Total Wine & More at the the West-Side of Austin is a Treasure Trove for Kosher Finds and Beyond. Whenever our errands take us to the west side of town, one of my stops will invariably be Total Wine & More. Compared with Spec's, the store feels almost cathedral-like in scale, with wide, uncluttered aisles that let you browse without playing bumper-carts and shelf after shelf arranged with Talmudic precision. What keeps me coming back is the breadth of choice. Their collection of non-alcoholic wines, beers, and ready-to-drink alternatives is noticeably broader than Spec's, perfect for evenings when the driver's seat awaits or when friends prefer something spirited without the spirits. But the real show-stopper is the Kosher Israeli section. From crisp Galilean Sauvignon Blancs to robust Judean Hills Cabernet blends, and even the occasional flash sale on a Golan Heights Reserve. I can restock for Shabbat without resorting to online scavenger hunts. A quick spin through the shelves usually uncovers a new gem to slip into the cart beside trusted favorites like Psagot and my favore Mt Tabor Wines. Despite the sheer volume of inventory, the store never feels overwhelming. Labels are grouped logically, signage is clear, and staff float through the aisles like sommeliers on patrol, ready with pairing suggestions or a helping hand for those top-shelf bottles just out of reach. Checkout is swift, and the spacious layout means even at peak hours you rarely find yourself wedged between clinking carts. Though Total Wine & More shines in selection, I believe the personnel at my local Spec's are still more friendly, this most likely because the large-town Austin attitude has not infiltrated small-town Elgin. In short, Total Wine & More marries big-box variety with boutique-shop ease, a blessing for anyone hunting Kosher Israeli wines or alcohol-free alternatives without sacrificing elbow room. Next time you are heading west, leave an extra slot in the trunk; odds are you will fill it. Oh and don't forget, do not drink and drive. Opa.

I love shopping at TW&M, BUT this location has several lows. Most importantly, the incredibly inept - albeit friendly - staff I've ever experienced at a TW. Shopped for various holiday goodies yesterday and asked assistance of finding three items from three different staff members, who each quickly replied with a dismissive "no, we don't have that." Well, guess what? I was able to find them all: peppermint candy shot glasses, Christmas Story lamp glass, and peppermint flavored vodka nibs. I know the holiday season can be especially busy. I wish I could push the blame on that; however, the store was not exceptionally busy at all. I'm also very aware of how difficult it is to hire motivated people, but other area TW&M stores have successfully done so. Oh well. I got everything I wanted (including several seasonal craft beer singles; don't even get me started on how this location "organizes" their shelves- completely nonsensical, e.g., Miller! Gasp! next to Texas craft???) AFTER spending 1hr23m in the store. I think a lil more help from the Elves wouldn't made things a bit faster. Lol. Maybe I should've hit the egg nog before writing so I don't sound like such a Scrooge. Bah humbug! Tee hee. Bottom line: I will just avoid this location in the future. Happy holiday hunting! It's rough out there.

I've gotten on this flavored vodka kick. Who would know that Fluffed Marshmallow vodka was delicious. Unfortunately the last few time at the Lakeline TW they did not have it. So I checked online to see if I can order it. That's when I found the Arboretum TW had some in stock. I couldn't figure out a way online to have them transfer some to Lakeline so I can pick up there, so I made a run to this location. Unlike grocery stores, Total wine layout is different. so I searched for the vodka section with no luck. A very nice lady employee helped me find it. She handed me a bottle and asked if there was anything I needed. I said give me more. She went to check and they had 13 bottles so I took 5 of them. Just to try something new, I grabbed a cinnamon sugar vodka. Headed to the checkout at the right time. They only had a few but I got a wine bag with dividers instead of a paper bag. The best part, I left for under $100.00.

Like a kid in a candy store the doors parted I walked in and was in awe!!! The Mecca of liquor stores; this fine establishment just might be my new hang out. Who needs to go to the bar? Just go to Total Wine and sample, sample, sample... in my short time (almost two hours) in this mega store I had a sample of a whisky mixed drink, several wine samples, a new rum, and a bourbon sour sample! Hiccup... hiccup.... hiccup... they maybe should collect car keys at the door when you come in! Seriously though... what s great selection! If you can imagine it it's here... Lane after lane of wine, a fantastic selection of whisky, a bevy of bourbon, a plethora of rum, and so on and so on. The people are super helpful! I can't count how many times I was offered help (maybe it was my dazed and confused stumble, after the shock and awe from walking into this haven of alcohol for the first time, that inspired worry for my well being.... I don't know.) Everyone was super friendly and very knowledgeable, I was impressed! I could have spent hours in here... maybe even days... the prices are so much better then many other liquor stores too. My normal buy for Whisky was 8$ cheaper here! I mean what more can you ask for? (Accept maybe a DD program) lol What a truly great location! I will be coming here from now on.

