Our day with Carmine visiting the Amalfi coast was the highlight of our 9 day cruise! We appreciated how he shared his knowledge and love of this area. My wife and I purchased a private tour to go to as many of the Amalfi villages as possible for 300 Euro, plus a private guide in Pompeii for another 120 Euro. The whole tour time range was from about 8am to 4:30pm between pickup in front of our ship and drop off in Naples. If we had another couple in our party, maybe the value would have felt more appropriate, but our experience is largely based on the many other tours that we did in similar fashion during our trip including to Mykonos, Rhodes, Athens, Malta, and Santorini. Some of those tours had separate tour guides from drivers; some were combined into a single person. Our driver was a nice, young guy named Salvatore. He drove a clean Mercedes E220 CDI with excellence throughout the trip. The winding curves of the coast, and the periodic need to face off with other drivers at points where the road was too narrow to accommodate two cars next to each other were no problem for him. In general, it was a nice scenic ride, but there was very little "guidance" from him. Rather, it was mostly just a taxi ride with us sitting in the back looking out while listening to some nice Italian music in the background (that I requested). All of our other tours were full of lots of information about each stop, the general area, highlights of the destinations, etc. Unfortunately, Salvatore provided little additional information to supplement what we were seeing. Our tour guide in Pompeii was excellent, and for 2 hours we got lots of in depth knowledge about the site. It would have been really nice to visit Herculaneum as well (since our extended family talked it up a lot after their tour there), and the cost was a bit high for 2 hours (again based on other tours that we experienced), but was still informative and fascinating. Don't get me wrong, everyone was very professional, and we had a nice lunch at La Tagliata with all elements of the tour well managed and customized to our requests to ensure we could max everything out that we wanted while ensuring that we got back to our departure point on time. Our chief complaints were mainly around the cost being high for some elements of the tour, and the lack of additional knowledge about what we were experiencing while riding through the beautiful coast. read more

The worst tour ever. After spending all day in a bus in traffic we were given an hour in Positano. That was barely enough time to walk down to the restaurant, eat lunch and come back. We were 5 minutes late and our tour guide , barabara, left us behind. We were 4 hours from our hotel. When we finally reached her on the phone she lied and said we had been 15 minutes late and she had searched for us. We missed Pompeii. Don't work with this organization. read more

