This place just never gets old--ok, that's stupid since it's older than dirt! But my goodness, the best views in Salamanca and amazing pinchos. Just drop everything and find a way to get to Cervantes--and then do your best to relax and enjoy. I tend to do pinchos American style--eat drink hurry, next! Slow down, turn left and go to the adjoining room since the one overlooking the plaza is a dining room during the dining hours. And just soak it in!

Solomillo de ternera con pimientos padrone, tomate and roasted garlic bits on top. Authenticity, hospitality, amabilidad what you find when you get away from bigger cities in Spain. This jewel of a restaurant is located in Salamanca's plaza mayor. You would think in such a tourist intense place you would not find such a good food and authenticity. Mistaken! The portion looked too much of a food to have for lunch. I asked for media ration. The waiter said we don't normally do it but we will fulfill your wish :-). What a happy ending it was. I also ordered a glass of tinto de verano. With a happy stomach and a buzzed cabeza, ready to walk on the old capital of Spain "El imperio donde nunca se pone el sol". Must visit a place when in Salamanca!

Amazing customer service experience. Was sat down quickly and served quickly. Excellent place to eat if your looking for something a little different en el plaza mayor.

Good quality-price rate as well as fast. Perhaps a bit noisy.

I was a bit hesitant because it is centrally located (in plaza mayor) and I was worried it would be a tourist trap.

(We fed five for less than €100 - note: no appetizers or alcohol and just one dessert) Vegan options at the time of this review: Quinoa and veggie soup Seasonal salad Veggie tartar (veggies, lime, ginger, avacado) Hummus and pita Moroccan-style tabouleh Rissoto w/zucchini Veggie (fried) spring rolls w/orange sauce Thai-style noodles and veggies And... The veggie burger (with carrot sauce) We ordered a single order of bread to start (€1) and also got two little shots of spiced garbanzo soup with it. We heard the server make sure it was vegan before she brought it. Tasty and a warm welcome on a cold day. I'd order a whole bowl of it if I saw it on the menu. Our server recommended the rissoto - an excellent choice. It's made with wheat and a creamy sauce, with zucchini and carrots mixed in. Portion size was perfect. If you can't tell in the photo - it's a pretty thick cylinder! Overall - impressed with the food quality and the service. Vegans rejoice. If you're eating with non-vegans - everyone will be happy!

Instead they have done a modern yet tasteful look with branding that I love. We visited on a Thursday evening and after spending a few days in Salamanca soon understood why El Pecado wasn't doing a roaring trade. It was quite expensive compared to it's competitors. Now I understand what they are trying to do... what they are 'trying' to do, is be a 'fine dining' establishment and this is reflected in the prices and the presentation of the food. Now they are not quite a fine dining restaurant but this does not mean that they aren't doing lots of things right. The food we had was great. Not fantastic but certainly delicious and I enjoyed every part of my meal. I particularly loved the prawns I had as a starter and would definitely recommend them. The service we had was also very good. Maybe a little slow considering there was only one other table, but still I left satisfied that our waitress had attended us well and with a smile. Overall, I would recommend this place to eat... but I would suggest having the set menu at €25 for 3 courses as that would seem much better value than our bill which I thought was far too steep.

We asked a local couple if they could recommend a restaurant with good local food, not a tourist…read morerestaurant, and they said they themselves were on their way to a very good family-run restaurant with "comida casera", home-made food. They showed us the way since it was a bit hard to explain from where we were. It turned out to be three short blocks from Plaza Mayor, the heart of the Old Town. Our improvised local guides recommended that we go with the menu of the day, which at 10.50 euros/person for a three course meal (first course, main course, dessert) also including bread and wine was a real bargain. The restaurant is clean and cosy. It opened 15 years ago and is run by three siblings: Ramon, a very friendly and helpful waiter, his brother, who is the main chef, and his sister, who is the pastry chef. We went with the menu of the day and had four choices for each of the first and main courses and even more choices for the dessert. For the first course we had a tasty Galician-style octopus dish served on a potato bed and salmorejo, which is a room-temperature creamy tomato-based soup served with diced Spanish ham and olive oil that had a good garlic kick. For the second course, we had two meat dishes: an extra-tasty roasted piglet and bull tail. For dessert, we had flan and a real smooth San Marcos cake, all home-made. I really recommend this place. It's such a find and they are so kind that I would love to see the owners do well and more of us enjoy it. It's closed Mondays. Lunch time runs through 4pm. Open for dinner too, of course.
