Toscano is one of those Salamanca gems. It's been here for ages and if you happen to pass but this part of town, it's a must stop. It's mostly regulars, people in suits and ready for work. It gets busy around 10:30 when the whole working works stops to tomar algo.
The churros are great, but my favorite here is a breakfast of tosta con jamón and a café con leche. 4 euros for a huge slice of bread that is smeared in tomato covered in jamón.
It's a great way to start your Salamanca day!
PS On a side touristic note, if you can go to the iglesia redonda right next door, please do. 11th century church. It's not open much, but it's a tiny treasure and feels so unique after seeing so much big grandeur. read more
