It is absolutely stunning and ridiculously beautiful here! My recommended spots - in order of preference. Also a crowd meter 1-3, with 3 being very crowded. * Positano. The iconic, glamorous town cascading down a cliff. Beautiful but steep, 2.5 crowded. * Ravello: A peaceful hilltop town famous for gardens, villas, music, and panoramic views. 2.0 crowded. * Maiori and Minori: Flatter, more practical towns with larger beaches and generally better value. 1.5-2.0 crowded. I really like it here. * Amalfi: Too touristy, but why not - you're here. A lively historic town with an impressive cathedral and convenient boat and bus connections. 3.0 Very crowded. The food service seemed somewhat disorganized, and the featured pasta dish was particularly disappointing. Given the farm-to-table description, I was expecting a meal that showcased fresh, locally sourced ingredients with more depth of flavor and creativity. Unfortunately, the pasta sauce was quite plain and lacked the richness and seasoning one would anticipate from a signature farm-to-table offering. Even a small addition of meat, vegetables, or more robust seasoning would have significantly improved the dish. While the wine experience was worthwhile, the lunch did not match the quality or expectations set by the tour description. With some attention to the food preparation and service, the overall experience could be much stronger.

This place has it all - winery, resort, horse stables, and restaurant. There rooms have a queen bed with a pullout couch and an amazing patio with privacy. The room is very cozy and has a stocked refrigerator of drinks and snacks. The bathroom is very nice and has a walk-in shower and dual shower heads. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They will assist with making any reservations within the resort or setting up excursions. Breakfast is included in your stay. They offer pastries, juice and some hot items. For gluten free they have bread, muffins and cookies. There is also an epic pool with lots of chairs and a pool bar. The towels are wrapped in plastic and the servers will bring you anything you ordered. We had an limoncello spritz and GF snacks. The staff will also give you a tour of the property. It's kept up immaculately and the views are incredible. We also had dinner at the restaurant. They offer GF pasta and other dishes. The pasta was delicious! The resort scheduled a private Pompeii ruins tour for us. They suggest morning or afternoon due to the hot weather. The tour was incredible and the guide was very knowledgeable. There is also a stable where you can take lessons. We didn't opt to do it this time but my dad and I tried last year. You can also schedule a wine tasting. All their wines are made with volcanic grapes and are natural. We were able to try 4 wines with a shot of limoncello. Lunch is also included and can be made GF. Overall had an amazing experience and will definitely continue to come back.

Despite having many options for ferries in NYC, planning a ferry trip in Italy was new to me, and I…read moredidn't know what to expect. Thankfully the process was pretty easy with Travelmar. Tickets can be booked online in advance on their website (I added that to this listing!), payable by credit card. Or in person via cash or card at a ticket office, this one being located on the extended jetty/wharf of the Porto Turistico right before you line up for embarkation. Prices depend on distance (departure/arrival ports) and from what I could tell are fixed pricing. From Salerno to Amalfi was €12 one way, and took about 35 minutes. From Amalfi to Positano €10 one way and 25 minutes. Open seating, no assigned spots. From scouring Reddit, it appears the ferry seats generally don't sell out, though during peak seasons better to arrive earlier if there's an inclement weather forecast later in the day, since sometimes certain departure times can be canceled. When that happens if there is enough demand, they might add a secondary boat for the next departure time if available. The ferry fleet aren't all the same, however generally will have two levels, lower level being inside and upper level with open air views of the surroundings. Sitting on top was windy in April though fine with a light jacket. Expect a little spray and some turbulence depending on the water conditions for the day. Some ferry boats have a snack stand, and on this ferry the crew also sold water, candy, chips/cookies, soft drinks and alcohol (Aperol spritzes available here too!) mostly beer and a few simple cocktails, by bringing options around to seated passengers. No pressure to buy. In general crew seemed jovial amongst themselves. One thing they could definitely improve upon--though it seems like there's no incentive for them to make better--is the organization of the lines for the ferry especially at busier times. Salerno was ok since it's the first stop, however at the towns in the middle it's chaotic. No signs, you have to ask around to make sure you're in the right spot; they line up multiple ferry routes in the same line, then just call out the next destination, sometimes they're on time, sometimes late. Sooo many confused travelers. No mater which towns you're traversing between, the views of the coast were spectacular. The smaller seaside villages trailed along the mountains ridges, colorful abodes cascading down the foothills and spilling onto the shore. I couldn't have asked for a more scenic ride!

