I came to Dr. Brooling complaining about several problems with my GI system, one being a very strange problem with the left side. I was given a readout of a normal MRI....except it wasn't. My left side was starting to shift upward but no one gave me the proper readout or the imaging for the MRI until it was too late. Fast forward to today, my stomach is herniated into my left chest, my intestines are pushed into my spine, my body is gurgling in my left back up to my SHOULDER. This is not a typical MRI nor is it in line with my prior imaging. Yet I was left in the dark. Note the left side is the right on the image. Dr. Elizabeth Broussard performed a routine screening colonoscopy on me in 2025. Unfortunately, the result was incomplete due to an unsuccessful bowel prep with some retained colonic stool. A recommendation was made for a repeat screening colonoscopy in 1 year with a more intensive bowel prep. At the time, Dr. Broussard could not or would not talk to me post-procedure, but instead directed one of her minions, the recovery room nurse, to advise me of the test findings, post-procedure instructions, and recommended followup. I found that odd and somewhat offputting at time that she was unavailable to spend 2 minutes discussing the test results and her recommendations. However, I let that go - figuring I still possessed enough mental acuity to read the hard copy of the colonoscopy report and follow her recommendations. I, therefore, cannot comment on Dr. Broussard's communication skills or bedside manner. It is impossible to do so if you haven't even had a opportunity to talk to the physician. Now, a year later, I scheduled both a repeat colonoscopy and a cardiac echo that my primary care physician had recommended for an incidental asymptomatic murmur detected on a routine wellness exam. The echo was to be performed one day after the colonoscopy. Two days into my more intensive bowel prep (Miralax twice daily and a restricted low fiber/low residue diet), the Pac Med GI clinic called to notify me that they had cancelled the procedure because an echo had not yet been completed. Since I was already in the midst of the pre-procedure prep, I asked the clinic if they would check with my primary MD to gain a medical assessment as to whether I was stable to undergo the test. They refused to do so. I then asked if they could contact cardiology and expedite the scheduling to my routine echo ahead of the colonoscopy so that the latter procedure could continue as scheduled. They refused to do so. I then asked if they would reschedule my colonoscopy at a later date after the echo was completed. They refused to do so. The scheduler advised that they would do nothing until the echo report had been completed and reviewed by their clinic. I should simply call them at a later date. My impression of Dr. Broussard and the Pac Med GI clinic, of which she is listed as the section head, are as follows: Physician-patient communication and interaction is shambolic (and actually absent in my particular case unless you consider a only written report without the MD speaking to the patient to be sufficient). Pac Med clinics are apparently so balkanized that the different departments are unable or unwilling to coordinate between each other. This creates a logistic nightmare for the patient when scheduling tests. It is irresponsible to require patients to initiate bowel prep instructions without having reviewed their records to determine if you are willing to perform a procedure. Their cancellation of my procedure should have been communicated before instructing me to start a bowel prep. This could have been done by having the nurse anesthetists review my medical records ahead of time. The clinic's refusal to even allow later scheduling of an elective procedure at a later date when other tests would have been completed reflects an inflexibility that is ridiculous. For any new patient considering using the Pac Med system and especially their GI clinic, I would suggest they consider an alternative - Swedish, Virginia Mason, Kaiser, etc. The care and customer service at another clinic can not be worse than what Pac Med offers. I've been an oncology patient here for over 10 years. While sorry to read about others' experiences with reception, etc., mine has always been positive. Using MyChart made it easy to contact my MD, Sharmila Ahmed, within a business day. The length of our relationship has given me plenty of time to check her recommendations with other doctors and organizations; they've always been cutting edge. This past year has created many opportunities to visit with Dr Ahmed, unfortunately. She has invariably been positive and encouraging through a difficult time. read more

I love my individual doctor in Internal Medicine at PacMed, Dr. Alexander Park. Yet, as a health organization, PacMed is disorganized, understaffed, and their facilities are depressing. Trying to get in touch with any physician or physician's office is next to impossible. Switchboard waits are often way over an hour. Staff routinely do not read a patient's chart and make a plethora of errors, screwing up prescriptions and appointments. I have dealt with medical facilities most of my adult life, my wife has been in medical administration for over 40 years. We both agree PacMed is useless, but again my physician, Alexander Park is fantastic. I am 72 years old and have Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disease. I tested positive for Covid yesterday and need advice and direction. I waited over an hour and a half on the phone, and all the switchboard could tell me is go to the ER. Are you kidding me? That's incompetence of the highest degree. I realize it's difficult keeping and hiring staff, but pay more, and that difficulty will fade away. Medicine shouldn't always be about profit, but that's where we have landed in the 21st Century, and it's worse in Seattle than any other major city in the United States. read more

