffering from lower back pain for a few years and finally setup an appointment to get it addressed. Dr. Nicholas did such a thorough evaluation that he caught that he could, not only help me with my lower back pain, but my chronic migraines as well. His staff are A1 when it comes to customer service and a smooth checkin/checkout process. I had one of the best adjustments I've had in a while and Dr. Nicholas is extremely personable. Dr. Nicholas knows what he's doing. I am extremely active and have my personal chiropractor in LA that I visit on a regular basis to keep my body in line. I flew in on business while I was having issues with my shoulder and ribs. I called several chiropractors and that pretty much give me the runaround, I'm no stranger to chiropractor's, I know the spiel. His receptionist Melissa, Was amazing and got me in the same day as her last patient. Technically he was closed, yet he still took me in. I walked in having a difficult time breathing because of a nerve issue, I walked out of there singing and dancing. He definitely knows what he's doing and I extremely recommend them. read more

Town Center Chiropractic is located in the heart of Columbia. Dr. Philip Nicholas provides a wholistic approach to the healing art of his chiropractic practice. This is the most efficiently run practice that I've ever experienced. You are greeted at the front desk by Melissa who efficiently starts you on your appointment and you are moved to the warm up room where you lay on a heated massage table to loosen your spine and prepare you for your adjustment. From there you move to the adjustment room where Dr. Nicholas tells you what your treatment plan is. He also confirms the location and level of pain that you are experiencing. His experienced hands move deftly across your spine and proceed to adjust the malaligned areas. From start to finish the process takes a half hour to 40 minutes. When I came to Dr. Nicholas my back and cervical spine we're completely out of adjustment. I could barely turn my neck, my lumbar spine was a mess and my hip was incredibly painful. I was unable to walk or perform any type of bending motion. After being treated by Dr. Nicholas, I am walking again and my hip is completely pain-free to the point where I no longer need steroid injections. After relocating to the MD area, I went to Dr. Nicolas to help me better understand my lower back pain. I have experienced these lower back aches and pains for over a decade, to the point that I may have "normalized" what my body has been feeling. My appointment was at 5:45pm (a typical time for their office to see new patients), and on my own accord I arrived 15 minutes early to ensure I was able to fill out any new patient paperwork and Dr. Nicolas would be able to take me promptly at 5:45pm. The paperwork was rather easy, with checkboxes and a 1"x1" diagram of the human body where I could circle where I was experiencing discomfort ...while I completed the paperwork, I still wanted to talk to Dr. Nicolas about how I was feeling. I was escorted to the patient room at 5:45pm, and waited for Dr. Nicolas to arrive ... which was not until 20 mins later at 6:05pm. When Dr. Nicolas arrived, he acknowledged that he was late (to which I appreciated). He reviewed the paperwork that I filled out and asked me what I pain was I feeling ... I was excited that he wanted to talk about it, because I did not know if my pain was normal (because I had been feeling it since my growing pains of teenage years) or genuinely a misalignment of my body. I eagerly start the conversation with "Great! I really want to talk this out ..." As I start to describe to Dr. Nicolas my symptoms, he says "While I am listening to you, I am going to mute you." ... I was instantly taken aback as I have never been so dismissed in my life, it was hurtful. After he "mute" me (aka, told me to stop talking)... he made it clear to provide direct answers to his questions, no details. And to better make it his point of "mute me" ... he said "are you wearing sneakers?" to which I responded "yes." And then said "are you wearing a Georgetown shirt?" and again, I said "yes." And he said those are the kind of answers he was expecting. So 3 minutes into our experience together .... He dismissed and insulted my intelligence. As we continued the conversation, I quickly became insecure about my responses as I did not want to be offended again with an idiot lesson, and gave one worded answers to his questions and did not give any details (at his request). Dr. Nicolas noticed my demeanor changed but took me into a different room where he began to perform adjustments ... he tried to make small talk, but it is very hard to receive someone well when they have already dismissed/insulted you. After the adjustments ... he asked me if I felt better, to which I kind of shrugged as I did not know how to respond anymore with words. He said "you probably do not feel different ... as I cannot treat you easily, because I don't know what you were feeling initially." To which I looked and said "yea" because he did not know what I was feeling because he dismissed when I was trying to initially explain. I was the last patient in the office, so Dr. Nicolas walked me to the front to process my copay and said "you look disappointed" ... and I said "I am, but not from the adjustments or treatments ... it is just hard to receive someone well when the literally told you that they are going to "mute" you." Dr. Nicolas acknowledge his wrong doing and said that he needs to talk to his Business Manager to better understand how to speak to people ... and apologized several times. While he did apologize, I did not accept it or make light of the situation by saying "it is ok" ... because it wasn't. He continued to apologize as I stared at him and politely said goodbye and left. Overall, I imagine Dr. Nicolas could be are great chiropractor ... however he lacks bedside manners, and being in an industry which is directly people related, his skills need to improve. I do not believe you need a Business Manager to coach you on being nice, it is nature ... not nurtured, and a poor excuse for him dismissing/insulting me. read more

I have had chronic back and neck pain that has significantly subsided since I have been treated by Dr. Nicholas. He is extremely caring, sincere, and most of all COMPETANT! I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Phillip Nicolas yesterday at a chiropractic convention in Dallas TX. I am a chiropractor myself so I know what it feels like to get an amazing adjustment and that's just what Dr. Phillip did for me. I had flown in from Phoenix Arizona for the same conference with terrible neck pain that was radiating into my right upper back and shoulder. I aggravated an old disc bulge in my neck overdoing it lifting weights. It had been hurting for over a week. I was stretching it and rubbing it myself to no avail and was starting to think I may need an MRI when I got back to Phoenix. There were plenty of adjusting tables there since the seminar was at a chiropractic university and It took him just seconds to figure out where my spine was misaligned and not functioning correctly.
