As life goes on, we become increasingly busy. So, when friends contact you to say it's been too long since we spent time together, you make plans to see one another. We decided to meet at Toscana's for cocktails. We arrived before the dinner crowd so we easily found a seat in the bar. Our server took our orders and proceeded to craft our cocktails. I ordered my go to drink which was well prepared. We ordered the flat bread as an appetizer to share which was very tasty. The service was great and the food and drinks were delicious. We were in the area, at an appointment and had never been to Toscana's Ristorante before. My favorite part of the meal was the soup. It was very flavorful! Regrettably, I chose to have the lasagna, which was on special for my main course. I have heard before on the radio suggesting NOT to have the special because it is older and something that the kitchen is trying to get rid of. I don't know if this was the case here, but it seemed like it to me, once it was brought to the table. It was pretty hard, dry, and lacking in flavor. Like I said in the beginning, I really enjoyed the minestrone soup. I also liked the bread, it had some herbs that tasted good. They have beautiful flowers in the front of the restaurant and I showed this, and the food in my photos. The restaurant was empty when we arrived until we left. They were about to close after lunch and before dinner. They said they would still serve us though, so we gave it a try! One major downside in my opinion was the waiter, who was mostly friendly during our visit, didn't bring us change at all. I thought it was rather presumptuous and rude to assume the whole amount included his tip. Next time, please ask if the customer needs change or at least bring it back, so the customer can decide for themselves. read more

Apparently there is new ownership. I've always liked Toscana's but the service can be sketchy. The restaurant is in dire need of a remodel. We went in the other day and the bathrooms are dated and not real clean. The interior of the restaurant is just blah. I remember when they first opened the decorations were really nice but that was the style back then. It was cold outside and very cold inside. I saw several folks ask to be moved because there was a draft or the AC was on. They moved to the atrium and it was warmer out there. My wife had the prime rib that had mushrooms on top. Little gem. We are on our way to Tahoe but my fiancé had to get blood work done and they were not open so we walked around and to our surprise found this little gem. The ambiance was great it's like you walked into another little world. We were greeted warmly right away. We opted for the soup of the day which was split pea and the French dip. We were also served yummy bread with a herb butter. The soup was nice and hot and delicious and the French dip was hearty with an abundant amount of meat. The flavors we're great and the bread was warm and soft. If you're looking for a delicious meal and great service then do yourself a favor and check them out! *chefs kiss* The service was absolutely wonderful... we spoke to Erica on the way out and she was super sweet. This is the second time over the past few years I have made reservations for their Mother's Day brunch because I wanted to stay in Turlock, and the past brunch was decent. This year will be the last time I try their brunch. Very disorganized from the time we checked in to having to ask for our check. Service was sporadic (at best). I even talked to a young girl clearing tables who said she didn't even work there, but was just "helping them out"??? The food/desserts offered were VERY sub par. Tri-tip was the meat offered at the carving station! I'd rather have carved ham or turkey if prime rib isn't an option. It is sad when the best tasting item offered is a pasta salad. The breakfast portion of the buffet honestly reminded me of a Holiday Inn Express. Next year I will head to the Fruityard where, despite a much higher price, I know the experience (especially the food) will be worth it. Extremely disappointed! read more

