I did the Pompeii guided walking tour. My guide was Antonella, she was great. I love that we had…read moreearpieces, as it is quite hectic once inside Pompeii. I did not realize how huge it would be! But Antonella guided us through 2 sections and hit the highlights. I learned so much about the history. Afterwards I wander around for another few hours to soak it all in. Definitely eat before you start the tour & bring water - there is only 1 restaurant that we arrived at by the end of the tour.

    - Do Not Book w/ Askos -…read more We booked an English-speaking tour with Askos Tours for Pompeii, and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. The meeting instructions were unclear. Pompeii has multiple entrances, and despite communicating to the provided contact that we were only minutes behind, there was no clear guidance on where to go. While searching for our guide, we asked another Askos guide for help, but he offered none. When we eventually located the meeting area--which was far from where we were led to believe it would be--the Askos representative kept us waiting at the gate for 20-30 minutes. She then showed us a photo of our supposed guide and vaguely stated that they would be "before or after an archway." Pompeii contains multiple major archways, as well as 20,000 daily visitors. There was no realistic way to locate this person. We spent an hour searching before giving up. At this point, we had received no tour. I contacted Askos to request a refund, since we received nothing resembling the service we paid for. They refused. The entry tickets cost only €2 per person (€8 total for our group of four). We spent $340, meaning we could have purchased nearly 150 tickets ourselves for the same cost. Based on our experience--unclear directions, lack of assistance, and refusal to refund when the tour was never provided--I would not recommend booking with Askos.

Our room was amply sized with a very comfortable bed (queen size plus?) with a balcony big enough for two chairs and a table. Good sized bathroom with a large walking shower. Nice sized armoire with plenty of hangers. Slippers and fluffy robes provide along with cash minibar. All finishing are in an updated modern style with polished stone floor and walls, as well as blonde woods. Breakfast included. Very nice. Staff attentive and helpful. Very easy access to the Pompeii ruins. Many shops and restaurant on the street within easy walking distance of the hotel lobby. Good WiFi too. Highly recommend you check out the Hotel Forum if stay in Pompeii Couldn't post a separate review for the restaurant, so here goes. We ate in the outdoor seating area in the outdoor lobby. Food was ultra fresh and tasty. First night we shared the "Mediterranean platter. Caprese with prosciutto and melon. Very ample portions. We enjoyed the experience so much we ate dinner there our second night. We shared a ceasar salad and a margarita pizza. Very fresh and tasty, again with ample portions. Included breakfast in the downstairs inside seating area was of ample varieties of traditional breakfast fair and yummy pastries. Breakfast served from 7:30-10:30am allowing time for those sleeping in.

The staff is friendly, they offer a very nice breakfast included with the room. It is the best hotel to stay at while visit Pompeii. It is also close to one of the entrances to see the Pompeii ruins. Lots of restaurants near by and even a nice grocery store. In the evening they offer a happy hour with snacks as well. There is a beautiful dining area in the lemon garden, weather permitting. Lots of lemon trees on the property. The only negative thing is the internet and phone reception it is very poor.

We did…read morethe day trip to Capri - it was €65 per person for the full day and included a shuttle service that picked us up from our Airbnb and brought us home at night! We got on the boat at the port in Praiano, and made a quick stop in Positano to pick up some more passengers. Our tour guide, Valentina, was amazing and spoke English, Italian and Spanish, making everyone on board very comfortable. Antonio, the captain was great and made a point to spin the boat around at each stop so folks on all sides of the boat could get a prime view. Valentina pointed out sights on the peninsula along the way and we did a full circumference of Capri before the day was over. Unlimited beers, sodas and water is included and they even brought us some snacks along the way. We stopped at all grottos (incl the famous blue grotto) plus a swimming spot, and then got a 4-hour window of free time on Capri to explore. The ride back to Praiano included some Prosecco and pastries to finish the day. If you're looking for a fun and relaxed way to get to Capri and see some of the coast by boat, look no further than L'Uomo e il Mare by Plaghia Charter!!

They dropped us off at the Marina Grande in Capri and you are free to explore the island for 4 hours. They suggested buying a picnic lunch by the dock (cured meats, cheese, bread, etc), grab a convertible cab ride to the gandola, ride the gandola to the top of Ana Capri, take in the view of the Faraglioni (eat lunch), and then do some shopping in Capri. When we got back to the boat, they gave us a 360 tour of Capri by stopping at every grotto (Blue, Green, and White) and passing under the Faraglioni. They also gave us prosecco and traditional Italian cake. There were also a few swimming breaks when we got to swim in a few bays / hidden caves. The tour of the Blue Grotto is not included in the cost of the tour, but we jumped in a row boat for €25 for a quick stop inside the grotto (it's an obligatory tourist stop, but way overrated). Overall, it was a memorable and highly recommended tour.