Beware of medical billing here. After my appointment with Dr Aikawa, they didn't send in proper authorization for the service to my insurance, so insurance declined it. I have been on the phone with their billing department for countless hours / months trying to sort it out, only for Pacmed to tell me that now it's been over a year and they can no longer provide the necessary authorization. Despite having paid every medical bill I have ever had on time, I have been sent to collections for the $600 bill. I now have to either pay it or take them to small claims court, all because they didn't do their due diligence to begin with. It feels like a complete scam. In contrast, I am now pregnant and have had many appointments at Swedish First Hill this year and have never once had a billing issue there. Consider using any other medical center in the area before Pacmed. read more

Unfortunately, what everyone is saying about the receptionists is true. They are rude, ignore patients, and have loud conversations on the phone about inappropriate topics like murder or family issues. I've switched providers because of feeling really stressed every time I had an appointment here. It's sad because my doctor was wonderful. My last visit was even worse than usual. After seeing my doctor I was waiting in the room for a very long time and finally called out and asked if I could leave. They had just forgotten about me. When I told the doctor's assistant that I had been waiting, she refused to apologize and rudely scowled and walked away. PacMed-First Hill/Madison is the home turf for my onocologist, surgeon, and dermatologist. I've also seen an ENT specialist and have had baseline, preventive diagnostic tests at this downtown Seattle/"Pill Hill" location. There are other hospitals and medical facilities all clustered in proximity such as Swedish, Virginia Mason, Bloodworks NW, and Harborview. Again, pleasant and professional staff at this location. Need to pay for parking, but one receives a price break. Just keep track where you parked and switching elevators to get to the clinic areas for the directionally challenged! read more

I've been going to Pac Med for years for primary care and a have done a few other things with them. I'm done with Pac Med after my last primary care appointment. My amazing doctor, Alexander Park, left the practice and I was reassigned to Dr. Kennelly. I booked my annual wellness visit and made a list of things to discuss as I always did with Dr. Park. I had 5 items, but most were simple like some minor shoulder pain (question: should I see a physical therapist?) and a referral to dermatology for a routine skin exam. When Dr. Kennelly came into the room her first remark was that we didn't have time to cover 5 items and I should pick my top three. I went quickly and we did get through everything given how small the items were. The only one we spent more than two minutes on was recurring heartburn, which is something Dr. Park and I had worked on together previously. I wanted to understand next steps since I've been taking a daily over the counter drug for heartburn for a while. Dr. Kennelly suggested I wean off the OTC drug, but her medical knowledge was clearly lacking as she suggested I cut the pills in half. They are delayed release pills which specifically warn against cutting as this can cause the medicine to release quickly. Her suggestions reflect that she did not do her due diligence on my history before the appointment. Dr. Kennelly also did not order labs or ask any of the usual questions Dr. Park would ask during my annual wellness visits. But the real kicker is when I received a bill for $500 because the visit was not billed as a wellness exam, but rather an office visit coded as 99215, which indicates the highest level of medical decision making and 40-54 minutes of time spent by the doctor. I strongly disagree with the coding decision and I requested a coding review. The billing department said only a change in the notes by the doctor would change the coding. I contacted Dr. Kennelly by secure message and politely asked her to update the notes to accurately reflect that this was a wellness visit where we discussed the same concerns I always brought to these visits. Dr. Kennelly would not even respond to my message. After I sent a second message, I got a message back from the billing department indicating that Dr. Kennelly confirmed with them that the coding is accurate. In summary: poor patient care and sketchy billing. Time to look elsewhere. read more

