Fast forward to my massage day, my massage was on time and Riley was amazing. She asked a few questions in the beginning of my massage but then was quiet after that. She had just told me if I need any pressure changes to let her know. She used a nice firm pressure and I really appreciate just having a quiet, affective, relaxing experience. Sephora may be best known for its amazing selection of makeup and fragrance, but lately, they've really been killing it on the skin and hair treats. Sephora used to be the kind of place that has some ultra-luxe items that are definitely in the "treat" category, but they've been adding more and more brands that are a bit more budget-friendly while still offering great results. I scored myself a big bottle of Moroccan Oil (treat) and a couple of items from the new-to-me TheInkeyList brand. This brand uses ingredients that you definitely won't see in your typical drugstore brands but keeps the prices lower. Bonus: they go on great and work well. Absolutely stop by and look at their serums. Helpful staff and a clean and well-organized store make this location one of my favorites. (This location always keeps their testing stations well-stocked with applicators, tissues, alcohol, and makeup remover, too.)

It's so dark and dreary that it's quite impossible to compare colors and undertones properly. I generally avoid it for this reason, as the dim lighting is a hindrance enough that I can't discern swatch differences despite holding the palette of colors on the back of my hand up to any brighter source of light possible. A lot of people like to vary their makeup looks, and I enjoy appreciating their creative personal expressions of beauty. I prefer only to subtly enhance my natural looks, so I'm specifically seeking only most natural color possible. I take my time comparing products in being very deliberate in anything I do. With beauty products, I test new bestsellers in every beauty product type against my current kit once annually. I do the same with digital apps and programs twice a year. As I'm starting to become more active as a model again now, I'm fleshing out my kit again for the first time since pre-quarantine. One of my last products to find is a longwearing liquid lip product, which I narrowed down to two products across six colors to test in the store. Southdale was on my route, so I stopped in and was able to narrow the six down to three. With the lighting at the Southdale Sephora making the comparison of subtle swatch differences entirely unreliable, I asked to use my allowed three samples to be used for the three lip colors I'd narrowed down to from the palette of rosewood, tea rose, and nudes still swatched on the back of my hand. The Sephora teammate was visibly unwilling though verbally stating otherwise - before suggesting that I use the lip swatch applicator sticks to sample the three lip colors and bring outside to sample. Let me get this straight: You're actively suggesting that a customer swatch a lip stain product on three open-ended sticks to walk outside with. Questions: 1. The lip product is so known for its staining power that it comes with a warning, and you knew it had staining qualities as it was part of our conversation. I'm wearing white. Are you covering the cost of cleaning should a customer get bumped and get the staining product on their clothes on their way out? 2. The walk from the storefront to the parking lot is 5-10 minutes long. Long-wearing liquid lip products are known to be fast-drying, and the movement of walking plus the time between applications dry each one that much further, thus affecting test application, appearance, and wear. How did this factor into the logic of suggesting applicator sticks? 3. Testing immediately outside with no makeup removal product in hand to wipe clean between tests, the residue of each last color would of course affect the next. How is this conducive of proper sampling procedure? 4. Part of the intention of this sampling was to test the longwearing claim of the product and see how each of the three compare against each other. How does swatching one right after the other in a parking lot allow for practical wear testing? This is not the first time Sephora has been awkward about sampling. I've witnessed plenty of representatives assisting guests and being very passively aggressive about the practice, and that's across the nation. That said, this experience of mine was paired by far the most ridiculous reasoning I've received or witnessed yet. Sephora, if you don't want to offer samples, it's simple: Don't offer samples. If Sephora locations actively make customers feel unwelcome for asking for samples that the Sephora brand so proudly claims is a part of the brand experience, expect customers to have a major problem with this consistent incongruence in brand identity and the disconcerting treatment that has me looking elsewhere for ongoing subscription purchases for all products that become part of my kit as my response in voting with my dollar. That's bad business for Sephora considering that the brand carries over 50% of the products in my kit in stores and over 80% when ordering online.