The ferries to/from the east (Salerno) and west (Sorrento/Positano) stop here. Tickets can be procured online or at little stands in a covered area at the start of the pier, and schedules are posted as well. Each operator has its own stand, with public and private charter or tour options available. While there are signs for different destinations listed at the end of the pier, in practice everyone is herded into the same line. Crew will announce destinations closer to the time of departure, note: - there's no shade, so take sun or rain protection into account on days with high heat or inclement weather. - keep an open ear to the destinations being called out, because the ferries don't always run on schedule, with minimal explanation on status and wait time. Expect some confusion. Other than these logistical considerations, this dock is only a few minutes walking from the pedestrian pathway that winds up the center of Amalfi, an easy location to kick off exploring the town.

She was very accommodating and, as part of this discussion, we relayed that we would be coming to Sorrento from Rome. As part of this discussion, because we had a large group of eight, we figured out that it would be cheaper and a lot easier, to book them as a car service from Rome to Sorrento. So, we ended up using them for both the car service and the tour. During this process, or arrival date, departure date, and total number of persons changed a few times. Luisa was non-plussed and accommodated each change easily. Great Service! We were assigned Luigi Iaccarino as our driver from Rome. He is a very entertaining man! As we were looking to go to Pompeii from Sorrento, he suggested that we stop on the way, as there would be a break in the weather and it would save us about three hours round trip from Sorrento. We chose to do this and it only cost us an extra 10 Euros a piece for two hours at Pompeii. It ended up working out perfectly, and Luigi waited for us and was right where he said he would meet us, right on time. During the ride from Rome to Sorrento, he also frequently advised us of possible rest stops, points of interest, and possible places to stop to shop for local products, (yum limoncello!) I think Luigi enjoyed our company, because he ended up being our driver the next day for our tour. Again, it was a great drive filled with perfect anecdotes and recommendations for stops. He went the extra mile, (should I say kilometer?,) and took us different ways that were less direct but had better views and stops. He was also very warm and open about his life, talking about his parents, where he grew up, his time in the US where he worked in the shipping industry, the death of his brother-in-law that made his wife ask him to leave that business, and his wife and children. He even drove us by his family's little market store near Sorrento and honked at his wife! Both Luisa and Luigi were a joy to work with and, if you do get Luigi as a driver, be sure to ask him why his nickname and his market is "Mezzanotte".

I made a huge mistake and thought that the 1020am express train was a part of the tap on/tap off system but I was supremely wrong. Luckily there was a 1038 train with a transfer to make it to our destination. The ticket office is a great help, even if the line may be long, because the person working was very helpful in explaining the tickets to me. There were also people outside of that train who could help guide you in the correct direction. There is a café that we ate at in the morning before heading to Rome. It was shockingly good for a place that heats things with a microwave and not very expensive. There is a nice seating area that you can rest and/or eat in with a platform board. It's a small station but there are 4 platforms so you still have to pay attention to which train you are getting on. Also, it may not seem like it, but there is an elevator if you need to use it.

Approaching from the front, there's a roundabout (Piazza Giovanni Battista de Curtis) in front for pickup and drop off. You go up a flight of stairs or escalator to the second floor where tickets can be purchased at machines or a couple manned ticket windows on the left. Then turnstiles to the tracks are straight toward the back of the station. The front facade and second floor balcony is semi-open to the elements aside from the open-eaved awning. There are 4 tracks, and access to three of them is via a tunnel below the first track, then stairs. I can't recall whether an elevator is available, you might need special assistance or a different entry for special accessibility needs. This is the terminal station for the Circumvesuviana local commuter train to/from Naples. It's no luxury ride though functional and affordable at €4.80 to Naples, a 1 hour 15 minute trip. Aside from its rectangular, blocky countenance with a partially open front, the station didn't leave too strong of an impression. The one ticket window staff member interaction I had was brief and neutral. Station cleanliness was mid to decent.

My family of four did the tickets to climb Vesuvius plus transportation from Naples morning trip. I…read morehave to say it went way better than I anticipated based on other reviews. The bus left Naples promptly at 9:10. The bus was clean and not full. I had read from reviews that you had to get on the Vesuvius Park wifi and receive your tickets by Whatsapp; that was not our experience. When we arrived at Vesuvius, the trip organizer had to download the tickets to his phone via the visitor center wifi. This took about 20 minutes (there must be a reason they can't do this in advance). He then gave us each paper vouchers, and he showed the park staff all of the tickets on his phone. I expected this delay so I was not bothered by it. Some others grumbled a bit. It seemed like an improvement from the older process. They gave us a full two hours based on when we were all set to enter. It was more than enough time (maybe too much time) to climb up, take pictures along the way, stop at souvenir shops and wait for the bathroom. The parking lot was crowded, but small, very easy to find the bus and be ready to return to Naples. Be warned, it was far colder and windier on Vesuvius than in Naples. Some unfortunate visitors were wearing shorts for the hike, but it was winter hat and gloves weather in April. Vesuvio Express was a great solution for our family - I had been disappointed to see tickets on the park's website to be sold out. Plus this saved me the trouble of coordinating public transportation.
