We use the baseball fields for kickball and softball while the tennis courts support dodgeball. I'm always happy with how well the fields and courts are maintained. They offer a more pleasant experience than the other fields we sometimes get stuck on! Apparently, they offer a boxing program too! Once I check it out, I'll be happy to share my thoughts. The only downside to Kendrick are the restrooms. The good news, is they have them available and sized appropriately. However, they aren't kept up as much as they should be - at least its seems that way on some evening games. Still, compared to other places, I'm just happy to have a bathroom option!

Well, it turns out there is a completely free pool on the other side! The entrance is on Ridge Ave. and you can park on all sides of the Kendrick and there is a parking lot on the Pensdale side, but it's a touch further to walk. When you enter, it seems a bit old school as you will see benches and clothing hooks and a sign that says "Changing Area." This facility was built in 1925 so apparently back then people would just change plein air. Don't change there now. Walk through the entrance and you will be greeted by a friendly staff. The pool is great. There are only benches, no chairs. It's also all concrete so bring a towels or other devices to lay on. Consider bringing a camping chair for long stretched of hanging out. The water is clean and fresh. The staff is super attentive. The history is amazing. This is a best kept secret of the Roxborough area. Food and drink is NOT permitted. Definitely don't bring glass. I suspect it's cool to bring a plastic water bottle. Respect the pool, rules, and the staff and enjoy a FREE place to cool down in the summer.

The staff is kind, welcoming and knowledgeable. I read a review about the owner being arrogant and clueless... couldn't be further from the truth!!!! He's a real good dude. He didn't know me from a can of paint and my first day walking in with my son, he took the time to explain what the facility was all about... introduce me to staff and get my son in a league within a days time. He has the right mentality in today's world of tech, gadgets and lazy kids... He has brought New life to the word "Pick Up Basketball" Our kids are playing basketball daily! They are being physical daily!!!! His focus is on the kids , their development and most programs are available at No Cost. It bothers me to read a negative review of this place because I can see first hand what the venue and environment has done and is doing for my son. His confidence, technique, BBall IQ, network, friend circle and overall game has grown and improved. He puts the work in and shows up everyday. If by chance the courts are being used he heads over to the turf for a half hour or so and works on conditioning. I challenge anybody writing a bad review to show me a better environment centrally focused on kids development and hoops. Nobody is dragging a volleyball net or playing pickle ball on the courts!!!! it's Hoops from the minute they open til the time they close. I know you can't please everybody and there will be challenges and mishaps every now and then I'm realistic to know we are all human but if you walk into this place there's an energy that's happening that you want your kid to be a part of if they like hoops. As a professional in the basketball industry for over 25 years I know what I'm talking bout. Before you can hoop at any level you must have the confidence in your ability as a player. The commitment this place has to making sure the environment you step in is committed, controlled, motivating and educational is unmatched. I'm in the building w my son 4 to 5 days a week (if my schedule permits) if you don't understand what I wrote above, holla at me and I can explain it in person. D

We brought four friends total, hoping for a gentle afternoon to give the kids some normalcy and support. We were immediately informed there is a strict maximum of 4 guests -- and the staff member on duty refused any exception whatsoever. Of course, I couldn't ruin all the kids days so I let the kids go in. I explained I wouldn't use the pool at all, and neither would my 18 year old friend. Instead, they expected a grieving 18-year-old to single-handedly watch five kids. The alternative? Pack up and go home. When my friend provided his name, the staff member literally skipped over the page and said his sister wasn't on the list and couldn't come in until she was explained that sisters and brothers can have different last names. There was no flexibility, no empathy, and no willingness to make a reasonable accommodation for a grieving family in their own community. The irony is painful: an extra adult would have made the entire pool environment calmer for everyone. Instead, the rigid enforcement left a group of kids stressed and unwelcome in a space that should have been a small comfort, and which they had paid for. This is not a welcoming or family-friendly pool. It's a place where rules are employed without heart or common sense, and the manager explained that this was the ideal way for rules to be used. "Rules are not about compassion." Avoid unless you enjoy being treated like a number instead of a neighbor.
