Toshi Auto Smog - Toshi Auto - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Torrance, California

Toshi Couldn't Ask for Better Service! I don't usually leave reviews, but this shop really deserves one. I've taken my cars here for years and so many times until now, and every single visit has been a great experience. The owner himself and his team are super friendly, honest, and they actually take the time to explain what's going on with your car instead of just throwing random charges at you. They fixed an issue another shop couldn't figure out, and my cars have been running perfectly ever since. My unforgettable experience was when my car had emission problem and this shop was able to solve the issue. The prices are fair, the service is fast, and you can tell they really care about their customers. It's rare to find that kind of trust and quality these days. I always recommend this expert and friendly auto shop to friends and relatives. Sent from iPhone read more

Nice people, very professional, seems to be a very popular place. Many customers that day I would definitely use their services again.

Smog test experience went very well. Toshi uses a bay all the way over to right (closest to entrance) in the Auto Bay. Got me in and out very efficiently. Quick and painless as they say. Referred me to a safety recall on my vehicle as well. They apparently scanned the smog test results directly to dmv because 2 hours later I renewed registration without needing to provide any info about the test. Im bringing my Suburban back next month when it's due for the same smog exam. read more

Honest, knowledgeable, sweet and friendly. Had an issue with check engine light and checked it out and helped to fix problem. About a week prior to coming to him to get second opinion I was quoted $275-350 to fix some supposed problem when there was no issue at all. Thank you read more

I thought I left a review when I visited Toshi's Auto Smog last month, nevertheless, my recent visit was not my first. I've been taking my vehicle to Toshi since his shop was located off Artesia & Western, in Gardena. I was able to get a smog check without making an appointment and did not have to wait long for the smog check to be completed. Toshi gets straight to work on the smog check. I've not experienced any issues with either Toshi or his service. Professional service and no nonsense. BTW, Toshi, I believe, took over this business from the original owner, who was recommended by John at Shige's Premier Auto Service several years ago. Only one issue I have with Toshi Auto Smog is the location, not much space to park your vehicle if you have to wait for a smog check. Otherwise, everything else is just fine. Cost is reasonable. I don't know what the cost for a smog check by other shops, so $60 seems fair to me. read more

I needed a catalytic converter for my Camry Hybrid. Lots of places I went I was told that they are very expensive or they couldn't find one for my car. I called Toshi he was on the list from the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair). I called others they didn't answer on a Saturday. Toshi answered told me to bring my car in. He looked at our role me to come back the following Monday; by Wednesday my car was done and passed smog. The staff is friendly and helpful! read more

Have been going to Toshi for years. He's very reliable , knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!!!

With the first chance I got to get a smog check, checked out four different locations in a raining Sunday afternoon and only one local place was open... Toshi Auto Smog. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We struck up a conversation about hybrid and electric vehicles while getting my new car a smog check. Great prices and have you in and out in no time at all. read more

Smog check handled in 10 minutes. Efficient, a reliable neighborhood favorite, plus - Toshi is freaking adorable. Give him your money. He will do honest, good things for your car. read more

Toshi Auto Smog - Toshi style! - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Torrance, California

My Honda Civic 2016 vehicle check engine light popped on. What time is it? Oil change time! Living in the Lomita area, driving to Gardena is a breeze. I inquired in person if they do oil changes. Assumed they only conducted Smog testing. The Japanese gentleman Davy-san replied with yes. Efficient and easy. The job was completed. Happy to have been a patron of Toshi's. I will be back for any further work on my vehicle. The price was extremely reasonable compared to other businesses. Domo arigato! :) read more

Toshi Auto Smog - April 2019. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Torrance, California

Came here on 12/31 for a Smog Check and was in and out. Toshi was great and very nice! Definitely coming back again.

Jorge is very professional. He examined my car before ran the smog check just to make sure my car was ready for it. Turned out the O2 filter was not and needed to be reset by driving on the freeway for 20+ min. I planned to drive on the freeway right away, so I could have my smog check complete ASAP. However, I haven't driven my car since Covid, so my tire pressure was low. Toshi San went out of his way and helped me fill the air in all 4 tires without charge me. He was extremely nice and generous, I just can't thank him enough. Long story short, I came back and passed the smog check. My appreciations to Jorge and Toshi san. I will be back for another smog check. :) :) read more

Toshi was friendly and patient. He understood what we needed. He was working with another car when we came in but he got to us right after. The smog check service was quick and easy. Will come to again. read more

I've driven by this place for years, seeing the sign from Artesia Blvd, decided to stop by around 10 AM on a whim today. It is a little tricky to find the spot but it is located towards the back on the car wash side, there is a sign with his shop name. I believe I met the owner when I went, a very informative older gentleman. He asked me some questions before we just hooked up the car and potentially wasted my time. Very happy about that. Was in and out of there in less than 30 minutes, paid cash, will definitely be coming back. read more