The doctors here are great, but their front staff? That's a whole other story!! Over the phone they are rude and make it seem as if you calling to make an appointment is a burden! In person, when you walk into the clinic don't expect them to smile neither. They're just as rude, unwelcoming, and burdened by you coming to the clinic as they sound on the phone! Ive been with them since moving to the mainland in 2009 and the staff then were awesome, but since 2016 customer service has gone down hill. I've filled out a lot of their comment cards they have around and it seems that it's getting worse rather than better! Since my last review, I have been in correspondence with Andrew and a few other staff members at PacMed. Had it not been for Andy, one member from billing, and one member from clinical services, my review (and experience) would have stayed at one star. Andy was incredibly kind, responsive, and steadfast. We were able to navigate the problem together. Unfortunately, the process took 7-8 months of follow-up to resolve but what matters is that the problem is fixed. For anyone else going through something similar, hang tight, leverage your resources, and advocate for yourself. It seems as if a change in PacMed's electronic medical record system resulted in discord between their billing department and my insurer, among other things. Today I spent 55 minuets on hold and final gave up. I am experiencing a nerve problem in my spanal cord. Extreme pain. A week ago my dr. said I need a proceedure in my back that might kill the pain. He told me his office would set it up and I would get a call from their scheduler. No call. so yesterday I called and they said they are waiting approval from my insurance. I call my insurance today. They never recieved ann kind of request. They said it would be approved if they ever got it. Tried to call my Doctor's office at the Madison PACMED clinic. After 55 minuets on hold I finally gave up. I had a very long wait time but I was happy with my specialist, Dr. Wolfe. He was personable and effective addressing my issue I had dealt with for months with no relief. The procedure I had was quite uncomfortable but he was quick, confident, and made it as painless as possible. I had no problems with the admin staff. I saw Dr.Kendra Bergstrom for a fungal skin condition on my back (due to humidity). She was very nice and helpful and I had a good impression of her as a person and doctor. She gave me a prescription but after I finished the bottle, my condition did not go away. I called her office and left messages with twice with a live person, one of whom was her nurse. After promises of call-backs, I never received a single call. I only wanted to know if she could give me another prescription or did I need to make an appointment to come back in to see her. My calls to her office were 2 weeks in between, so i had waited a reasonable time to call again. Silence. It doesnt matter to me how decorated a doctor you are from NYC. If a Doctor cannot simply return a simple call as an after-service to answer a patient's concerns about a persisting condition, I will simply go elsewhere to someone competent and follows up. I have since made an appointment elsewhere for my skin condition. read more

Oh hell, naw. HELL NAW. This place just wasn't for me. I went in for some acne medicine cause my ego was taking a beating with each new bump that surfaced. I needed a new dermatologist that didn't want to just pump me full of antibiotics cause homey doesn't play that. The doc I got to see was cool, she was down to earth and pretty hip for a doctor. That's cool. While I was there I asked if a particular mole could be removed eventually. The doc said no problem and that my insurance will cover it all. I was all game if my insurance was going to knock that out for me - I told here I could do it the next time I came in after I checked with insurance. Newp. She wanted to do it. So she numbed me up and BAM the deed was done. She said it was a normal mole and wasn't anything to worry about. No discussion of biopsy or anything. Several weeks later I get a few bills from a couple medical facilities. One was for a biopsy - whut? And another was for blood work (I had some blood drawn) but there were about 8 tests that I had to pay a chunk for when I was expecting three, max. When I followed up with the doc she explained that they just do that - she said they don't have to but they just do it and didn't think I would mind. Yeeeeees I mind. I had to pay out the nose for some of that stuff. It wasn't even precautionary! Shoot... Anyway. So that's my issue. I just felt taken advantage of. Maybe I'm being a brat or a crybaby but it just felt like "pay your doctor bill and ask more questions next time". Saaaaad. read more

I wanted to write and update to my review. After posting this I was contacted by a very nice lady named Jane. After reading my review she genuinely wanted to speak with me further about my experience to better understand what happened and why I was so upset. She asked a lot of insightful questions and expressed sincere empathy about my difficult experience with Dr. Cufley. I could tell from talking with her that she truly cares about each patients process at their facility and wants each person to walk away feeling good about their care at PacMed. While I am not changing my rating for Dr Cufley, I still think she needs to learn serious lesson in empathy, compassion and how to treat people with a modicum of respect, her terrible performance should not reflect my overall feeling about PacMed. I am still seeing Dr. Fu there, and her office and staff have been excellent and incredibly knowledgeable. I want to thank Jane for reaching out and showing me that my feelings do matter and that I'm not just a number on a chart. I have been on hold on the appointment line for over ten minutes. Seriously? It is like this every time. I just don't have the time or the patience to be kept waiting. And it is like this all of the time. Every single time I call in for a simple appointment, this is what happens. On hold, still on hold, irritated, still on hold..... Why cannot Pac Med just hire one or two more people to man the phone lines? I believe that they would ultimately save money, because people like myself would stop getting frustrated and choosing to go to another doctor. Because I can! This review is about Pacific Medical Centers billing practices and not about the doctor I saw. The care I received was great, but... Before seeing a cardiologist there, I spoke with a woman in his office regarding my insurance coverage. I offered to call my insurance company myself if she would give me details about what would be done because I wanted to verify my insurance company would be paying since I couldn't afford to pay for it. She assured me that she would call and verify since she knew all the information about what they would bill for and said there was no need for me to call. A couple weeks later the woman returned my call and assured me my insurance company would be paying. No mention of a deductible or anything I would be liable for. So I made the appointment and had the procedure. 6 MONTHS LATER I got a huge bill from Pacific Medical Centers. My insurance company did NOT PAY because the procedure was subject to my deductible, which I had not met. I've tried speaking with multiple people, including a supervisor, in the Pacific Medical Centers billing department and my insurance company has spoken with them also on my behalf. They refuse to acknowledge that anything was done incorrectly and blame me for not knowing my insurance policy better than they do. In addition, my insurance company records all calls and they have no record of anyone from the provider's office calling to verify coverage. Not only was I given incorrect information, I was encouraged not to call my insurance company myself, and then lied to about them calling to verify my coverage. Pacific Medical Centers is now refusing to work with me on the charges. My only options are to pay the full amount in installments or to receive a 20% discount for paying in full immediately, which is standard and not in recognition of their mistake. If you go here DEMAND that they give you every billing code they will submit to your insurance company and a full description of what they plan to do and INSIST that you call for yourself. They don't care if they screw up verifying coverage and withhold important billing information because they will simply demand you pay out of pocket. And, guess what...unless you feel like letting a medical bill go to collections, you'll be stuck paying. read more

