This fact alone, played a huge factor when selecting summer camp for my son this year. A camp that has successfully opened its doors every summer for the last almost half century must be good. And oh it is good. Very good! The grounds are beautiful. When you visit, you forget that you are close to home. It feels as though you drove a couple of hours into Poconos. Lush green lawns, many old trees, even a lake! The camp grounds are set up such as there is a little town, with little wooden arrow signs pointing in all directions. They have a large heated pool designed for both early swimmers as well as more mature ones. They have full tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer field and baseball field among others. They have a rock climbing wall and a zip-line that goes across the lake! A horse track with two horses. Probably so much more that I am forgetting as well. Each child gets a schedule packed full of activities. In fact, activities change every 45 minutes and transition is seamless. When visiting on parent day I was so impressed by organization of the place. Everything is timed and perfectly in tune with no glitches. I guess they have done it plenty enough in the last 43 years. We love the fact that our son gets swimming lessons once a day with an instructor as well as a free swim in the afternoon. We event received a progress report on his swimming progress, it was really nice to know where he stands. In addition to all the activities, there are constantly events going on as well. They had a show, where each bunk presented on stage in front of others. Color games, carnival week with carnival rides, a late night special, where kids stay later into the night. The excitement with which my son comes home is priceless. Every day he tells me about trying new activities such as cooking or new games that he has not tried before. Also, I love the fact that he was able to make friends very quickly. His Counselor Michelle is beyond nice and accommodating. She also happens to be his transportation. The pick-up and drop off at home is super convenient but next year we might even try extended hours, which are actually very affordable. Overall, I could not be happier with the camp. When we requested information, we actually received a DVD that had a long movie about day to day activities at the camp. It was very helpful. Jacque and Rick, the owners of the camp are very easy to get in touch with and always extremely helpful over the phone and email. In fact Jacque went out of her way to get me the information on registration only a day before the deadline and still gave me the discount. We love this camp and cannot wait to have our daughter there next year as well. We would highly recommend it to anyone!

At the camp show, one of the camp directors kept INSISTING you cannot record your own child! Multiple times she got up to chastise people who did nothing more than try to film their own child in the show! They sell a DVD of the show they are forcing you to buy if you want a video. Well, who has a DVD player these days? And this time around our child was so excited to be in the show and told family members all about it and since they could not attend were very disappointed not to be able to see a cell phone video of it. We did not order the DVD since we have no DVD player but we heard they took 7 months to send them out! So to recap, they ban you from filming your own child (imagine that!) so you have to buy their overpriced DVD which took them 7 months to send out! And this horrible woman who lacks basic social skills scolds parents during the show like they are kindergarteners! I recommend finding a camp who would not nickel and dime their camp families like this and treats their families with respect. We enrolled at another camp and told the new director this situation and he just chuckled and said, 'you are always welcome to take videos of your child here.'

Tony, the party coordinator, was amazing and didn't leave any stone unturned! He had great ideas on decorating the room and allowed us to bring in some of our own food and decorations. The kids played in the fantasy fun zone for a while and played games inside the dance studio. Awesome party! Would 100% have it there again!

There's also a discovery den AKA play area indoors for $1. There's animals/insects outdoors such as turkey vultures, turtles, a butterfly house and a bird observatory (cute on the inside with toys for the kiddos - be sure to read the story about the couple who opened the center). And a natural playscape outdoors. There's also a bunch of fairy houses throughout the property that girl scouts donated. And lots of trails through the forest. They also have Magic Mornings for ages 2-4 Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - but register ahead as they only have a certain amount of spots each day (it's seasonal - they have in fall and spring but not summer - see website). It's an hour class for $10 and includes a snack, craft, nature walk etc. They usually pull out an animal each class. It's great to get some time in nature with other kids. In summer, they have a full week of Magic Mornings in their Itty Bitty Briar Camp. Ms. Heidi teaches it and she is just great. They have a different theme every day such as sun, water, clouds etc and there's an activity each day (visit pond and catch tadpoles, water play, craft pertaining to theme). They have preschool pioneers for ages 4-5 and summer camp for older kids for a week in late June. *Just beware in June that parking is limited due to school field trips and you may not fit in either of the lots; you may have to park out front of the house to the left (which is fine - she just doesn't want buses idling there) They also have field trips to gardens and to the shore, classes for seniors, family nature nights, hot smores nights... Only negative (besides parking, which they can't really control), is the "snacks" for kids at Magic Mornings aren't the healthiest. One was cinnamon sugar graham crackers with whipped cream- regular would have been fine. 2 days were cheddar gold fish. Another day was blue jello with whipped cream. And some red licorice - the kind that whips. Fruit Loops were used for colors. So, if you don't like your child eating sugar, let them know you have a dietary restriction or bring your own snack (snack time is ~10 min and probably not needed but the kids always love snack time!). Some options that would be healthier and just as easy would be pretzel sticks, fruit, crackers, popcorn, veggies, string cheese...but I guess those all cost more besides pretzels/crackers/popcorn.

