Even went and tried to pick up the late folks at another location, which they did not show to. Steve was wonderful!! Stopped at Madonna Winery with a beautiful and informative tour. Steve gave us the time we needed to all be happy with the experience and get everyone back on board timely. The second winery was great with a wonderful ambiance of art and high end personal experience feeling. The view at Ru Vango is one of the most beautiful we've seen. This operation gets only two stars from me because their brochure is inaccurate about one of their trips. I chose them over another tour because the brochure said I would have 90 minutes at Muir Woods. Other companies only said 75 minutes. We got off the bus at Muir Woods a few minutes after 12 and had to be back on the bus at 1:20pm. So, effectively we only had the same 75 minutes to hike and explore. I was not pleased. The bus itself was fine and the driver was okay (although he talked non-stop for the entire ride on the loudspeaker, which I did not appreciate). On the way back I got off the bus in Sausalito and took the ferry, which I highly recommend. If you enjoy hiking and exploring the outdoors I'd suggest you consider alternatives that allow you to spend more time at Muir Woods. read more

One of the many, many tour options available to you while you are venturing in San Francisco. We went on a tour through them that included Alcatraz Island in the morning followed by an afternoon tour throughout various attractions in San Francisco. SERVICE: 9/10 We had various drivers, I believe 3 in total. The best one was a younger one named Constantine who was incredibly knowledgable about the architecture and history of the city which was great. He was also funny, personable and overall entertaining. Unfortunately we did not get him again in the afternoon and instead got an older gentleman who talked less about the history and architecture and more about random tidbits and tangents. Regardless, I still had a good experience. VALUE: 8/10 For the cost of admission, I think the price is rather fair and competitive compared to other tour groups. I understand that everyone has to hurry up and be somewhere but this driver made several dangerous turns . We went on the Wine Country tour with Tower Tours last week. Excited about the recent addition of Robert Mondavi to their itinerary. Was amazed at how comprehensive the winery tour was at R. Mondavi. They made us pick and taste the grapes from the vine, and then showed us the processing and storage of the wine. Super impressed! We also went to 2 smaller family owned wineries which were lovely as well. Wine tasting is included. On top of that, PATRICK, our tour guide is awesome! He is by far, the best tour guide we've ever met! Attentive, knowledgeable, great at pacing his commentaries, and overall just gives you the feeling of sincere, personalized service. We were in a full sized coach, super well maintained, modern and comfortable. I loved being in a big bus because you can stretch your legs, some even taking 2 seats to themselves to nap during the drive. There's a toilet in the back of the bus, which is a huge bonus. Made booking online & I also called their #, I had a few questions. Immediately received confirmation. Than received many emails confirming my upcoming trip,last one was the night before for 7-1-22. Walked down to tower tours, wish they had hotel pick up. Bus came on time. Ride was short, visited 3 wineries, the first was Madonna winery, the man Justin, was curt & rude. The other 2 winery's were fantastic, employees very friendly, SutterHome & Kieu Hoang, both had beautiful grounds,breathtaking views & super nice Hostess's. Ride back was also short. I had an un-planned morning and wanted to see as much of the city as I could, so I decided to book a city tour through my hotel. Glad I did!! They picked me up from my hotel early in the morning (in a huge bus), and we made our way to the tour company office. I paid, got my free disposable camera because I checked in on Yelp (woo!), and boarded the big city tour bus. It was more standardized and wasn't as intimate as my only other recent bus tour experience (in Seattle), but I was really happy I decided to take the tour because I got to see a LOT of places, hear some stories, and take some great pictures. After the tour, the bus driver took an extra 10-15 minutes to drop me off at my hotel. Not sure why they decided to deliver me to my door while everyone else got dropped off in more popular places or at the Tower Tours office, but I was definitely happy about it. read more