It's be great to get that done! I am so glad that I went to Lola for my treatment, my scalp feels so clean and refreshed and I feel like a new person. The entire experience from the jump was great, it's a welcoming space with calming sounds and essential oil diffusers that set the mood as you enter the spa space. The bedding and blankets were actually a surprise and I was a little nervous as it's hard for me to relax sometimes.. Lola fixed that! The spa experience was so relaxing that I was really close to falling asleep on multiple occasions. Thank God I don't snore if I did.. My scalp was treated with multiple rounds of feel good tools and shampoos to get the gunk out and boy did it get the gunk out! On September 10, 2021, Sanctuary was the first salon I used in the Twin Cities. I handed the stylist (Deanne) my Aveda formula that I had used for years in Virginia for my color touchups. She followed it and I left happy--with a head full of gold tones. July 21, 2022, I came back for another touchup; this time the stylist was Lindsey. I again asked her to use my Virginia formula and gave it to her. She agreed, but then changed the color (without my OK). My hair came out very dark brown. She refused to redo it with the gold color. The manager refunded my $200 after a two weeks, and I vowed to myself that I'd never come back! Then recently, I heard that the Sanctuary stylist, Deanne, was a master at spiral perms. I broke my hard rule about never returning to Sanctuary and tried to schedule with Deanne for July 30, 2025. The receptionist refused to accept me for an appointment! She vaguely said, "Four years ago there was an issue of some sort." I persisted and she finally scheduled me. After my color, Deanne and I planned my perm timing, and I was excited to do it! September 23, 2025, I brought my daughter (and her caregiver) to Sanctuary with me so Deanne could give my daughter a condition/cut and give me a color touchup. When I paid the bill, I asked the cashier to please break down the various charges, because my daughter had to pay me back for her services. The cashier said her machine couldn't do that, so I asked her if she would please write down the separate charges. It took her a while to look up the price of each service, then I had my list and we all left. But then when I called to schedule my perm, the manager answered the phone and berated me for being rude to the cashier during my last visit. (! ? !) I was stunned and quite hurt at such accusations! I told her she had to have the wrong person; that certainly never happened, nor would I do such a thing! She hesitated and then said she "would recheck her video" of the front desk that day and call me back." It didn't take her long to respond and she was very discourteous to me and used a derisive voice. That manager told me she "was positive the video showed me being rude to the cashier and I could never come back to Sanctuary!" I cried after I hung up, and I stayed morose for several days. It finally dawned on me what must have happened! That video could not have sound, or she would have heard what I said. It had to be because my checkout took longer than normal, that the manager assumed I was being impolite. (It took longer because the cashier was looking up the various charges and writing them down for me.) Now, even though Sanctuary may have the BEST spiral perm stylist, NEVER EVER (EVER!) shall I return there! How can they keep their Aveda reputation (or even stay in business) when their manager seeks out ways to run off good customers........ PS. I am also sending this review to Aveda HQ.

I am taking the time to write a review of my second bad experience I had at this salon. What was good in experience with a relaxing massage turned into a terrible customer experience with the front desk person, Kiajarra at the Sanctuary Spa, Prairie Center Drive location. Upon checkout she already had a terrible attitude, then informed me it was full price of $150+ for my massage, even though in the month of November 2025, the salon is running a promotion for 90 min for $90 with a particular masseuse. She grudgingly (with a chip on her shoulder) rectified the price after I questioned her math and the salon's promotion. This salon has also had previous bad management, with employees and customers alike, complaining and quitting. I regretfully gave your salon a second chance to be proven right about your bad business practices. People go to the salon for treatments and to relax but having employees like this at the front desk is a turn off for customers and need I even say, it's just bad for business. That kind of mistreatment will drive customers away. Customer service takes a special skillset. It's an end-to-end experience and one that ultimately determines if a customer will return.

It sounded like an adjoining wall to the room had someone throwing barbells at the wall and my esthetician had to step out at one point to grab a towel and the room leads right into the main hallway so privacy seemed a little lax. The service itself was just fine. I have some scar tissue on my nose that I forgot to mention to her and she asked if it was painful before trying to extract it like all others do, I appreciated that. The young lady at the front desk was great. I chose tea on arrival and they have some liquid infusions they make it with. I tried the cranberry pomegranate and it was gross, way too sweet. With using the LifeSpa you get to utilize the gym and other services so I would totally use them again to hit up the steam room after. Prices were very affordable surprisingly.