This daycare was not the right fit for my family. It did not meet my expectations and the cost does…read morenot justify the lack of care received. This was my childs first time in daycare and I made that well known, even sent a little "about me" email to help staff get to know her upon arrival. My daughter did not adjust well and even though management/ownership was quick to respond and try and accomodate the problems I was having they still fell short because the resolutions would only last a day or so. I felt like I was dealing with a sales person and a lot of the time the resolutions included "this is what I found in my research on the internet" or "we just went over this in a training course". It felt very unprofessional to me. I felt like I was complaining about care all the time ontop of now having a miserable child everyday. I tried to give it time and see if she was still just trying to adjust to being in daycare but after four weeks it never got better and my intuition told me it was time to go. I witnessed staff leaving my child unattended to fend for herself during drop off as she cried no one came over to console her. Daily reports were often incomplete and later found out also inaccurate. The school offers a webcam service so you can check on your child during the day and on days they noted she had napped my poor kid was actually just sitting on her cot for 3 hours waiting for her daddy to come get her - even packed up her own bed as she waited. They didn't pull her aside for a quiet activity as discussed when I toured the facility. I had to repeatedly ask for access to the cameras - it was about 3 weeks before I contacted the company myself and signed up while I waited for the owner to approve access, I felt that to be a little odd. Covid precautions are not in place here - it is a complete free for all. No one wears masks including the owner. She wanders from classroom to classroom around the kids. She told me she has a breathing problem I didnt believe her because even her staff would take them on and off throughout the day - I saw this on the cameras. Parents were allowed to come in and out of the building - no masks - no temperature checks - nothing. I understand getting the kids to keep them on is a battle in itself but the adults should know better. Even after having a positive covid case in the building none of this improved. And everyone's opinions are different regarding the masks but for my situation I expected this precaution to be taken, just want to note it in my review if this is important to you like it was to me. During nap I saw staff laying across the floor on their cell phones. They all arrived to work as if they just rolled out of bed in sweatpants. Sweatpants that hung down low enough that their underwear hung out as they sprawled across the floor during nap time. The owner insisted this was when they were updating the childrens daily reports on the app for the parents but my app was never updated - activities for the day weren't even listed toward the end of my daughters stay there. My daughter was there for 4 weeks and had 3 different teachers - none of which came with any kind of educational background. I know that hiring is hard for everyone right now but I figured I'd mention this incase it's important to you, cause it was to me. I had hoped for more structure during the day and activities but during the four weeks we were enrolled, my kid came home with one project the majority of the day the kids were left to entertain themselves. This is what I witnessed when I finally gained camera access. Being as though my daughter was new to this type of scenario I had hoped staff/teachers/somebody would help get her involved in other kids play groups but this did not happen they let her just be by herself. I would try and follow up with the before care staff and everyday it was the same response "she's getting there". Which made me feel like my kid wasn't even being paid attention to, this was the same staff that left her crying by the door for me. Behavorial problems were a big red flag for me. My kid is sweet, funny and energetic and during her time at Kiddie Academy she grew more and more miserable. It's heartbraking that they didn't care enough to even get to know her. The staff here is not nuturing. Once a fantastic eater she stopped eating throughout the day. She's completely potty trained and would just stop going. It broke my heart everyday but I now know it was the facility and not just her adjusting to a daycare setting. She is enrolled in a new school and is thriving. And back to her normal happy self. I hope this helps, I tried to be as honest as possible and this may be the right place for some kids but it definitely wasn't the right place for mine.