I will state the pros first. We booked the tour from the Hilton hotel which gave us a $3 discount on our $53 tour which made them $50 per person. That was kind of nice. The tour itself was a great overview on the entire city and the driver was great at driving! The people on the tour were prompt on timing so no one was left behind and we did not have to wait on anyone so that was also very nice. The places that we drove by were quite brisk, though and that was sad. We did stop at Lands End which was a breathtaking view of the ocean, Twin peaks, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Alright so here come the cons. We could not understand the tour guide for the life of us. His speech was slurred and he talked very very very very fast and non-rhythmically. He would practically rap some parts of what he was saying and then slow down on the parts that were really not that important. He was also yelling into the mic so that was also not very helpful .. to have noise blaring at your ears. I ended up wearing earplugs, taking Tylenol and Advil, and taking a nap about 50% of the tour. I think the driver was also the guide so maybe the company should provide one of each so that they can concentrate on doing their one task correctly and efficiently. (pleasantly too) I hate to see such great reviews and be a stickler for leaving such a bad one but that was my experience ... :( read more

I booked with Tower Tours last week and cannot be happier!!! To start with, the booking process was very easy. Cassie Jew who assisted me with booking is amazing! She is very knowledgeable and attentive and I had my confirmation email within 2 minutes. Our driver/guide was very nice, funny, answered to all my questions (it was my first time to Yosemite and as there is no phone reception obviously I had many questions :)) ). The bus was very comfortable with AC on. She gave us a map of the Yosemite Valley and it was very easy for me to navigate and see as many things as possible. I highly recommend this amazing company. I especially recommend them to tourists who have never been to San Francisco and want to have an amazing experience (I know they do wine tours, Monterey/Carmel day trips, etc etc). The Booking/Reservation I booked the tour through GuideYou.com and I was going in hoping that the website was not a scam. Thankfully, it wasn't and I've booked the "COMBO - City Tour & Muir Woods & Sausalito" it leads me to Tower Tours. Tower Tours will be the one conducting the tour on the day. The Tour Because we lived in Union Square, the tour provides a complimentary hotel pick up (PLUS! PLUS! PLUS!) They picked us up at 8:00 am, even though it was early it was convenient for us and my parents. Then we were brought to their office located at Fisherman's Wharf. The tour started on time at 9:00 am. The tour guide was friendly and informative. He even offered to take pictures. There were a few stops to take pictures and we were given 20 minutes max, we stopped at the Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate, Golden Gate National Park, ​and Twin Peaks By around 12:00 pm the city tour ended and we were given 1 hour and 15 mins lunch break. We were drop off at their office, which is located at Fisherman's Wharf. We walked to Boudin for 10mins walk. Then we went back to the office for our second part of the tour. The Muir woods was gorgeous and Sausalito was nice too. The tour concluded with a choice of getting back by bus and drop you off at the hotel or by ferry (Additional cost) that will stop at Fisherman's Wharf. We chose to head back with the bus. Dislikes/Concern The only thing that we didn't like was the city tour was too quick and some places they didn't get to stop. If the tour will not make a stop, I wish the bus had an open-air upper deck where we can take pictures. But other than that, It was enjoyable and convenient for my parents. My parents enjoyed it. I think this is great for somebody who is​ older or just wants​ to see San Francisco in a glimpse. But for the younger crowd or people who love taking photos, I would rather take the hop on hop off bus and explore the places myself read more

That's right, my review is based on their city tour from 2005, but it's great to see so many positive reviews over the past few years because they deserve every heap of praise they get. I was bombarded with myriad tour choices a few years ago and found Tower Tours via Trip Advisor. I cannot suggest the Grand City Tour enough. It'll take a good chunk of a day, but man...try walking or navigating SF's Muni system to cover all the sites seen on the schedule, and you'll know why touring is the best. Wow. Comfy buses, a decent number of stops (one of which was totally for buying touristy stuff and snacks, but that was ok), and a very knowledgeable tour guide and driver that keep the pace going. Prices have gone up about 25% for the grand tour we took, but gas has skyrocketed over the years, too. Believe me: worth every penny. Five stars from me? You better believe it. Took the MUIR WOODS TOUR on 9/14/2021 with GEORGE as our driver and guide. He is a very friendly, informative, funny and a good driver. UNFORTUNATELY he doesn't understand how to wear a mask. His MASK WAS ON HIS CHIN not covering his mouth or nose NOT ONCE! We took city buses everywhere all over the city for nine days and every driver and every rider was properly wearing their masks. We were impressed with this. Way to go San Francisco. MUIR WOODS is a must to visit. You truly need more than 90 minutes though. We were told by GEORGE that the staircase to the right in the trail is an hour walk. We must of misunderstood him, for that trail is a few hours and we turned around when we asked other hikers how much further. They said it was not an hour trail and to turn around. We did and barely made it back within our 90 minutes. So don't take the long right staircase unless you plan on turning around. It was quiet and gorgeous and we were alone most of the time on the trail. Seems the tour lost two international travelers. They never came back. GEORGE called the company to inform them of who was missing. He waited at least 15 minutes or more past the time we were to leave. We hope they made it back safe. read more

