Tous Les Jours is a bit of a hit-or-miss for me. I can't say I like everything on the menu but I can't say it's a terrible place 1/10 never eat here location. If anything, it's good if you want an alternative to Bread Talk but I wouldn't say it's an all-out substitute for Bread Talk.
Take their seasonal offering last October: pumpkin muffins. Those were good. They were so good I probably had one every two weeks. You had a nicely sized muffin with this sweet pumpkin filling which went absolutely perfect with a cup of coffee. Now it's gone and I'll probably have to wait until next October to see it again. I mean, the flavors are all in the right places... I guess it's just that some things seem to be lacking. Maybe it was the texture of the Black Rice bread that turned me off. It felt like something between a bun and a piece of mochi... but maybe that was the point and I missed it entirely. The custard cream and the red bean things are alright too.
And have I mentioned they have pretty cute cakes?
For what it's worth, I can't really pick a favorite. Sometimes I feel like Bread Talk, sometimes I want to give these guys a try. There's just something about Tous Les Jours I can't put my finger on but it's so blatantly Korean. Not that it's a bad thing. It's just really obvious from the moment you set foot in the store. Plus points though, it's not as crowded as Bread Talk usually is. read more
