I'm not sure it's exactly like riding a bike--but Karen made me feel completely at ease from the start. Kiwi, my horse, was incredibly patient and gentle with me. I swear she knew I needed a little extra TLC! It made the whole experience so enjoyable and stress-free. I even got to do a tiny bit of trotting, which was such a fun bonus. If you start for Killen road then the first portion is very shady with lots of oak trees. We enjoyed this portion immensely but once the valley opened up and the chaparral changed we turned around. Matt and I chose A Trail To Remember to take us out for a ride and it was unlike any other "trail ride" I've ever been on! When we showed up Kelli served up mimosas and we got to relax under a red umbrella in really comfy lounge chairs. When we went on our ride it was only Matt, myself and our trail guide Scott. Instead of being with a large group riding in a straight line, Scott let us go at our own pace and lead, it was like we were riding with a friend, not a trail guide. Scott was also our own personal photographer on the trail capturing our little moments along the way. When we got back to the horse trailer Kelli had a personalized birthday cake waiting for me and then they proceeded to sing me happy birthday. We ended our time with feeding the horses some carrots and eating cake! What a great birthday all thanks to Kelli Cathey-Andersonkel and her awesome team! I'll definitely use them again! We started looking for a horse and we heard from her that she had a horse that fit our description so we went and looked at the horse and he was literally everything we were told he was and more! This past weekend's horseback riding trip was such a smooth and peaceful experience from start to…read morefinish. The staff was pleasant, welcoming, and made everything easy. Lauren, our trail leader, was amazing--very knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly experienced with both the riders and the horses. My horse was INDIGO. But all the horses were calm and not temperamental at all, which made the ride even more enjoyable and relaxing. I chose the early morning ride, and it was absolutely perfect. I had removed my flannel beforehand and wore only a sleeveless tee, which worked out great as the sun started to come up. Parking was very convenient, and I especially loved that this location is only about 20 minutes from my home in Canyon Springs. The trails through the Santa Ana Riverbed were lovely--peaceful, scenic, and exactly what I was hoping for. I will definitely be doing this again. It was such a better experience and value than driving all the way into the Los Angeles area for a ride. This gave me exactly what I wanted: a serene, beautiful morning on horseback in nature. The trail was beautiful: shady sections, little creeks to cross, gentle up-and-down hills, and tons of lush green scenery all around. We passed several bikers and hikers, and every single one was super respectful of the horses and politely gave us the right of way. The horses themselves were awesome. calm and steady, with just the right amount of playful sass to keep it interesting. We left smiling and already talking about coming back.