I like the staff at this Total Wine, helpful and can provide good recommendations. I was looking for a quality bourbon and Zach provided a tasing of Treaty Oak "Ghost Hill" Texas Bourbon. It's cask strength and excellent (about $60 for a 750 ml bottle). So I bought one. And a young lady in the wine department provided a recommendation on a tempranillo. Great staff, good selection, good pricing.

I love red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir top the list. My friend and Yelpie, Nickie, invited me to a wine tasting event where we sampled Cabs from regions around the world. It was very interesting learning about each region and its grape varieties. The gentleman who delivered the presentation did a fantastic job. Not only is he knowledgeable but also a true connoisseur. As much as I enjoyed some of the international Cabs, the ones from California are still my favorite. I was able to purchase a couple of bottles that have been discontinued, which was nice, and enjoyed a relaxing evening with friends and other wine enthusiasts.

This review is for a Spirits Tasting class that my boyfriend and I recently attended. The 2 hour class we attended was a Bourbon Tasting and boy did I learn a lot.. The class was led by Ruben (Store Mgr) and Justin (Assit. Store Mgr). They were both knowledgeable, interacted well with the group, were open to questions at any time, were easy to listen to and offered up some good humor too. The classes take place in a private room at the back of the store. Seats are comfortable, room is not too crowded and their air conditioning was nice and cool. Upon entering the classroom we were greeted warmly and encouraged to get a plate of snacks before the class started. The appetizers were a fruit and cheese tray, excellent pretzels, and a great meat tray which had salami and pepperoni. The black pepper crusted salami stole the show...for the food. Now on to the real stars of the show, the BOURBON!! We were given 10 different Bourbons to sample, and were given a thorough education with each one on the making, proof, type, history, etc. Ruben and Justin really know their Bourbon! The stand-outs for my inexperienced palate were Two Stars, Lazy River, Four Roses and the Calumet Farm 10 year. I would strongly encourage you sign up for the Bourbon tasting class. It is well worth it! Event Description: American whiskey is having a moment, and much of it has to do with an old favorite: Bourbon. From small-batch wonders to the craft it takes to create great Bourbon, we will be giving you a hands-on look at the most famous native spirit in America. Cost: $20

You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The crowd was friendly, the bartenders were quick with the beers, and nobody was taking themselves too seriously. I ended up staying longer than planned, drinking Lone Stars and talking to random people like we had known each other for years. If you want craft cocktails served with a rosemary sprig this is not your place. If you want a hilarious, slightly chaotic, authentically divey night in Austin with cheap beer and great stories, Dirty Bill's absolutely delivers. Five stars and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Their beer selection here is quite large and choices are pretty numerous. I decided to go with an Amber Ale it was very good! The name of it was called Cold Comfort. Flavor features to enjoy with this particular beer are malty, sweet, caramel and breadiness. The beer had a nice carbonation level too! All the flavors blended and melded together quite nicely which was nice. They certainly do know how to make beer and it was nice to get a beer type that I don't get as often. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very busy, so we were expecting a smooth experience. We ordered the bottomless mimosas, the chili crispy chicken eggs Benedict, and the chicken and waffles. The standout dish was definitely the chili crispy chicken eggs Benedict. It was flavorful, very filling, and easily my favorite thing I ordered. I would order it again if ever come back. The bottomless mimosas came pre-made in a pitcher, which was convenient, but they tasted more like juice than champagne. If you're expecting a traditional mimosa, you may be disappointed. Unfortunately, the chicken and waffles were our least favorite dish. The chicken batter was very thick, little to no seasonings and had a yeasty flavor, and the waffles were much sweeter and cakey than expected. The flavors didn't balance well, and my boyfriend wasn't able to finish even a third of his meal. Service started off well and our waitress was friendly, but as brunch went on we found ourselves having to flag her down multiple times for refills and assistance. Since the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, this was surprising. The biggest downside was the value. For the prices being charged, we expected a higher quality dining experience. While the eggs Benedict were decent, the rest of the food and service didn't quite justify the cost. The ambiance was also lacking. For a brunch spot, especially one we chose for a birthday celebration, the atmosphere felt pretty flat and didn't add much to the overall experience.
