Dr Akhil Saji removed a tumor and conducted a partial nephrectomy of my right kidney. In every respect I experienced him to be an excellent urologist and surgeon. He is highly skilled and competent as a surgeon. Furthermore, he is kind, patient, informative and responsive. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr Saji. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Tanya Nazemi since 2016 for pesky kidney stones. She did both of my surgeries in 2016 & March of 2018. She is very kind, professional, and takes time with you. She also reaches out with phone calls on results, and after procedures to make sure you're okay or to discuss things. That little touch just makes receiving medical care that much better. I also had to see the P.A. Michi and she was just great all around. Very caring and professional. I think she compliments Dr. Nazemi well. I am glad to have them both on my care team.The office does get busy but I have gotten follow-up calls and messages in a timely manner. It also helps that I work in the area so getting to and from appointments isn't a big issue, I like the convenience and they've worked with me and my work schedule. read more

I rarely write reviews but I am compelled this time because I think it is important for the Group to be address some problems that at least one patient is having and this review is intended as constructive criticism. It is unclear to me if my poor experience with Swedish Urology Group is just the state of our medical system these days (I am not a frequent user of medical services). I do appreciate the miracle of modern medicine when accessible. Dr. Robin Lee would get 5 stars for the work he has done for me (culminating in a TURP on 12/4/23) and assuming I eventually fully recover (which is not the case almost 7 weeks following my procedure which is abnormally slow I think). I have enjoyed working with Dr. Robin Lee very much and I think he is probably a very skilled surgeon. I am grateful for the extra time he has provided me. My case has involved pre-procedure complications (resistant infection in form of UTI/prostatitis sending me to ER twice with an unpleasant TURP solution recommended and performed ). My poor review of the Group pertains to pre and post procedure communications which is usually difficult, sometimes problematic and on my most recent occasion, pathetic (in my opinion). Cumbersomely slow assistance is not desired with a painful urological condition which may be resulting from infection. I think Dr Lee is very busy and does his best to be attentive but my observation is that his back-office support, once you leave the office, is a problem and is not attentive to me as a patient. I have never been able to reach Dr. Lee's team coordinator by phone even after being on hold for more than 20 minutes and no movement on the queue (suggesting to me there's no one taking the calls). So I leave a call-back number and voice mail with no call back yet here on third day following in a post procedure bind. MyChart can take days. Showing up in person doesn't appear to expedite despite the optimism of the friendly front desk person that a care coordinator will respond to me quickly on MyChart (within an hour?) . My recourse 3 days later and in the midst of an uncomfortable weekend is apparently to go to the ER a third time or start another course of antibiotics, which may not work, when all I would like is a doctor's order for a urinalysis at LabCorp--am I infected again or not? to inform my next steps. Pretty simple request. So far I am choosing to not go through the ordeal of the ER or take more antibiotics. And hope for the best! read more

Gosh if i could give this place 0 stars I would. The restroom is so disgusting. There's constant puddles of pee and splatters all over the counter. Not even that their machine right next to toilet is never cleaned between people. There's hair all over the commode and pee and dirt. Someone would be out of their mind to use that commode. The sharps bins are often filled to the brim. There's often dried red soapy splotches in the room floors and sometimes pee if they dont clean right. Their medical assistants take forever to answer if they ever to answer. Often messages go unanswered in MyChart for UTI's etc. the medical assisants talk bad about patients and often so horrendous to other employees. One time I opened the little tray on the bed accidentally when trying to find a place to put my legs after laying down and it was so dirty with dried up gunk. You can hear employees talking bad. this place is so unprofessional. I'm sorry for the good people that worked here. That being said I loved the kindness of some people. I think 1 of them was In the lab. I saw her in the lab the 1st few times I came. Another RN took good care of me too. read more