A friend recommended See Amalfi Coast and I am so glad they did. I seldom write reviews, only for experiences that are amazing and really bad. From the moment I contacted Nancy via email, she was super attentive and answered all of my questions in a very timely manner. I did a ton of research prior to booking with them, and they had the best prices. I initially wanted to be picked up from our hotel in Rome and transferred to Naples, however Nancy recommended we would save about 2 hours if we took the speed train from Rome to Naples and have their driver pick us up there. I was a little worried about taking the train in a foreign country, however she answered all of my questions and it was a breeze and super easy. The high speed train was actually a treat, very easy to catch, they served snacks and drinks and we were in Naples in under an hour. Very easy process. When we departed the train our guide, Carmine, had a sign with our names on it. We felt like VIP's, as he led us to his beautiful Mercedes sedan. He showed us around Naples and explained a little about the city as we departed for the Naples and Amalfi Coast. Carmine has the best energy as a tour guide. He really gets you excited and he is passionate in what he is showing you. This was our 18th day of 19 in Europe, so we had our fair share of tour guides on this vacation and Carmine was the best. We started talking about olive oil and he diverted from our tour to show us a working olive oil farm and factory. It was amazing. We got to chat with the owners and sample the olive oil they produce and they were nice enough to ship some home to us. Next was the amazing Amalfi Coast, words cannot describe the beauty of this coast line. Carmine then setup an amazing farm to table lunch overlooking the Amalfi Coast, breathtaking. We then toured Pompeii with a private guide which was amazing. I know we were late to our appointment with our Pompeii guide, because of all the amazing things Carmine showed us (the guide would call, I understand a little Italian) however he handled it like a true professional and never let us feel rushed or ever made us feel like we were tied to a schedule. Unfortunately after Pompeii it was time for us to catch our train back and say "see you soon" to Carmine, because we will definitely be back to tour with him. This company is absolutely amazing. They are dependable, accommodating, and you become great friends with your driver. Our driver was Umberto and he was fabulous, we had the best time. He showed us Naples, Pompei, Sorrento and Positano. He knew all the places to take fabulous pictures, was very patient, always had the car cool since it was a very hot day. We had the best tour ever. Gio was our driver and he was excellent. We had an eight hour tour around the Amalfi coast. We had many beautiful stops including Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento During our tour Gio Took us to a wonderful restaurant called Sam's Z which overlooked Sorrento. It was breathtaking. Not only was the food good the view was magnificent and the owner was so friendly. He took us to his garden and gave us a tour of all his fresh vegetables we had so much fun there. Highly recommend!!!! We recently took a cruise to Italy, and we used SAC for each port of call. We only had one day to take each tour, but thanks to the great staff, we hit all the highlights and felt like we were well taken care of. My parents were restricted with their activities, and weren't feeling well, but each guide/driver prioritized their needs and were attentive and compassionate. Positano...Sorento...WOW Views everywhere! Great private tour with Carmine. Carmine was an excellent tour guide - He picked us up on time, the car was clean and he proposed the best route for the day not to stay in traffic. From Napoli cruise terminal, we went to Sorento first - scenic drive with gorgeous views on a wonderful October day. Shopped for some leather and other souvenirs. It is a place to come back and spend more time there. Then, we went to Positano up the hill for breathtaking views and great lunch at Il Ritrovo, overlooking Positano. Amazing, secluded place up there. My friend from Chicago is spending 6 weeks twice per year there. Carmine was very pleasant and entertaining all day, and his English was very good. He was also very patient with our longer than expected lunch, and made arrangements with the guide in Pompeii to meet us there at exactly the time of our arrival. The Pompeii guide felt pricey, 120 Euros for 2 hours for our group, but she used very efficiently every minute of the time there. I would recommend this tour, which is best to be in the out of season months, to avoid the traffic on the just 2-lane roads. read more

If there is any way to give Carmine's tours more than 5 stars, I would. Carmine Foggia who was born in the Napoli area and has generations of history here, handles the tour, more like he was taking his visiting relatives from abroad to show his homeland, with excitement, heart, a lot of details that only come from having lived in the area and great Italian pride. From the moment to get into his comfortable car you know you are in for a day of fun, adventure, excitement and knowledge. Carmine picked us up at our hotel in Naples for a tour of the entire Amalfi coast. Instead of taking the normal short route through the tunnel, he took us over the mountains with dramatic views of the north as we ascended and totally breathtaking view of the south side, Amalfi and the sea as we descended. Along the way, Carmine described the detailed history of each sight, Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii, the limestone hillsides, the people who lived in these mountains, their economy and way of life. You could tell that his knowledge was not from tourist books but from generations of passed on knowledge of the area. Carmine has a great story telling style, that keeps you engrossed and yearn for more information from him. As we went along the day, we noticed that Carmine had friends everywhere, so he could take us into 5-star hotels to see great ocean & coastal views. At each stop, Amalfi, Revello, Positano, Sorrento, he would provide directions on what to see in the area and then give us some time on our own to explore. Finally, we drove us up the mountain to an authentic farm to table restaurant perched on the hillside with fantastic views. The grow all their food right there, so after dining, you can take a tour of their small farm. Enough said, we will leave the rest for you to experience the tour yourself with Carmine. read more

