This was my second tough mudder and I did the 10k. This tough mudder is better than the previous one I went too with the obstacles being more thought out. Easy checkin, enjoyable people, great music, and overall fun. Hydration stations and snack stations everywhere through the course as long as porta potties everywhere. Crawling through mud under barbed wire, climbing over walls, swinging from monkey bars, jumping into ice water, and running through electric shocks. Who's in? This was the third Tough Mudder that I've participated in, and I'm not exactly sure why, but I couldn't convince any of my friends to sign up with me this time around. So I hauled it over to Lake Elsinore to do the SoCal TM on my own. Fortunately, the camaraderie on the course was as strong as ever, so there was always a helping hand when I needed one. This event was held near the lake behind the Lake Elsinore Diamond. No elevation, but plenty of Southern California heat (even in November) to make up for it. When I did TM in NorCal a month ago, check-in was slow and lines were long. At SoCal, check-in went a lot faster, and the check-in and bag drop lines weren't too bad. Though my earlier start time might've also helped. TM now consists of three distances that overlap and share some obstacles: 5k, Half and Full. Only the Full has the crazier obstacles like ice and electricity. The Full course here was 21 obstacles over 9-miles. I felt like the spacing between obstacles was good, and the lines at each one weren't too long. There was an ample amount of water stations, half with food. Plenty of fuel to get you through. Plus the reward of a headband, tech tee and a Guinness beer at the end. Oh, and the showers have warm water now. Aww yeah. The obstacles weren't easy per se but were pretty doable. Any training you do will help, but you don't need to be a beast to get through the course. Unless you're doing the competitive wave, in which case we're talking about a different level of athlete. TM is a great team building event. If you have any interest in obstacle course racing, I recommend doing a TM at least once. Any joiners for 2019? read more

Oh man, this was CHALLENGING!!! I'm not sure how I got talked into doing a 15k with a bunch of avid runners, but somehow I did. I'm still not sure I survived it, but I had a lot of fun trying! If you're looking for a mental and physical challenge, this is the course for you! I loved that they had a motivational speaker and the beginning and a finisher beer for those who make it through the course. The obstacles were innovative and interesting with plenty of variety. My only complaint is that they monkey bar ones are too wide people with a shorter wing span. I couldn't even attempt those, unfortunately. All else was amazing! read more

This was my 3rd Tough Mudder - Sunday, 11/3/2019, the Classic course at 10 miles with 25 obstacles. Before you say no, it's a great bonding experience. My team participated in wave #1 which started at 9AM, FYI, the later in the day that you go, the longer the lines for the obstacles. My team had very few lines, and they were very short. If you do this solo, the camaraderie on the course is ever present, so there is always a helping hand when needed. This event was held near the lake behind the Lake Elsinore Diamond. No elevation, but plenty of Southern California heat (even in November) to make up for it. My only gripe is that they seem to charge for everything, entry, parking, equipment storage, etc. This is one of my favorite extreme races, I'm sure I'll be back after I've forgotten about the shock wires. read more