My elderly relative, a wheelchair bound Vietnam veteran, with an appointment was turned away in their office today. Because they said he had Medicaid and that "negated Medicare coverage" the HEARTLESS Dr. Lee opted not to see him, leaving the appointment slot unused. How humiliating!! Do you people have a clue how difficult it is to get a wheelchair bound patient to a doctor appointment? We were told prior to the appointment multiple times that he would be responsible for the amount not covered by insurance but NEVER that Medicare/Medicaid was not accepted. Shame on you - you are a disgrace to the medical profession. read more

Vasectomy review - Dr. J. Kuan. My spouse was in to have his Vasectomy done the day before thanksgiving. Figured he may need the long holiday weekend to rest and recover. The procedure was quick, painless and believe it or not he was up and cooking Thanksgiving Day! Minimal bruising, took ibuprofen to prevent/reduce swelling, mild discomfort. I was really surprised with how little my husband complained and how quickly he recovered. He was very pleased with Dr. Kuan's bedside manner and calm persona. In house checking of samples to confirm you are sterile just have to drop off at front desk. Friendly staff.. Highly recommended. Greatful for the piece of mind. (We have one child and decided we were done) Thank you! read more

I had emergency surgery in early June 2017 to deal with both ureters being near completely blocked. Due to my dissatisfaction with the treatment and care provided by a different surgeon, I elected to have the follow up surgery done by SUA. As a new patient with Janet Lee, I was impressed with her overall abilities, professionalism and knowledge. She performed surgery in July and Aug to remove a 1.2cm stone in my left Ureter, including re-stenting on both occasions (this was a big issue for me from the original surgery that was done elsewhere). I will continue to use SUA and Janet Lee for my ongoing urology needs. I would have no concerns recommending her highly. I am taking away a star because their office is a general cluster/mess and it has been very frustrating to coordinate appointments, follow-ups and scheduling. My experiences were not as bad as others, but I did have to get fairly vocal at one point about these missed contacts, particularly when I was experiencing a lot of post-care discomfort. There were many times when phone calls weren't returned and where messages went unanswered for days. We're all busy, but this is an important part of the care that patients need. Absolute disaster of scheduling an appointment and a complete waste of time. I made a appointment with them about 2 months ago for a date to see the doctor. When I came in they told me that my appointment was canceled and they tried to reschedule me by phone. Then it turns out that their system had the wrong phone number along with the wrong address. Apparently they got a new system and it was so shitty that it transferred over wrong contact information and they don't bother going in and correcting it. Then they tried to set up a zoom meeting appointment and sent me a code to register that didn't work. The zoom meeting was then tried to reschedule again but the doctor doesn't work fri-sun and won't have appointments later than 230pm so I had to Cancel a different day of work to do a virtual meeting. By this time I was so annoyed and I told the office assistant I was too frustrated with the scheduling to continue and she just said "okay bye" and hung up. This experience has been so disappointing and frustrating, what a waste of 2 months. read more

My husband had a reconstruction surgery post radical prostatectomy that we were assured would be covered by our insurance. 2 years later we are getting a bill for $64,000 because the insurance denied it. Dr. Quan told us $20,000 without insurance. If we knew that it was even remotely possible that it wouldn't be covered by our insurance he would not have had the procedure done plus no one said anything about the possibility of a $64,000 bill coming. Apparently they won't send any additional documentation in to the insurance either. Thanks Swedish, looks like we will be filing for bankruptcy now. read more

I made a direct appointment over the phone to get a medical condition checked out. I had no referral from a PCP. The assistant provided me with an appointment for two days later to see Dr. Torgerson. I was able to print and fill out all paperwork at home (3 standard pages) which was very convenient. When I arrived, the staff was perfectly friendly and professional. It took 2 minutes to check in as I brought all form already filled out. Then I waited. I got called to see the doctor's assistant 5 mins earlier than expected which was a pleasant surprise. The assistant then asked some basic questions and I provided a urine sample. About 5-10 mins later, Dr. Torgerson greeted me. He was as friendly and professional as it gets. He was calm and walked me through the exam procedures. He then proceeded to examine the problem and provided me with a diagnosis and treatment options. The whole procedure was fast, painless, professional, and friendly. I spent about 45 minutes of my time. read more

