Any loophole, category, segmentation, activity that can make you more attractive to the Ivy+ admissions folks, he will find. However if you are not Ivy+ bound, and/or have a student who is looking for well-rounded help in the overall college selection/admissions/financial aid process, I doubt this is where you should be looking. Both are student athletes, which requires a very flexible schedule to deal with all of the travel to events and tournaments. Their teachers genuinely cared about them. Chrysalis does a great job of placing the students with teachers that can allow them to see their potential. My kids speak highly about all of their teachers. My oldest is very academic and the flexible pace of Chrysalis provided her with a vehicle to move at an accelerated pace through the subject matter that interested her the most. She felt very prepared for college and is working on a master's degree currently. My son's focus is soccer, not academics, but he's warmed up to school, because of the Chrysalis model, and feels as confident as ever to enter college and succeed. Not to trash the public school education, I was a product of it and enjoyed it, but I don't believe they would have been able to cope with high school in the same way due to their set of circumstances.

The school knowingly accepts students with special needs but lacks the training or experience to deal with situations that arise as a result of those disabilities. My son has anxiety and high-functioning autism. In the first 2 weeks of school, he experienced a consistently disorganized educational experience. Class schedules changed regularly, without much notice. His teachers would change, also without much notice. My son's calendar would often be missing the invites for the remote class. I would have to call the school multiple times a day to get the meeting links. Teachers would be late to class (which are a short 30 minutes). The school regularly assured us of their experience with special needs children, yet continued to engage in highly triggering behaviors. When my son's disability manifested by missing some classes and cursing (once) in an email to a teacher, they used it as an opportunity to kick him out of the school. The real issue was that they were dealing with a staffing shortage and my son's disability presented an opportunity for them to solve for a business challenge. They tried to spin my son's behavior as a flagrant violation. A school that is intolerant of the messiness of children should re-examine whether they should be in the business of education. A school that lacks empathy for children with disabilities, yet knowingly accepts them and is surprised when the disability manifests is really just an unethical, for-profit business. Chrysalis does a good job of marketing, but be very careful about sending your children here. The narrative of personalized education and helping children that are struggling is simply not true. The narrative is appealing for parents who are looking for a school they can partner with, but don't be misled by the marketing.

First of all, I wanted a preschool that did not feel like an impersonal, 'institutional' daycare and instead felt like a 'home away from home' for my 3-year-old. I also wanted a school that understood that parents need LOTS of flexibility in their schedule. And I was seeking a school whose director was warm, communicative, hands-on, and professional. Lastly, I wanted seasoned early-childhood teachers who were not just focused on imparting kindergarten readiness skills but also had the personal warmth that would encourage a love of learning in my child. I think The Shyne School meets all my criteria wonderfully. The school is made up of a group of buildings that look like cheery yellow houses and a red barn, and there is a spacious 'magic forest' in the back that provides a wonderful, natural place for the children to play in. They have remodeled very recently and everything looks new, clean, bright, and spacious. They have a wonderful service which is that the children who stay through lunch get freshly prepared hot lunches everyday made by the lovely and gentle Ms. Prudence in the school's kitchen. The 3-year-olds are always making fun things like fresh-churned butter or home-baked apple pie with Ms. Katy and Ms. Darci. They are very disciplined about handwashing and Katrina, the school director, runs the whole school like a well-oiled machine. She is warm, friendly, always available, highly organized and totally on top of health and child safety issues. Health alerts go out quickly, with full information for concerned parents and even better, the parents are very conscientious about monitoring their children's health and informing the school of anything that would be of concern to others. Last but not least, I am thrilled that ALL the teachers in this school are great. My child has only been exposed to warm, kind, and attentive teachers and assistants - regardless of which schedule he is on. There is a great camaraderie among the school's personnel and they have a wonderful rapport with the parents. Unlike other places I checked out, they never minded my staying longer at drop-offs to help my child get adjusted. This took several months and I was never made to feel uncomfortable about it! As a result, he is completely adjusted and happy in his new environment and comes home to tell us everyday about his new learnings and his friends at school.

During the 10 months, I didn't see she had any improvement. My daughter told me she didn't talk with teachers and other kids often. She just played by herself, and the teachers never came to guide her. My daughter said most of the time, teachers were just standing there and watching them play except the circle time. My daughter went to another Montessori school which was way better. Now, she is outgoing. My feeling was that I wasted 10 months to send my daughter to The Children's School and Montessori.

Huntington has a great system where your child takes a practice ACT and SAT with them, and based on the results, they make a study plan for whichever test plays to your child's strengths. I loved the flexibility in their scheduling and the ease of the process. My daughter met with her tutor once or twice a week, and they went over the homework he'd given her. Your child will have homework and will need to do it to improve. Will you be out of town here and there over the summer? No problem. They build the schedule around your availability. Here's my favorite part about Huntington. They let you take lots of practice tests that are actual ACT tests from prior years. (Lots and lots of tests!)
