Needed a leak under the sink fixed and ended up turning down the service and paid the service fee, for what, I guess to listen to a sales pitch. Definitely wouldn't recommend Total Plumbing and will never use them again. I hired them to fix a gas leak on the pipe from the meter to the coupling before it goes underground. Oncor detected the leak, shut off the gas, and told me to get it repaired. Total Plumbing replaced the pipe and performed a pressure test. I mentioned that the Oncor tech said a small repair might not need a city inspection. They finished the job and told me I could call Oncor to restore service. The next morning, Oncor told me the inspection had not been done or passed. I called Total Plumbing, and they sent the same tech back out. When I asked why the inspection wasn't done the first time, he said he was relying on what I was told by Oncor. A licensed plumbing company working in Rowlett should know the city's gas inspection requirements -- not rely on second hand info from a homeowner. Because they didn't follow proper procedure, I was charged an additional $375 for a second trip to perform the inspection-related testing. This wasn't new work; it was correcting their own oversight. This raises serious concerns about their knowledge of city regulations and industry standards. They made an excuse to justify another service call and charged me for something that should have been done the first time. read more

In my opinion, this company does bad work. I would not recommend them for large projects. I hired this company for a complete re-plumbing of my house. During the work, they drilled through a 2x4 used as blocking in my coffered ceiling to run PEX, which I later discovered was broken. No one notified me of this, I found it myself. At the time the work began, no permit had been pulled with the city, which I also discovered and brought to the company's attention. When I asked a company supervisor why no permit had been pulled, he told me that permits are not typically pulled for large jobs because of the time and cost involved. I ended up having to find a structural engineer to inspect the framing and provide a letter before the city would close the job. To the company's credit, I think they paid for the inspection. With a cold weekend coming up, I recently went into the attic to add insulation around the most vulnerable pipe runs. It appeared that the plastic tabs on much of the foam PEX insulation tubing (used to close the tubing) had not been removed, leaving the insulation open-faced. I spent an entire day crawling through the attic, taping the insulation closed myself and adding extra insulation. read more

There service was egregious in my opinion.They Charged $120 to come out. I had some broken pipes in the basement and wanted $5,000 to fix them and they said this would not be a permanent fix that they would have to come back all the time. I paid the $120 and felt robbed! I had the pipes fixed with another firm for $1,000 and they did a good job. I wished I had never called total Plumbiñg and I wonder about these good reviews I understand you can buy good reviews on line. read more

I made an appointment for Thursday, December 28, 2023. I was guaranteed that someone would be out between 12 pm and 5 pm. Around 3 pm no one had called so I called Total Plumbing. I was told that the technician was running behind and would be there by 5 pm. 5 minutes later I get a phone call that the technician could not make it and I would have to reschedule. I wasted a whole day waiting. The good thing is I found 2 other companies that came out and quoted me a fair price for a leak behind my bathroom wall. Going forward, I will give them my business and NEVER recommend Total Plumbing to anyone. read more

This is my second experience with Total Plumbing, and it was as satisfactory as the first one. So far all of the Company's representatives, including those with whom I've spoken on the telephone, have been pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Bonus, the guys that came out here to do the work didn't once complain about me asking more questions that I've a right to. :) Today's plumbers, Evan (a young licensed plumber who is obviously on his way up!) and Jacob (his apprentice), echoed the professionalism and efficiency of the plumbers from the first visit. Raul, who I believe is a Master Plumber, and Cenyen, his apprentice, repaired a hot water slab leak in May 2022 that took some extensive knowledge and effort to complete. In addition to those exceptional qualities, they were all pleasant, engaging, quick at their work, focused, and dedicated to doing their jobs well. I purchased a service agreement during the first visit which has already saved me the cost of the agreement, and provides other perks, as well. Ask them about it. It might be worth your money, too. If you have to fork over $$$ to repair things that aren't seen (but that have an incredible affect on your life!), Total Plumbing is the way to go. The estimate over the phone was a bit lower than what I was charged on site even though the services were not changed from the phone call conversation to the actual visit. Two weeks ago, I was informed by my landscaper that my front yard was flooded. I called my regular plumber and unfortunately, he had hurt his back and was not working. So, I started going through all the plumbers who were recommended on Next Door and my friends. The only one available to come that day was Classic Plumbing (I wish I had shut off my water and waited). They sent a newbie whose first reaction was to start digging my front yard in an attempt to find the main line. After couple of hours of digging and not finding it, I pointed him to look behind the hedge in the box and see if that gave him a clue, which of course it did. Five more hours of digging and having to get his boss over the next day, he supposedly fixed the outside leak for over 1000.00. Then he said there was a leak, water coming from under the house which they would have to dig under, which they would do starting at 4000.00, and after 4 feet, every extra foot would be 500.00 more. I told him I had to get second opinions to make sure this was fair. He said his boss/John would call me later to discuss it. I called Robert, my regular plumber who said it was very high and encouraged me to call others. Total Plumbing was the only one who had someone able to come the next day to find the inside leak. The night after my front yard flooded again. Come to find out the Classic guy not only didn't fix the leak the work he did had caused two more leaks on the outside (later John said if I had called them, they would have fixed it, however, until I was able to get another plumber in to do the work, I wouldn't have known it was the damage their person had caused). Total plumbing came the next day, find the leak quickly, using their detection instrument which cost 300.00. They told me they could drill from outside to get to the inside leak and gave me the estimate of 1750.00. However, I had to wait several days, which because of continued outside leak I had to shut off my water. The next Tuesday, they were there on time, in one day they not only fixed my inside leak. They also fixed the outside leak caused by the other plumber tech and did not charge me any extra, just the initial estimate of 1750.00. Folks, I can't say enough about the Total Plumbing people (Joe, Tim and I think James and Marco). They were caring, professional and easy to talk with. They answered the phone every time I called them half panicked (think about six times). They are absolutely the best people/plumbers, I have ever dealt with! Sorry for the length, but I hope this will help anyone who is looking for a descent and honest plumber! They will be the only ones I will call for my Plumbing issues! read more

We had a terrible smell in the two downstairs bathrooms and was at my wits end. I was unsure what the source was. I called Total Plumbing since they had done good work replacing the main water line earlier this year. They fit me into the schedule the next day. The plumber called 30 minutes ahead and showed up right on time with an assistant. They did a smoke test to try to find the source. There were no leaks detected, but they didn't give up. These young men continued to look for the source of the odor. They investigated thoroughly and located and removed a dead squirrel from an exhaust vent. The valves going to my washer were frozen open so I had no way to turn off the water so I could get a new machine. I called 2 other plumbers who quoted me hundreds of dollars and said they'd have to tear open my wall and replace the whole box. As a last ditch effort I called Total Plumbing and they guy told me all I needed was the valves unscrewed and new ones screwed back on. He came out and did that for next to nothing plus showed me how to do it myself net time so I can save that much more money.