I went to this office as a referral for a slightly high PSA and Dr. Torgerson didn't even consider other options such as urine samples, antibiotics, or other before pressuring me into a COSTLY biopsy. When I asked about the results, his response was short and conflicting. In fact, in the same breath, he's already trying to schedule me for my next COSTLY procedure (MRI). Furthermore, the customer service is non-existent. Every time that I would call, I would get a voicemail that states they are busy. They will return your call when they feel like it which is usually a few days later. I would go to a urologist in another country before I went back to this one! read more

I would not visit this office unless you feel a $250 deposit for an insured individual to have a urology consult is acceptable. PNW fertility referred me to Dr Kuan's office for a further consult on the test I took. I even called my insurance company and they said it was only $35 copay. The receptionist was rude and gave me no explanation but "her policy said so." Policies can speak? She put me on the phone with a business manager, Michelle. Another waste of my time. Michelle began to explain to me that they have trouble billing insurance companies for my type of visit. Really? I must be the only person with sperm morphology issues. My visit is not uncommon, and I was only seeking an opinion not fertility treatment. Michelle was rude, clueless, and her only suggestion was to cancel my appointment. Sounds like she is managing the business quite well. Meanwhile, I am on the phone in the reception area, where everyone waiting can hear our conversation. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! read more

I have been so disappointed with the care, or lack thereof, that I have received through Dr. Torgerson at the Swedish Urology group. I was being treated for a blocked ureter, and had a nephostomy tube already in place when I began seeing Dr. Torgerson. Nephostomy tubes typically cause UTI's, which can be very painful, unless treated with an antibiotic right away. When symptoms began, on a Thursday, I went into the office to submit a urine sample with Dr. Torgerson's PA. She told me at that time, that they would not have the results for 48 hours, which would be Saturday. I explained that I had had several of these infections, and needed an antibiotic immediately to tide me over until Monday, when the test results would show the exact type of antibiotic I needed. She promised to get an okay from Dr. T. and call me before the end of the day Friday. Well, to get to the point, she did not call me, leaving me to go four+ days untreated. Frustrated, Friday at 5:15pm, I called the Swedish Urology Group's on call physician, Dr. Mullen. After leaving a second message, He finally returned my call at 7:15pm. I was shocked at Dr. Mullen's verbal abuse of the office, blaming them for causing him to deal with the situation. I gave him the number of my pharmacy, and hung up. 30 seconds later Dr. Mullen called me back, screaming that the number given was incorrect. I restated the number, and he told me that was what he had dialed. This is a quote of what he then said, "You have exactly 30 seconds to get me a correct number!" When I responded that I was relooking the number up, he hung up on me! Yes, a medical physician, who is supposed to help people, hung up on me! BTW, the number I had given him was correct, he obviously misdialed. Two weeks ago I had a Renogram ordered by Dr. Torgerson, at Swedish Nuclear medicine. This was a very expensive, hour long radiology exam on my kidney function and ureter flow. The results were sent to Dr. Torgerson that very afternoon. As of date, I still have not heard from Dr. Torgerson with the results of this test. Thankfully, my amazing Oncologist, Dr. Kaplan, was able to retrieve the results to share with me during my last visit. Is this the kind of physician you would want treating you? read more

Do NOT expect any follow up call, satisfaction survey, anyone to answer voice mail professional or courteous phone staff if you chose this clinic. While the physicians are great, the supporting staff are lazy and unprofessional. In these days of Value Based Reimbursement.....they should be more concerned with patient satisfaction. read more

The front desk/office manager is clearly playing games with when and how she schedules patients. Despite discharge papers recommending we see Dr Kuan, she scheduled us with another doctor in an office downtown (not Ballard as requested). Attempts to reschedule were met with rude comments and disrespect. And, the doctor she scheduled us with does not have ANY appointments in Ballard. Also good to point out that despite the name, this is NOT a part of Swedish Medical Center. And, the service and care for patients by the front office shows it. Speaking with Jen made me realize how great the real Swedish is, and we are now seeking a urologist unassociated with this group and Jen. read more

