Multiple encounters with poor service. The gals don't appear to be very knowledgeable as well as untrustworthy. Such as moving items to different locations behind the counter and office before purchasing items to buy. Thus not getting paid for item. After leaving the shop I realized and had to return to store to collect money owed for item taken into their office prematurely before transaction was complete. Typically all items that are being considered for purchase be left on the counter in front of both the seller and buyer until transaction is completed. Also wasting my time as well as theirs in purchasing items that one owner likes but the other owner doesn't like after looking up items for their value and then not buying items because one owner isn't in agreeance with the other. They need a better system in regards to this type of buying process as to not waste everyone's time when end result was not to buy. While one owner admires the craftsmanship of an item of being that of high quality and another owner claiming it's cheaply made when clearly it's a designer piece with designers signature on item. ​​​Their own staff isn't even on the same page and isn't knowledgeable about what they are speaking about. I like the furniture I got. When I was checking out I had left my wallet in my car and went to get it. The employee condescendingly said "I can't believe she forgot her wallet"...my friend was still standing there. I would take the criticism if it was justified but there was no line, I had just bought hundreds of dollars of items and I'm a nice customer because I know working retail is hard. Huge selection of various types of items. Lots of furniture, from antique to mid-century. And none of it was 'crap', even if it was not my style it was still good quality. Very fair prices. New stuff coming in constantly, appears to be good turnover. One of gals who works there, Kathy (or Kathlene?), is especially helpful, knowledgeable, and never pushy, so watch for her. Ok, so the store is cute and they have amazing things, but the staff... that's where things go bad. Second to last time I was there, a customer was speaking bad about homosexuals and the cashier was entertaining the conversation. The last time I was in there, I was in there for 30 mins without a mask and then upon checkout the lady was like you need to put a mask ok. I offered to show my vaccine card, but she said nothing. First, approach the customer nicely and offer a mask. I told her I was in the store for 30 mins and you are not noticing, it's bad for loss prevention. She told me I can leave, so I did. Such a shame, I wish so badly to support a small business, but with a bad attitude like that I'll go back to corporate owned places who invest time in training their employees. read more

T & F always has many many tempting things, beautifully displayed, and constantly changing. (I love a vintage shop that has something new to see Every. Single. Day.) Lots of really good art, mid mod furniture, cool decorative items, clothing, jewelry, records, old photos... the list goes on. What's on offer shows that the proprietors have keen eyes for both quality and style--they just don't bring in things that aren't worthy of the shop. The prices are amazingly fair, and the shopkeepers are unfailingly kind and real to customers, and are true friends to me. I make a stop nearly every week. We were in town for college stuff and enjoying exploring antiques/treasures in Spokane. This is by far one of all time favorite finds! Hubby fell in love with elderly gentleman that appeared to be owner and master pocket watch repairman, I loved all the unique items and how well everything was displayed. Classy items, retro/modern too. Bought pocket watch, knife, garden cherub, leather tote and ladies outdoor sandals, and sterling ring. Jewelry displays lovely. I stopped by this store as I was in the process of trying to help someone who was considering getting rid of some very nice antique European furniture, and didn't know where to turn. This store had good reviews, so I made it one of my stops. Since I don't deal in these things, I was hoping to find out if this stuff had a market, did they buy, did they consign, and if we wanted to pay, who would they recommend as a licensed appraiser? I do not know if the individual was an employee or owner, though I'm tempted to think the latter. Very quickly the assumption was made that I was looking for some type of free appraisal, which I wasn't, nor do I think they were licensed appraisers anyway. Very quickly and somewhat rudely and unprofessionally I was told that was the end of what they'd do for me. I was a bit taken aback. I want to believe it was a misunderstanding, though even if it was, it was not a professional way to interact. It would have been very easy to say, "We aren't in a position to do what I think you're asking, but if you are interested in selling, here's my card," or "Thanks for thinking of our business. If you're looking for an official appraisal, it will cost $xx.xx/item, and we can/can't do that, but here's who I'd recommend you see" or something similar. Businesses thrive on good communication, bringing a customer onto your side, and providing service even if you can't come through with what the customer wants. In this case, I was merely looking for direction in an area I knew nothing about--antiques--which seemed to be entirely their niche. They could have provided me nothing but goodwill, and I would have left positive. I hope it was a misunderstanding or bad day. But it was a turnoff. I went to several other antique stores, and they expertly and professionally offered the variety of ways I might dispose of this furniture, and the way or ways they would be interested. Where they couldn't, they gave me expert recommendations on other businesses and several licensed appraisers. And if I ever need antique services or want to sell something, those will be businesses I'd return to, even if they didn't offer top dollar, because they offered top-notch customer service. And, they were the kind of places I could feel comfortable recommending someone to go to and know they'd be treated honestly and professionally. The interaction was a disappointment. read more

It seems like I was hittin' up every vintage/antique store on Monroe and was excited I had time to come in here. Tossed & Found had lots of good stuff when I came in - it's weird that I walked out empty-handed. But here's why: I came in as a couple other patrons were on their ways out. The employee said good-bye to them. I didn't get a greeting or anything but no big deal. I continued to walk around and check things out. They had really cute small planter pots. The employee was busy cleaning and whatnot. There were a few antique keys that caught my eye so I stood at the case for a good few minutes just looking, made my way to another case... still nothing from the employee. I ambled to the back of the store where she was when another (assumed) employee walked in. They continued to chat as I walked around them and then walked to another area of the store. A customer called and I kind of tuned out of the part of the convo I could hear. But after the employee hung up, she said, "I'm so tired of that shit." Ha. Well then...I know everyone has their bad days, especially in any kind of customer service job. It's tough dealing with customers. But you have to maintain a level of professionalism and be careful of the language and words you choose to use. That was neither classy nor professional. I'm not sure why neither employee never spoke a word to me. Perhaps it's because I look super young and they didn't take me seriously as a customer. Perhaps it's the color of my skin (it happens and yes I take notice). If I really needed help I would've asked. I just wanted to see how long it would take before one of them said hi or anything else to me. Another patron walked in a few minutes before I decided to head out. The employee greeted him and offered him help. The next time I come in I just hope that employee is not working. It was almost a crime to not buy anything from T&F. But that day I decided was not a day I would give them business. read more

Tossed & Found is a gem of a Vintage store. The owners know what to look for and price things extremely reasonably. John and his wife Gayle have given my husband and I personal attention multiple times in finding what we were looking for and we now have items in our home we will treasure for a long time to come. We love the mutual appreciation for historical design and the fun of seeing what new treasures they have brought in! My mom purchased milk glass at an excellent value -- priced better than most places we've found across the country. Most items in the store were in very very good shape.