We used See Amalfi Coast for three private tours for a group of four adults. Naples- Tour Guide: Carmine We originally met Carmine in Naples. He was prompt, his vehicle was clean, and he was friendly. While the company had suggestions of places for us to visit, we were also open to suggestions and the tour was customizable which we really liked. Carmine took us to Sorrento and gave us time to walk through the streets and then took us to the Amalfi coast. He kept telling us to save our appetite. We also stopped by an olive grove or farm where we tasted samples of different types of oils and had some limoncello. Next, Carmine took us to a farm to table restaurant which overlooked the coastline and it was beautiful. EVERYTHING was fresh and prepared the same day. I was a bit nervous because there is no menu so I didn't know what to expect and I'm a picky eater. The meal started with veggie appetizers (i.e. sautéed spinach, broccoli, chickpeas, eggplant) and then we had pasta (i.e. ravioli, gnocchi, etc) and then dessert. The meal was served family style, with wine and bread. Everything was delicious and fresh. It was totally worth it and it was also affordable. We didn't even know there was a farm nearby because it didn't smell and it was so clean. We were able to stop along the way and take pictures of the beautiful scenery. We also visited Pompeii, which seems to be an all day event but we were so exhausted we only stayed about an hour and a half. We really enjoyed our driver Carmine who was timely, polite, funny, and made excellent suggestions. We trusted him to do a great job and he did just that! Rome- Tour Guide: Manuel (Manny) AWESOME. Our guide Manny was punctual, polite, and kind. His vehicle was clean and up to date. Manny also made suggestions for us to save on time which we really appreciated. There was traffic heading into Rome due to construction but Manny was able to navigate around it and took us to the Roman Colosseum. There were so many people and the crowds were overwhelming so we took pictures for a few minutes and continued on our way. Manny pointed out different historical buildings and facts along the way and also took us to tour the Roman Catacombs. We visited Vatican city and enjoyed a nice, simple pizza lunch at a place Manny recommended. It wasn't a tourist trap and it was so good. We also had time to walk in the square and get gelato that he was kind enough to let us finish in his van. I really wanted to see the Trevi Fountain and although it seemed we were pressed for time, Manny took us and I'm so thankful he did. Manny was a good conversationalist and answered any question we had. As it was a long day, we were really exhausted because of all of the walking and activities so we all fell asleep on the ride back to the cruise port. We arrived safely at the port thanks to Manny. One of our favorite tours! Livorno (Pisa/Florence)- Tour Guide: Giovanni (Gio) Our final tour with the company. Again, they did not disappoint. We were so pleased with Gio as well! He was on time, polite, and kind as were the other two guides. His vehicle was clean and well kept and really up to date. From the moment we got into the van, Gio began telling us the history of Livorno and the port and this continued throughout the day. We went to the leaning tower of Pisa and then my sister asked Gio if we could go to a vineyard once we arrived in Tuscany. Honestly, I don't even remember what we had scheduled to do on this tour but Gio was able to accommodate her request and took us to the vineyard which we really liked! We were able to purchase wine and continued on our way. I really loved that the guides were able to customize the tour to what we wanted to see, which is why we paid for a private tour. It was worth it. We went to a beautiful spot where we overlooked the city and took pictures. Gio was also able to stop along the way where we took pictures with the Tuscan hills and vineyards in the backyard... so awesome!!!! We had lunch and returned to our cruise ship. This tour was really more sightseeing which we enjoyed because we were tired from the other two days. The added benefit was that although we were mostly in the van, Gio gave so much history and information which provided context to the areas we drove through. Overall, See Amalfi Coast was probably the best decision we made when booking private tours. They took us to every place we wanted to see and we didn't feel rushed or pressed for time. Though the guides don't really go into the places with you (i.e. the Vatican or Pompeii), the company was willing to set you up with tour guides at those attractions. The drivers were safe and knowledgeable and the vehicles were clean and air-conditioned. The company was reasonable with pricing as well. We loved our visit to Italy and the tours were some of the highlights of our trip. If we ever return to Italy, we will definitely be using them again and I suggest you should to. read more

We just got back from a wonderful vacation, spending the majority of our time in Italy. The highlight of our trip was our tour with Carmine from See Amalfi Coast Tours. We have been on a lot of tours in our lifetime but this tour far exceeds anything we have experienced. Carmine was recommended to us by a friend who took a tour with him a few years ago. She told me we had to do a tour with Carmine if we are in Naples. Best recommendation ever! Carmine was very funny and we were laughing the entire time of the tour.
