Do you faint when you're having blood drawn? Friends make fun of you for being a big wuss when the needle appears? Break out into cold sweats and get spotty vision at the mere thought of having a blood test?
You'll want Dr. Touboul as a general practitioner, if only just for his nursing staff.
However, if you want to combine a pleasant, CONSCIOUS, experience having blood drawn with a doctor who actually sits and listens, then you'll really want to see Dr. Touboul.
The first time I came in to see him, that initial consultation, I felt like I got a little rushed through. Dr. Touboul is down-to-business. I remember thinking, "he seems thorough, but there isn't really a connection here."
It must have been an off day.
Within a year of me seeing him as my regular doctor, I separated from my wife. I had a physical within a month or two of our separation, and I remember sitting in the examining room, and he sat down with me, and asked me how I was doing. It wasn't an off-the-cuff, "hello-how-are-you-that's-great-bend-over-and-cough" type of inquiry. He took his time to find out how things were with me. I started to tell him I was ok, and suddenly found myself in tears, spilling how hard the last few months had been, how hurt and distressed I was, and what it took to finally initiate the separation. He listened, we talked, and I remember leaving feeling a hell of a lot better about life.
Since then, I've managed to get food poisoning and dehydrate myself to the point of fainting, knocked my back out bad enough to essentially disable myself, and do some other stuff that sent me in to the doctor's office. Each time, he's taken time to make sure I'm doing ok, and had me hang out in the waiting room when I was feeling faint or too unhealthy to head back out to my car. Once, they even wheeled me down to the emergency room and stayed with me a bit until I was good to go.
I've grown to really trust and like my doctor; I don't hesitate to make appointments. Great care, from a great doctor and staff. read more