Get out there and play! 2016 Tough Mudder has gone better,harder and more fun. I skipped any 2015 OCR(Obstacle Course Racing) and I thought I would never do any of these again. But I have concluded that once a Mudder will stay a Mudder forever. So the race that I did was just yesterday 10/8/16 and it is a 2-day fun. We always want to go early morning and finish early,you know,dealing with the fresher porta-potties and muds are firmer,etc. Check in was fast,show them the email,ID and get your bibs and other tags. Remember that TM isn't a competition so there is no time chip,an exact opposite of Spartan Race. Check in your bags for $5 and warm up in the designated area with a big group of Mudders. Relax,smile and be supportive. These are key points. As we say all the time,no one will judge you because this is a race of team work. It is my 3rd time,a legionnaire and I am obligated to help others. Now let's go to my favorite obstacles. The new THE BLOCK NESS MONSTER. Wow! I do love this! This can be tricky if you are lost because you can never do this alone,it takes few to many racers to push so others can roll and move on. Clap clap to the creators of this. CAGE CRAWL. This is definitely a mental challenge. It was the feeling of suffocation and drowning and if you don't get your act together,you will beg the staff to open the cage,lol. So calm down and take your time. PYRAMID SCHEME. Team work is important because no one can fly and reach the top alone. Men always form themselves into a human ladder and women will make their way up. Haha! EVEREST 2.0. Woot!!! Sprint and reach the top. Someone had to catch you for sure. Make that eye contact first and get the reassurance nod. FREQUENT FLYER'S CLUB. I was mentally defeated at first but I did it anyways. I flew and I did not die. Many more! The legionnaire's exclusive obstacles were exciting! And for the first timers,you got to do the ELECTRO SHOCK THERAPY. The other obstacles were ARCTIC ENEMA,BACKSTABBER,MUD MILE 2.0,FUNKEY MONKEY and some are old ones and easy. It's a 10-mile course on a difficult sandy ground. Yep! No hills,less cramping and my mustards were not useful. It's a hot day but I thanked them for having so many water stations,potties and electrolytes replacements including protein bars and bananas. The price per person was pricey I think it was approximately $130 bucks per person. We got a corporate discount so $6 dollar discounts for food. Every one gets a t-shirt, headband and some other stuff they give out in the event. The obstacles were hand made and it was approximately 10 miles ish for us to complete the full Tough Mudder experience. It was my first time experiencing a lot of stuff at once. You do not have to run the whole time, you can walk throughout the journey with your loved ones, friends, or whomever. The good thing about this place is that everyone helps you through the obstacles as long as they're nice, some people do not like to help you as well. I got injured from some of the basic obstacles because of friction. I recommend wearing long beach, long sleeves, as well as knee pads and a decent pair of shoes that you wouldn't mind getting dirty. You also have the opportunity to donate the dirty pair of shoes after the race. You do get to drink beer and eat some average food, they weren't that great to be honest. I enjoyed the spirit that everyone was in, but I'm not sure if I would do it again. They do give out gel's in the middle of the race, I recommend at least taking one or two more for yourself so that if you get tired in the end you can boost your energy by taking another energy gel. read more

This company literally makes everything difficult on you if there is a slight hiccup in the road. I am going to be pregnant at the time of our event (didn't know that would be the case when we purchased tickets 6 months in advance), and was informed that I couldn't get a refund, but I COULD transfer my ticket to a different event. Ok cool, I'll just transfer to when I'm not pregnant a year from now. Oh but there's a $30 transfer fee PER participant. I have 10 people in my group. I've already paid you SIX HUNDRED BUCKS to run this event and now you want me to pay you ANOTHER $300 to transfer due to a medical reason? So I am paying ALMOST A GRAND to run this event? Then I get an email this morning that they are canceling the mini mudder that my son was registered for, and they will issue a refund that I will receive in 2-4 weeks. TWO TO 4 WEEKS?! You're gonna take a MONTH to REFUND my money, after telling me you don't do refunds? Apparently only when they are in YOUR hands you do them. This organization is terrible and needs to get their ish together. I'll never recommend them to anyone. read more

I have run 4 Tough Mudders including my last run at Lake Elsinore. To start, I love doing this race, I love the race and the people. The events are awesome and it's clear that the Tough Mudder organization puts a lot of thought and energy into their events and obstacles. This year was different though. The event was changed from the original Veil Lake location. I went to the Veil Lake Tough Mudder last year and it was awesome. But this year at Lake Elsinore was different and not for the better. For one, the original host at the start of the race, Sean Corvelle, was not there. His speech is one of the things I look forward to. I'm not sure if he's no longer with the organization, or just wasn't there for this event. Also we had to wait about 30 minutes to even start the race. Once I started the race I noticed how hard it was to pass other runners in front of me. All of paths were extremely narrow this time. It looked to me that they didn't have time to really plan out all of the routes this time. The lines to the obstacles were atrocious. The King of the Swingers is one of my favorite obstacles but again we had to wait more than 30 minutes to start due to the fact that only 4 swings were working, where normally there are 6 to 8. People starting cramping up in line because they had to wait in line so long. When running this event, you have to expect to get wet and muddy. But the amount of mud this time was way too much. The last obstacle, Electro Shock Therapy, is an event that you just need to sprint through. But this was made impossible due to the 2 feet of mud at the bottom. Because of this most people, including myself, passed on this, which is unfortunate. Those who tried, found themselves stuck knee deep in the mud - one person who did try was constantly getting shocked and took 15 minutes to get through. This may be my last TM because of this experience, I may try Spartan next time, or it might just be that I'm done 4 already and my body just needs to recover. I love this event, I'm just disappointed that this event was not organized that well this time. read more