How many does days does it take for a fax to travel a three blocks south from Broadway & Madison to Boren & Madison? PacMed says 12 and counting... I was referred here to a specialist (whose department does NOT have a direct number) by my primary care provider, who has stated that time and time they fax referrals here--and that PacMed insists that they have not received them. They suggested that my doctor re-fax and call them at the same time so that they can be apprised of and "ready" for it. It's not as if they're the size of Mass General, Harborview, etc. I cannot vouch for the quality of the specialists here.* But I can state that the administrative inefficiency of PacMed, at least at his location, is staggering. This is wasting everyone's time...and getting on not just a few nerves. * I do, however, recall coming here 12 years ago. One of their podiatrists was engaging in a less than above-the-board billing of my health insurance: periodic weekly one-minutes visits ("check-ups") that in the short- and long-term were ineffective in treating my chronic foot problem. Upon hearing that I had been going there for twelve weeks in a row, my doctor rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. read more

The one star is for Dr Fox, the dermatologist. She is a good doctor. HOWEVER, the wait is always WAY TOO LONG. The appointment was at 1pm, waited for 45 minutes in the patient room, then went out to ask if the doctor forgot about me. Then they told me to wait for another 10 minutes. 10 minutes after, no one show up. I went out again to ask. Waited another 15 minutes or so. Doctor finally showed about at 2:30pm. She saw me for less than 10 minutes for a shot. That was a ridiculous wait. I really DON'T recommend anyone to go to this clinic. This is not our first time being waited for so long. There are a lot of good doctors out there, just DON'T go to this clinic. read more

The vision department works likely a poorly oiled machine. It took me over two weeks to get the contacts that I was promised would take only 3 days to deliver. On several calls it took about 7 minutes of hold time and 3 operators to connect me to the proper person, which (shocker) actually voice-mail. My calls were never returned. When I ask them to call in my prescription to the drug store they said they could do it in a day, other offices will do it in no more than 30 minutes. During my eye examination they opted to put in numbing eye drops and touch my eye with a machine to check the pressure. Other offices use an easy, side effect free test using a puff of air. The numbing eye drops made my eyes tired and I had a difficultly focusing for the remainder of the day. I will not be returning. read more

I love the doctors at pac med. I'm here now for Dr.ballard and he's extremely knowledgable but cautious he rather have surgery be your last resort. Only complaint is about maria the office receptionist, I got lost went to where I had my surgery (i was there on time) and was 30 minutes late and she was so rude, virgina mason even called to let them know I was late. read more

The only reason I'm not giving this review a five star is because of the wait times. Other than that, my experience there has been nothing short of "very satisfied". From the minute I walk in, all the staff there have been great to work with. The front desk is always cheerful and efficient, and all the doctors I've seen there (about 4) have been what I would consider some of Seattle's best. Some reviewers have commented on billing fiascoes, luckily I have never had a problem in that regard. I've been seeing this group about ten years and have no reason to switch. read more

I am writing this review for my mother, who had a horrible experience with Dr.Fu in Pain Management at Pacific Medical. Her nursing staff lacked proper communication between the doctor and patient, so many things were misconstrued attitude not properly handled. And due to this, the doctor had the audacity to have an attitude with my mother, who was not at fault at all. Overall an unprofessional experience. read more

