But what truly made my experience exceptional was the customer service I received from Sheila. I was in dire need of two tires. I had gone to nearly every used tire shop in Lima, as well as several auto wrecking places, trying to find what I needed. Finally, one of those places suggested that I check with Kenny's Auto Parts. I called, and a lady named Sheila answered the phone. She told me she had three tires in the size I needed, but unfortunately, they were all mismatched. I went there intending to purchase two of them, but after thinking about it, I decided I really did not want mismatched tires. So I thanked her and decided to leave. Now, let me tell you about Sheila... Sheila is not the kind of person who simply comes to work, puts in her hours, and collects a paycheck. She genuinely cares about helping people. I think she could see how disappointed and distraught I was. I had already searched all over Lima, and at that point, I really didn't know what I was going to do next. I was just about to pull out when Sheila came back outside and said, "Hold on just a minute. Let me look one more place." She could have simply let me leave. She had already done what was expected of her. But instead, she took it upon herself to search again. And lo and behold, after doing some more searching, Sheila came back and told me she had found THREE MATCHING TIRES! I was absolutely ecstatic! THAT is what I call exceptional customer service! There is a big difference between simply doing your job and genuinely caring about the person standing in front of you. Sheila went that extra mile for me when she didn't have to, and that meant more to me than she probably realizes. I purchased two of the matching tires that day, and I was so pleased with them--and with the wonderful service I received--that I went back the very next day and purchased the third matching tire. I have never gone to a business where someone worked so hard to help me find a matching set of tires. Sheila's patience, persistence, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond turned what had been a very stressful and frustrating situation into a wonderful experience. I bought 2 quarts of oil, poured it in and it immediately poured right back on the ground. The station owners gave Mack Automotive's phone number; I called and Colin said he would come up and look at it and then come back after they closed and tow it to their place. After they closed he came up with his truck and a jack and fellow mechanics. They jacked it up and started checking on things, deciding that it was most likely the oil pan plug had come out. I am a mechanic's son and could tell from their diagnostic discussions that they were all experienced mechanics. They removed the under body pan and found the plug. They reinstalled it and added oil. The car started and sounded normal. Since the car had been serviced about two weeks earlier in IL they told me that I should call the dealer right then and there to report this incident, which I did before I started on. As I said, Colin and his crew are seasoned mechanics. But they are also good people. They could have said it was after hours and they would tow it to their place and work on it tomorrow. But they worked on it right there in the gas station lot, and I was on my way. Thank you, Colin and crew. You saved my trip to see my relatives!

At 11am I called to inquire about installation of a remote car starter that I bought myself and…read morethey said yes, we can do it, in fact bring it in today, so I set up an appointment for 1pm that same day. I dropped the vehicle and remote starter off at 12:55pm and gave them my cell phone number and they told me it would take about an hour and they would call me when its ready. After not hearing from them for 2 hours and since my home was an hour away and I was tired of just hanging out in town, I stopped back by their shop and they said they were just starting on it because they had 2 emergencies come in. What possible emergencies at an auto sound shop, I don't know, but anyhow I waited. Overall it took 3-1/2 hrs to get the 1 hour job done, but they did a good job and were friendly about it. They also charged me $50 over the quoted install price $285 total including labor, bypass module, and wiring harness, plus I bought the remote starter myself so I had a total of almost $400 in this experience, a lot more than their advertised $140 remote car starters - installed on the front of the shop. 3 stars averages out for friendly and good service, vs misleading pricing and putting 2 walk in customers in front of my scheduled appointment. I think thats a pretty fair review.