While visiting San Francisco, we made an excellent choice in selecting Tower Tours for our journey north across the Golden Gate into Napa, and Sonoma Valley for a wine tasting tour to the California Wine Country. Our 9 hour tour from San Francisco included exclusive estate tours of popular wineries: the well known Robert Monidavi Winery, and two boutique wineries Madonna Estate, and Andretti Winery. The three individual wine tours, and tasting for each winery were included in the total tour package. Our tour guide, Marco, was very informative, and an accommodating driver. There was a 90 minute stop in Yountville, where we were able to grab lunch at La Calenda. There are many other options for lunch, or to explore the local boutiques during our lunch break. After an incredibly bad experience with Gray Line of San Francisco we were about to give up on booking any other tours here. But we ended up booking with Tower Tours to visit Monterey and Carmel... I must say it was one of the best decisions and experiences ever! We were picked up at our hotel, taken to the main office to process paperwork, which was fast and painless! Soon after we boarded the bus, we were greeted by our tour guide, Patrick. What a nice man! He was funny, entertaining, polite, professional, and a great driver! This company violated local laws on our tour including driving into Alamo square. It is illegal to drive passenger vehicles with more than 8 seats within a block of Alamo square. Our tour bus not only ignored the official drop off zone established by the 5 year old law but actually drove into Alamo square proper. There are plenty of tour companies in San Francisco, please choose one that doesn't purposefully ignore the laws and disrespect the city and its residents. read more

I booked this last minute literally at 7:30 am via Viator website.  I was pretty impressed that I got a call right away from Tower Tours saying someone was going to pick me up at my lobby in 10 minutes. The tour was a small group of 12 people in a comfortable van bus with big windows. Our driver Patrick was not only a real gentleman but very informative without over doing it. We visited three wineries, Madonna, Sutter and Sebastiani. Madonna is artisanal and poured liberally. Sutter was ok, nothing special but the grounds were nice to walk in. Sebastiani gave us a little more insight into their winemaking process and had a nice indoor barrel setting. We didn't see any actual vineyards and wished I had seen lessor know wines I can't get back in Montreal. The lunch stop in Sonoma Square gave us copious time to eat and check out some sights. While there I had a great artisanal cheese and wine tasting at La Bodega Cheese Shop then an awsome lunch at The Girl and the Fig. Left hotel at 7 and was back at 6. I called the night before the tour and we were placed with Tower Tours by the third-party agent that we found the City Guide Book. However, the morning we arrived at Tower Tours, they didn't let us on their Wine (Day) Tour bus and didn't give us explanation until after the bus was full and left for the tour that their bus was already full so they were reassigning us to other companies instead. They ended up giving us to the Greyline's (Day) Tour, which is slightly cheaper than the retail price of Tower Tours. Horrible! What if a customer signed up with Tower Tours because they wanted to go to the wineries that Tower Tours specifically visited? If I knew we were going to be assigned to Greyline's tour, I wouldn't have booked the tour at all! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TOWER TOURS EVER. HIGHLY DISORGANIZED! read more

We scheduled a Muir Woods tour several months before our visit. The tour was supposed to be guided and include the entrance fee to the Park. The tour was not guided. We spent approximately 25-30 minutes getting into the park because the state park employees wanted us to pay the entrance fee of 15. Per person because the tour had not given us the correct tickets. We will not be using this company again and we recommend you look for another tour company. read more

