The Mr. and I have been wanting to see Pompeii for longer than I can remember. We both love…read morehistory so seeing it with a knowledgable guide was a must. We hit the jackpot with Vince. He was well versed in the history and architecture of Pompeii, and was able to bring its story to life for us. Can you see Pompeii without a guide? Sure. But why would you want to? Take my advice and book ASKOS Tours. Hopefully, Vince will be your guide. P.S. Due to my husband's knee issues we had to bail on the Herculaneum part of the tour which we will always regret.

We did not receive the train tickets to get to the tour. We were sent QR codes for the tour via email (that we thought would be for the train but were not). We had to buy our own tickets (122 euro) to get to Naples and then a local train to Pompeii. Then we had to walk a mile in the heat to join our tour in progress. This was all due to a miscommunication by the tour operator. They called the day before to confirm that we received the train tickets, but they did not speak English very well. We understood that there was a time change for the train, but they could not tell us what train or what our seats were (we asked the agent 4 times and did not get an answer). The "get your guide" email said that the tickets would be sent by email or "whats app", while the tour operator said they had sent the tickets through the "get your guide" messaging feature (they did NOT). This operator seems to have plenty of communication issues. It was all a big mess with no admission off fault by the tour operator. This all could have been avoided if the customer service representative could communicate in English. If you are going to cater to English speaking people, your staff should be fluent in the language. The 1/2 of the tour we attended was fine.

If history is your thing, this tour is a great way to learn about and experience Pompei. When we…read moresigned up for the bus tour, this location was not on the itinerary. However, after we arrived at the meeting location in the piazza, we discovered that the tour we purchased was not the same as where the bus was going. It was similar, but not the same. Since we were dressed for Sorrento and other areas along the Amalfi Coast, we were not expecting to do a lot of walking. Nevertheless, we had a great time. On the day of the two-hour tour, it was extremely hot outside, but we were well prepared with water, hats and sunglasses. The tour was interesting and surreal, as we learned more about the ancient Roman city. Prior to the tour, we were provided with earbuds and a speaker, which added to the experience in such a large crowd. It was a well organized tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and he had a great sense of humor. Prior to exiting the bus for the Pompei tour, those who wanted to pick up dinner immediately following the tour submitted orders to our main tour leader. The carryout meals were ready at the specified time. Overall, the process was a well-oiled machine.

Our room was amply sized with a very comfortable bed (queen size plus?) with a balcony big enough for two chairs and a table. Good sized bathroom with a large walking shower. Nice sized armoire with plenty of hangers. Slippers and fluffy robes provide along with cash minibar. All finishing are in an updated modern style with polished stone floor and walls, as well as blonde woods. Breakfast included. Very nice. Staff attentive and helpful. Very easy access to the Pompeii ruins. Many shops and restaurant on the street within easy walking distance of the hotel lobby. Good WiFi too. Highly recommend you check out the Hotel Forum if stay in Pompeii Couldn't post a separate review for the restaurant, so here goes. We ate in the outdoor seating area in the outdoor lobby. Food was ultra fresh and tasty. First night we shared the "Mediterranean platter. Caprese with prosciutto and melon. Very ample portions. We enjoyed the experience so much we ate dinner there our second night. We shared a ceasar salad and a margarita pizza. Very fresh and tasty, again with ample portions. Included breakfast in the downstairs inside seating area was of ample varieties of traditional breakfast fair and yummy pastries. Breakfast served from 7:30-10:30am allowing time for those sleeping in.

The staff is friendly, they offer a very nice breakfast included with the room. It is the best hotel to stay at while visit Pompeii. It is also close to one of the entrances to see the Pompeii ruins. Lots of restaurants near by and even a nice grocery store. In the evening they offer a happy hour with snacks as well. There is a beautiful dining area in the lemon garden, weather permitting. Lots of lemon trees on the property. The only negative thing is the internet and phone reception it is very poor.
