Our archeologist tour guide Lello educated us with everything we needed to know, so when the tour was done, my partner and I could navigate around the ruins with ease and soak in the must see spots we couldn't get to in the tour, with the knowledge Lello gifted us, that really helped with appreciating what we were looking at and where we we standing. Tony our guide did say he'd give us directions once we were kicked off the bus, but when I approached him saying, "You said you'd give us directions back to our hotel", he said "LADY!" in a frustrated tone and his directions were poor at best. Walking down the commercial streets that in 79 AD were bustling with life. Willie was our guide in Pompeii. He was very funny and kept on making jokes. He was entertaining. We did skip the lines to the She Wolf exhibit because the crowd was too big. We didn't lose anyone in our group of 25. Yay! We only had 90 minutes to explore Pompei with a guide. I think we really needed at least twice that length of time but you know how it goes. Got places to go and things to do! There's a small gift shop at the entrance/exit as well as a cafe for drinks. Clean restrooms are available at entrance and another one near an amphitheatre inside.

Great site to visit (been to many other ruins that were underwhelming)…read more Our tour guide was pretty good. He was funny but a bit hard to understand sometimes. This admission was part of a combo tour including a trip up the volcano plus lunch. The condition was rather impressive. Some buildings were in great shape. As your outside it is hard to imagine you would have been 20 some feet under ground (ash) a hundred years or more ago before they excavated. Plus they have unearthed only about 30% of the city. Many amazing relics & sad displays of humanity to see here. Worth the time to visit this ancient site.

Walking through Pompeii is kind of surreal…read more I loved just wandering with no real plan. You can walk right into homes and see the mosaics and little courtyards. Even random things like graffiti on the walls or old kitchen setups are still there. The amphitheater is a definite highlight. The plaster casts are... a lot. Definitely a moment where everything hits a bit harder. It's pretty heavy, but also important to see. Overall, Pompeii actually pulls you in. You end up thinking about the people more than the ruins. It is worth taking your time with and coming out of your way for.

However, after we arrived at the meeting location in the piazza, we discovered that the tour we purchased was not the same as where the bus was going. It was similar, but not the same. Since we were dressed for Sorrento and other areas along the Amalfi Coast, we were not expecting to do a lot of walking. Nevertheless, we had a great time. On the day of the two-hour tour, it was extremely hot outside, but we were well prepared with water, hats and sunglasses. The tour was interesting and surreal, as we learned more about the ancient Roman city. Prior to the tour, we were provided with earbuds and a speaker, which added to the experience in such a large crowd. It was a well organized tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and he had a great sense of humor. Prior to exiting the bus for the Pompei tour, those who wanted to pick up dinner immediately following the tour submitted orders to our main tour leader. The carryout meals were ready at the specified time. Overall, the process was a well-oiled machine.

He was easy to communicate with via email during the planning process: He always responded promptly and was very thorough. We just loved Lorenzo. He made the trip so relaxing and stress-free. He took care of us during our three days in Sorrento, and, as I said, his recommendations were always spot on. he is a very kind-hearted man who is genuinely eager to make everyone's vacation a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