We toured districts where we were informed of the areas and why they came to be. We had a few stops where we could get out, use restrooms or get some food & drink. I am super divided on how to rate this tour. There were quite a few perks, but unfortunately there were quite a few cons that I think are important to note when making a decision. This review is strictly for the Wine Country Tour, as I have not taken any others. Pros: 1. Our driver, Patrick, was AWESOME! He was a nice, personable guy who really seemed to love his job. He tried to make an effort to make everyone feel important, and he was surprisingly patient with all of the stupidity that he had to put up with at times. He even made a little pit stop to allow us to climb out and take a photo with the famous "Welcome to Napa Valley" sign. He tried really hard to be a good host, and he definitely was. Also, he seemed to learn my first name immediately, and he called me by it throughout the whole tour. I was one of the few solo guests on the tour, so maybe that made me stand out, but I liked that personal touch. Finally, he is a great driver and really handled the messiness of driving in the city. 2. Tasting fees are included. This is a big deal. Tasting fees at two of the three wineries were $20 each. (I don't know what the other charged.) When you do the math, it saves quite a lot of money to include the fees. 3. A google search pretty quickly found me a 20% off coupon, which got me a fabulous deal that made this tour way more affordable compared to the others. This was a saving grace because I think I would have been way more unhappy if I had paid full price. 4. No DUI. Need I say more there? Patrick did the driving, and there were a lot of lightweights on the tour that really should be thanking him for that! 5. Hotel drop off. I got lucky because my hotel was the second stop back into San Francisco, so I was out of the bus pretty quickly, and it was convenient to be let off one block away. Now, for the less good stuff. Cons: 1. The tour was WAY TOO BIG. When my hotel concierge recommended another tour (that was way pricier) that capped its tours at 12 people, I didn't really understand. Holy chardonnay, do I understand now. You want to be on a small tour. Huge tours, especially at something like a winery, are agony. There were easily 50 people on my tour. When you have that many people, it is nothing short of herding cats. There were those who were slow (either due to mobility issues or just because they didn't care about anyone but themselves), there were those who were late, there were those who couldn't hold their alcohol. Sure, you get these on a tour of any number, but when there is a full sized bus packed to capacity trying to go into wineries and do tastings, it is just horrible. Due to the size of the group alone, I would strongly recommend a different tour, even if it costs extra money. Also, it was odd that we picked up random people who needed a ride back to San Francisco, and I had to spend 2 hours sitting next to a stranger because the bus was so full there wasn't enough room for them to sit together. (Same message, different words: TOUR TOO BIG.) 2. The wineries selected were not great. Actually, no... Madonna Estates and Sebastiani were fabulous with well-done presentations. Sutter Home is garbage. Sutter Home is garbage you buy in the grocery store when you have to bring something to a party you don't particularly want to go to. Sutter Home specializes in white zinfandel. I don't think I need to even explain beyond that. Honestly, SH was a waste of money and time. It was impersonal, commercial, and the wine wasn't even good. Tower needs to cut them and cut them fast; however, there might not be that many options when you have 50 people. Tower ought to also cut the group sizes, for that matter. Neutral: 1. Lunch was not included. This was good for me because I didn't have to be horsed with trying to explain that I need a vegan option. Instead, I could go forth and forage for my own food. Also, it is good because you're not paying extra for food that may not even be good or your first choice. That said, some people really like having it all included, and this one didn't include lunch, so I will call it a neutral. 2. The bus was comfortable enough, but it was still a huge bus that was packed to capacity. Also, poor Patrick was having all kinds of difficulty with his microphone. But the bus was clean and not terribly uncomfortable. Long story short: This is a perfectly acceptable wine tour if you don't mind crowds, you aren't super into wine, and/or you're looking for a more economical option. If you can swing it, I would recommend a smaller tour that goes to more boutique wineries. But you probably won't lose anything if you take this tour, especially if you don't know the difference between a pinot noir and a pinot gris. read more

This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Spoke to a woman about making reservations and she told me that I had to send an email with the Go card information. I sent it to the email she gave me and it bounced back. Twice. She tried convincing me that I was typing the email in wrong. I work in IT and know how to type in an email. She was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. She told me there were no longer any tickets until Tuesday, the day I had told her I go back home. Interesting, because 10 minutes before that there were tickets available. She also told me the manager said my only option was to email them and once again (3rd time) obviously gave me the wrong email. I asked to speak to the manager and magically he was 'no longer there'. Absolutely ridiculous. I have never left a bad review before but I guess there's a first for everything. Don't even want to give this one star but it doesn't give you the choice of 0. read more
