Nothing fancy, but good for the price. The beer selection was nice and the service was great.

This is the spot for baked goods in this area. It has variety and a lovely view of the river. I…read morehad a unique pear pie which has a similar filling to an almond croissant. Croissants were decent. Coffee amazing. So much so, I bought a bag to go. I only been here for lunch and afternoon coffee break, but they also have sandwiches and pizzas. What won me over, as with most of Quebec, is the civilized manner of running business. Never too busy to answer a question and when I forgot my coffee grounds, it was set aside and waiting for me the following morning.

We stopped by Pains d'Exclamation to pick out some bakery items for our long drive home. Having…read morestuffed myself with croissant from all the top-rated bakery in downtown Quebec-city a week earlier, I really wasn't expecting anything comparable from a tiny local bakery in La Malbaie. Well let's just say I was pleasantly surprised... My eyes popped open when I took my first bite into their croissant. It was so incredibly flaky throughout and the outer crust near the edges were delightfully crispy. I would say in terms of flakiness/crispiness, it's as good if not better than the croissants at Le Croquembouche and Paillard in QC. It's not quite as airy as the other two places I mentioned, but it's still in the top-3 of my favorite croissant places in QC (or anywhere for that matter). We also had the strawberry brioche, which was also very good. It wasn't too sweet which I liked, but by the time we ate it, the fruit had leaked into the bread making it a little soggy. Still delicious and eating that fresh would have been amazing. The two bakery items we tried were fantastic, however, I felt the service could have been better. We got a little attitude when we were ordering because we had a difficult time deciding what to get and felt we were rushed. Could have been the language barrier, but I think she could have been more patient. Regardless, putting up with a little attitude from auntie is a small price to pay for tasting their delightful baked goods. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

So, this restaurant at the nice hotel which I randomly encountered while charging my car is a godsend. The restaurant is nicely decorated with both outdoor and indoor dining area that look absolutely beautiful. A clean washroom at the hotel and many beautiful original artworks. The food uses local fresh ingredients and were designed to bring out the freshness and original taste of the local produce. The pizza was very good with the freshness and taste and the crisp of the rip and the texture of the pizza center. Which urged us to order another one, made it a dinner portion while the first order was the lunch. The spaghetti was a bit disappointing due to the lack of lack of flavor and ordinary pasta. Nonetheless, I want to come back to have more pizza. The service could be more attentive but the staffs are polite and helpful when you got their attention.

My favorite meal was the beef tartar which I had the second night - I would highly recommend that. I also liked the beef I had the first night which was very français in style. High quality beef (cheek) and an excellent preparation and complement of vegetables. My wife and kids enjoyed their meals as well. Kids can get a cheese pizza and a free desert but after trying the cheese and the three cheese included on the main menu I would definitely recommend going with the latter, despite the lack of a free desert. Speaking of desert, they are worth it if you have an appetite after dinner. The restaurant features local fromagerie and micro-brasseries, including Microbrasserie Charlevoix (which is excellent - try the ESB or the Flacatoune). While there are some interesting restaurants in downtown Baie Saint Paul this one is worth a try, especially if you have kids or are staying at Le Germain.

A must! Amazing bistro with the best veggie burger I ever had ( some kind of fried chickpea patty…read more). Adapted well to my vegan needs. Hard to find a vegan and gluten free combo, but I can personally cheat once in a while on gluten. Very good crispy french fries, great salad. My mom had the naan tuna salad sandwich. She liked it. We were on a very busy day and one staff member was lacking so service was long but employees kept smiling and were energetic. Cute sitting area outdoor in front. I know there is a big patio behind but did not go. NOTE: bathrooms only available on upper floor. Cute modern/rustic decor. Voilà!

Seriously is was lovely outside and there are heaters if you need them. The ambiance inside was cozy local with seats at the bar or tables. The musical programming was great, all English old hits and people were grooving. The service was great, again they encouraged and were pleased with our French and denying the English menu. We drank "pear drops" a martini infused with a splash of the house pear ginger cordial. I made it up and they liked it I think! We split a salmon tartare with salad for $32 which was delicious and more than enough for two. This might become our headquarters for the trip. Recommended.
