Last night in Salamanca. The hotel made reservations and recommended Casa Paca as a traditional Salamancan restaurant. Started with the Parrillada de verduras del día, con suave salsa romesco (mixed grilled veggies)z. Simple but real good with a hint of salt. The romesco felt a little understated but still good overall. I ordered the Parrillada de verduras del día, con suave salsa romesco (beef chop for one) as my entree. The beef chop was medium rare just as I ordered. It was solid with good consistency. The salt was simple on the preparation, it was over salted just a tad. The service was fine but not as engaging as our other experiences. We dined inside because of the heat, not overcrowded on a Saturday night with decent mood music. Solid visit. read more

Terribly disappointed. Food cooked improperly and unevenly (think extra-rare pork). Unappealing presentation. Snotty waitstaff. Very expensive and definitely you do not get What you pay for. To top it off, they charged us for bread- that we did not ask for and assumed it was complimentary when brought to the table. Avoid at all costs - there are lots of good restaurants in Salamanca to choose from. read more

Came here with the group that I came with to take a summer class abroad. The food was great, the appetizer salad, croquetas, and the main course. I got the smoked salmon and it is the best salmon I've ever had. My reason for the 4 stars was for the staff. Our waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Didn't greet us, seemed bothered when we asked her for wine or water or just anything in particular. The dessert was amazing as well. We got a little taste of it all. My favorite was the strawberry ice cream and their tiramisu. read more

Classical / typical restaurant experience, reservations recommended, open late and for lunch close for siesta . Suckling pig is recommended to eat in Salamanca and here it was tasty ( the two of us shared one my husband essentially was pleased with it ) , tomatoes salad was fresh, Rioja red was excellent ( didn't remember which one unfortunately,) and traditional Salamanca desert with apple cake and ice cream . Servers didn't speak English , but they were quietly professional. On the pricey side in terms of value. read more

A Very good location (a few steps from plaza mayor) but unfortunately a poor service. The food was ok and it is better to ask for tapas in instead if raciones beacise of the price and quantity. The pinchos (1.7 euros) were good too but once again I hate yo leave my money in bars with waiters and waitress complaining abiut everything and do not listening the customer. In my ipinion, and I am a spaniard, it is not very difficult to listen to the customer and satisfy him. Apart from that some other mistakes like serving empanada de atun in instead of empanada de bacalao. It is a pity beaciae the place was warming and very central however we do not think we will back. read more

This place was awesome, even for a non-Spanish speaking tourist like me. I sat at the tapas bar and basically just pointed at things. The gentleman behind the counter was incredibly nice, and we were able to communicate with each other enough that I had 4 awesome tapas and a beer for only 7 euros! Much better experience than paying 3 times that to eat at plaza mayor. Black pudding is great, also the empanada with cheese. Highly recommend. read more

Absolutely the largest selection of tapas in Salamanca! My personal favorite is the marinated bonito. Very difficult to not find a tapa you will like here. read more

We had a few tapas for lunch at their tapas bar at the back of the restaurant. The place was packed with locals and tourists. The food was great, we had ribs, jamon, tortas and had tinto de verana to drink. But be ready to try and elbow your way to the bar, locals love the place so expect to fight for the waiters attention to get your order. Tapas were 1.50 euros and drinks at 2 euros. From a glass covered bar just point to the waiter the tapas you like and stand on the bar and enjoy! read more

One of the few places we found open for dinner at 8pm. Reviews were mixed and so was our experience. Food was quite good - duck with chef's sauce tasty but small portion. My wife enjoyed her salmon. Service was slow and staff inattentive. Also shared same experience of another reviewer - they tried very hard to add on to our selection of only a main course and weren't as receptive to us when they found we weren't going to spend more. read more

This is one of the best tapas places on the Alameda de Hercules. Good service, good food, reasonable prices. A great place to sit outside and watch the kids playing in the plaza. Not for gourmets, but a great every day place for good tapas. read more

Asked for their "Plate of the Day" that includes drink and dessert. They pointed to a "Beef Stew" offered that day. When the check came, they charged me for everything and denied that they told me all was included. The "Beef Stew" was the biggest plate of pig fat that I ever saw. It was so disgusting. Disappointing. Unusually, we had our hotel book a table for us and our dogs (usually we walk the streets and find something). The restaurant welcomed us warmly, and ushered us to an outside table (no dogs inside in Spain) and were very nice - so far so good, in fact very good. But it soon became clear that they were only interested in whether we would be spending a lot: we were pressed to buy a bottle of wine (by the glass was not offered, though available); when we went straight for a main course they pressed us to take a salad too. And on the back of the menu it said "minimum one entree per person". So they soon lost interest in us when they recognised we were not high rollers (despite coming from a fancy hotel) and whipped the menu away before we'd finished ordering. The food was ok, but not outstanding. In fact the meat we ordered as medium came as rare and had to go back and be cooked some more. It came back as "well done" but was medium i.e. still very red inside. The steaks were Euros 25 and 27 - quite a lot. Definitely felt like we were in a tourist trap. read more