Toshi is a very nice man. He quickly went to work on the smog check for my car. Everything was finished in about 15 minutes. Great experience! read more

For years we have trusted Toshi to do diagnostics, repairs, and smog checks on all our family's cars. We have recommended him to our friends. He is skilled, efficient, good-humored, kind, and friendly. His shop is a mainstay in the community. He's got all the right equipment to analyze all sorts of problems and fix them. He answers all questions and explains patiently. If you want quality work at a reasonable price, see Toshi. I just got my car smog checked today for $50. The whole process took just twenty minutes. Toshi filed all the paperwork and gave me the certificate to send to the DMV. Note that Toshi is normally very busy but he will usually take walk-ins. He doesn't take coupons. read more

This is my first time here and had a great experience. He explained to me the process of the smog check and the options, since it wasn't going to pass. Once everything was taken care of, my smog passed. Excellent service! read more

Always take my care there owner technician is great provides quick service and is polite and knowledgeable.

Came here and received the worse service from Toshi. Bryan however was kind enough to explain to me what happened with the smog check and why it did not "pass" when it clearly said that it was not ready. After explanation I wish Toshi would have asked if I've been driving around which I have not so therefore the car wasn't ready. I ended up having to pay $40 for the inspection only to be told it would cost me $50 to retest which isn't right because at every place I've been the retest are free. Never again will I come back. read more

Toshi is friendly and efficient. Didn't have to wait long at all. I'll be back next time I need a smog check.

Very happy with the quick and efficient service. I had a lot of difficulty getting the monitors to clear in order to get my vehicle to pass smog, and needed more diagnostics. Multiple trips to dealer and local smog shop here in Hollywood offered no additional help. Toshi and his team were able to diagnose the issues and got my issue solved and finally was able to pass smog. Thank you! read more

These guys are amazing. I went to international auto smog, and they were closing. Jorge, the guy who owns the place made a call to Toshi and they decided to stay open long enough for me to come in and get my car smog checked. This was way after they were closed too. In and out in less then 15 minutes. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND these guys. Very courteous and polite. Thank you so much for your service. read more

Came here for a Star Certified Smog Check, the shop is more toward the middle back of the plaza. Saw the man Toshi himself. He's very fast and speaks to the point. I brought the papers like he asked and he did his business. He informed me that my car passed the smog check, but that there was an emission related recall my car had to do and told me the dealership would be able to take care of it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to my family if they were in the Gardena area. read more

Toshi is great! Service was quick. He is very pleasant and we even shared a few laughs. I took my car here for smog - he is STAR CERTIFIED! Thank you, Toshi! read more

I brought my car shortly after clearing trouble codes from memory, which wasn't necessary because the check-engine light was off, and was a naive mistake on my part. This puts the vehicle in a "not ready" state and it can't be emissions tested. For the smog tester they can tell this was done immediately by scanning the car. They can ask you to drive around the block a few more times to try to put the vehicle's computer in a ready state (which I did and worked). Instead they failed my car, insisted on charging me over $40 on the spot (for plugging in a scanner), told me I needed to drive 100 miles and bring it back for an additional $30 to complete the test. After I drove around the block (under 5 miles) to a different smog tester, the vehicle was in a ready state and I passed immediately. Additionally the other tester checked the status of my car before charging me! Won't be using Toshi again. read more

Friendly fast service and affordable : ) if you need a smog test Toshi is the spot .

Just got my car Smog last week. I have been coming here for years. Very quick and price is great $50. Great service.

My car failed the smog check at another place, and I was recommended to see Mr. Toshi to check it out. Mr. Toshi is very friendly and experienced. He fixed my car, and my car passed the smog check. I highly recommend he to anyone. read more

Fast, convenient, affordable and friendly. Can't ask for more with a smog check. Thumbs up!

I was in the Gardena area today to visit an auto repair shop a friend recommended. It was located in the same auto repair complex as Toshi's Auto Smog. I recently received my DMV renewal notice and needed a smog check. I happened to see Toshi's shop. So I stopped in and he told me to bring my car in. They were very nice and answered all questions. My car passed smog and now I'm a happy camper. I'm glad I stopped by Toshi's shop this morning. I highly recommend them. read more

Recently bought a Groupon voucher ($25 for $50 test) and went to Todhi Smog the same day. Car was already on the rack when Toshi himself approached me and told me his business does not accept ANY coupon, he pointed to the wall board and showed me a hand written note confirming they do not accept Groupon vouchers or any coupons ( I took a picture of it). He insisted on getting $75 on top of the $25 I paid to Groupon. We settled for $50 so I ended up paying a total of $75 instead of the $25 (plus cost of certificate) that Groupon was peddling. I am disputing both charges and have prevailed on one so far. I have also alerted the BBB about Groupon's illegal practice of selling, taking our money and not delivering the service! Be aware of both businesses !!! read more