I also was surprised at some of the negative reviews I read for this medical group. I have been a patient of Dr. Kuan's for the last four years, and have never found him to be anything but patient, expert and kind. The reason that I know he is expert is that he performed surgery on me for urinary stress incontinence four years ago and I have had zero, zip incontinence since then. In the last four years I have seen him for other urologic issues and he has been receptive, kind, caring and most of all, knowledgeable. And a great surgeon! read more

I'll start by saying that I was, certainly, disappointed and puzzled when I'd finished reading Irina's review. Though quite specific (and, even, sadly clever) in their content, Irina's written comments could/would/should have been more helpful had particular names been substitued for the pronoun "they" throughout. So in this, my review, I WILL name names! After (barely) enduring seven prostate biopsies since the fall of 2009 by two other surgeons at another medical facility, I was referred to Doctor Green at the Swedish Group for another "prostate-plowing": I gritted my teeth, steeled my jaw, and thought that I was ready for something similar to what had been those prior seven incredibly horrible miseries . . . Wow! Was I Wrong!! Where the "one-to-ten pain level" of each of the sixteen-to-eighteen cuts among each of those past seven biopsies had, most often, been in the "nines" --- and never below a "7.5" --- at Dr. Green's hand, I experienced three cuts that might have "2.5+", while all the remaining cuts DID NOT EVEN REACH "1"!!! My wife, who works in hospital administration, says, "you can't beat 'practiced skill' by a surgeon!" . . . Thanks, again, Doc!!!!! As an aside and final note, when a glitch with a couple of my scrips recently had me stymied, Dr. Green's medical assistant, Jennifer, was concerned, courteous, and helpful in providing prompt information for solution; which allowed me to, then, get them filled. -----JCP, grumpy-old-man near Seattle and (so far) prostate cancer survivor. read more

I called them to get an appointment, since my wife had to go to ER and was diagnosed with a stone. The first question the Swedish Urologist receptionist asked was "What Type of Insurance Do you Carry"? And then the next statement, was what was the ER Drs name. I said I could not recall, since we only met him briefly. The third was not a question but a statement, that the appointment will be in 2 weeks in Ballard (not Seattle) because the Drs were all attending a conference. This office really needs to sharpen up how they first come across to the patient. read more

My experience with Swedish Urology Group is not great at all. I have kidney stones. These doctors may be good surgeons but the way they treat you non-surgically is terrible. Some time after I had my stone removed surgically I experienced similar symptoms and called the office. I couldn't get hold of the doctors and spoke to a nurse who was not knowledgeable at all. Even I knew more. Finally, a PA called me but wasn't very helpful either. She said my symptoms didn't suggest I had a kidney stone and told me to go to a gynecologist!!! I went to my primary care physician and she ordered a CAT scan that confirmed another stone. This time Swedish Urology Group believed me! Later when the pain was gone they told me to do a 24-hour urine collection test and come to the appointment to discuss my treatment plan based on the results of the test. On the day of the appointment it turned out that they didn't have the test results. The nurse said that it's because these tests take about a month to be processed!!!!!!!! They also told me they had contacted the Litholink company (that performed the test) and the company said that they didn't have me in their database. I ended up calling the company myself while in the doctor's office and found out that my test results were sent two days after the sample was received (so it didn't take them a month to do the test) but to a different doctor who happens to have the same last name as my doctor. I asked them to fax the results to the right doctor which they finally did. So it wasn't all that difficult to get the test results by the day of my appointment. But the staff didn't even care. The question is why did I have to do it myself, why did I have to wait in the office for almost 2 hours? And what was the point of coming to the appointment? It was as if they didn't want me to be there. Then why did they ask me to do the test and come and discuss the treatment plan to begin with? Why did they lie to me about contacting LithoLink? It's very frustrating to deal with doctors like these. If they don't know how to treat you or don't want to do it they shouldn't schedule appointments. These urologists literally PISSED ME OFF. I wish I could cast all my stones at them. read more