I see Dr Bergstrom in Dermatology. I am always nervous about seeing new doctors, but when i met her we hit it off immediately. She is genuine, very positive, she will also tell you the truth in a nice way too. She is very patient and doesn't hurry you out of her office; she has answered all my silly questions and major concerns. She is currently helping me with Keloids and we have found an effective solution that works while i am trying to get pregnant. Every time i see her, she is remembers my story and she genuinely cares for her patients. Her nurse Jenna is awesome too. I wish she was my GP, my OBGYN, and my Derm altogether - she is just that good she would want her for everything else. Unfortunately she just does derm. read more

The whole team in the ambulatory surgery center was wonderful. When Dr Dianne Bai came in, I was laying down on the bed, she took my hand and cradled it in her hand in a compassionate, motherly manner. She told me what to expect while she gently stroked my hand the way a mother might comfort a child. I was comforted and I was also just so amazed at how thoughtful she was. The whole surgery team that day seemed to have a wonderful rapport and worked in a seamless.teamwork manner that conveyed their confidence in their skills and joy for their work. I would definitely recommend Dr Bai and the rest of the team who was working 12/30/11 in the am! read more

RIPPED OFF... I saw a ear, nose and throat doctor here for problems breathing through my nose. The doctor was pleasant and offered solutions for my problem. He used a lighted scope to look into my nose to determine what was blocking my ability to breath. Not long after that 3 weeks I got a statement from my insurance company that they were not going to pay 450.00 dollars for this scope procedure. Then the crooks PMC sent me a bill for 450.00 dollars. I am very angry I have to pay 450.00 dollars for a procedure that could have been preformed with the hand held lighted scope (like they use for ears, Pocket Otoscope) they could have used to look in my nose. Not sure what the fuss is about. This place is a-ok with me! Clean, expansive hallways, fast elevators, easy to find DRs offices (via the handy directory) and parking within the building. I was in and out in less than an hour and if I need to come back for another appt, well shoot, I hope it's not too soon. read more

This five-star review is specifically for my primary care physician of the last four years, Dr Alexander Park at PacMed First Hill. He is, hands down, the best doctor I've ever had (sounds like hyperbole but it's my honest assessment). He's thoughtful and knowledgeable, very focused on treating the whole person, really getting to understand long-term issues as well as acute problems. I'll be lucky if I ever find another doctor in whom I feel I can place so much personal trust and confidence (though he's given me a recommendation for SoCal that I'll follow up). And to be honest I don't recognize the reported patchy or poor infrastructure experience with PacMed in other reviews here on Yelp. I've always found the desk and phone staff to be capable and efficient (OK, there was one irritating procedure appointment glitch we never got to the bottom of, apart from that). Insurance stuff has always worked out (I wish they would email their copay invoices rather than use snail mail, but maybe that's the law here). Their online portal is really easy to use, giving you access to all your information. Overall, I'm really glad I picked PacMed for the four years I was in Seattle. read more

Your call is lost and no one calls you back. Very unfriendly receptionists with attitudes like you are disturbing them if you call to make an appointment. Horrible management! The service here is excellent. I never have to sit in the waiting room. I'm always given a token thingy to let myself into the patient room. Once in the patient room, there is sometimes a wait, but never more than 10 minutes. The patient rooms are very clean. read more

I was so happy to find a doctor like Natalie Kress, especially after going a while without primary care due to my anxiety surrounding doctors. After my first appointment I was reassured by the way she listened and validated my concerns. However, I will NOT be going back due to the fact that I had rescheduled my appointment, got NO reminder call, and when I called the person who answered the phone representing Pac Med had NO IDEA WHO MY DOCTOR WAS AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NO DR. KRESS AT PAC MED. I encourage whoever is reading this to pull up the phone call and listen to this incompetent and apparently illiterate person who is supposed to be the standard of customer service at this facility. Don't bother filling out a web form, as I have now filled out TWO with no response. Additionally, I have called multiple times, and have chosen the call back option because I do not have two hours to wait to speak to an allegedly competent customer service agent, only to not get a call back. They changed their MyChart, and the only way to get access to your information IS TO LOG INTO THE NEW MYCHART- HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THIS IF I CANNOT CONTACT YOU TO GET THE NEW INFORMATION I NEED TO DO THIS?! I'm sorry Dr Kress, you are so so great, however, I refuse to be subjected to this level of incompetence whenever I need health care. read more

I began seeing Dr. Barbara Fox in hopes that she could help me get rid of my cystic acne and get me started on isotretinoin (accutane). She agreed that accutane would be the best option for me. Dr. Fox and her assistant Mao made the proccess of getting accepted into the iPledge system very easy. Mao and the other assistants at Pac Med have been very helpful, they always answer my calls and if they're unavailable they always call back in less than 24 hours and leave a voicemail if I am unable to answer.