Went to two holiday parties in one week here. The first one, we had a large group and everything was set up ready to to. I ordered calamari, three cheese tortellini, berry margarita and a peppermint martini. The bread here is delicious! I can eat a whole loaf to myself! I loved that the three cheese tortellini came with a creamy pesto sauce. One reason I deducted a star is, at the next party I went to, someone ordered that same thing and it looked completely different. Was like a pool of sauce vs mine looked tossed in sauce. The second party was a smaller group. Wait staff was great! We ordered tons of appetizers for the table. I ended up getting a Ceasar salad and asked for salmon, but it came out with chicken. I'm not picky, so I just kept the chicken, but one of the other girls notified staff of the mistake. Thought I'd step out of my normal and was really pleased i did. While a little tricky to find the effort paid off. The restaurant was clean and had a relaxing ambiance for celebration or for a dinner date. The service personnel were great working together to see our needs were being met. Now the food: my Chicken Parmesan was delicious and filling the sauce was not acidic at all and was rich with flavor paired with the chicken. The Chicken Alfredo was to die for, creamy, rich and hearty. There were other appealing options we're definitely returning to try. Probably the best Minestrone soup I've ever had. Our $65.00 per person Mother's Day brunch was a nightmare. We arrived for our noon reservation and were seated. No wait staff ever came to our table to offer a beverage or water. Never! Service was terrible. The couple next to us had four used/dirty plates sitting on their table, for the entire time they were there. They finally told us to get our food, because the wait staff would never come. So, we did. So, the food. Omlette station. OK. potatoes were clearly frozen, bacon was good. Very good quiche bites. Then,an entire table of plates of ordinary looking sandwiches. Next table, one pasta and meatballs dish, that was it for pasta. It was very cold, and was a total mess with the serving tongs having dripped and spilled all over everything on the table. Very unappetizing. Then, on to french fries and I think chicken nuggets. Hard to tell because they were flat as a piece of paper, and stuck to the bottom of the serving dish. Hard as a rock. Oh well, who cares, probably just for the kids! There were nice green and pasta salads. There was some mediocre rice, and very delicious salmon and tri tip. Deserts were small bites, which were pretty good if u could get them. There were no plates! I asked a wait staff, who said, " there aren't any out here. Do u want some?" Well, yeah, I guess, or eat them with my hands. The kids were doing that! And, then I begged for water, and finally got some. The people sitting beside us with the dirty plates? They were begging for coffee. Never got it. The coffee carafe by the desert station was empty. So, they couldn't even serve themselves! So, I'd never go back Very poorly manages, over all very mediocre food, certainly not worth $65.00. I wouldnt recommend it. read more

This review is only based on the Mother's Day brunch. First off, our waitress was very friendly. That being said, service wasn't great. From what I could tell, I believe that's based on not enough servers for such a large crowd. It took her a while to come back for our drink refills. We had several used plates stacked on our table that were there for 20 minutes. At one point, the stack got to five plates at one part of our table and four on another (we had a large group). I ordered a coffee. It came in a nice coffee cup, but was very cold. It was obviously pre-poured and sitting out for a very long time. As for the food. The prime rib was delicious! They also had delicious ranch for the salad. Fruit salad and shrimp with cocktail sauce were good. They offered freshly made omelettes, but I didn't try one. French toast sticks, chicken Marsala, chicken strips and mashed potatoes weren't bad. Eggs Benedict were a huge disappointment. The heating container they were stored in was too hot. This cause the bread to be rock hard and the eggs to cook further. With this dish, the yolk should be runny. Today, it was fully cooked, like a hard boiled egg. They offered mini pizzas, but I believe they were the same mini pizzas you can buy at Costco. They had a good amount of dessert options, but again, they seemed store bought and not made there. We were all fairly certain the rice crispy treats were store bought. We felt the same about the muffins offered. Maybe the current economy issues was what made the food options needing to be store bought. But for the price we paid, I would expect food made at the restaurant. We joked several times that we should just buy stuff at the store and charge a huge price to feed people. They offer a discount for kids and seniors, which is nice. read more

Ok. So... first time here and I don't want to sound ungrateful.. but... atmosphere is one big room that was freezing cold. A few people tried to turn up the heat to make it cozy and it stopped at 69 degrees. We had a hard time getting help so took into our own hands as the box was literally right in front of us. My goodness... it was about 45 degrees outside already. When you go to a "higher caliber" restaurant with these prices.. I would expect to be able to take my coat off. absolutely ridiculous. we were in a party of 12 for a birthday celebration. I took a few pics of what people were eating around me. Presentation was nice. Server was fine but hard to find at times because she was busy. My lobster ravioli was fishy ($32!!) It seemed like they were trying to cover that with soo much sauce that I actually thought I ordered soup. One steak was over cooked. One was undercooked and one was ok. I heard all 3 gentleman say med. rare and double checked with server if that was the way to order to have it pink inside. it took forever to get food. and.. it trickled out at different times. I mean like a 10 minute interval. The last dish served was salmon which by all rights should have been out before steaks. I must express my disappointment with this restaurant. While its appearance was quite impressive, the lack of customers was a clear indication of something amiss. The quality of the food we received confirmed our suspicions. I opted for the fettuccine and meatballs, only to discover that the meatballs were undoubtedly frozen and not made in-house. This was a major letdown. Furthermore, the pizza with pepperoni failed to meet even basic expectations in terms of taste and quality. Our order of the Shrimp Louie Salad was yet another letdown, as the dressing lacked flavor and the shrimp appeared to have been sourced from a can. My husband and I came in on Saturday and we did not have a reservation. It was super busy, but we were able to get sat within 5-10mins. The seafood risotto and lobster ravioli were exceptonal. We ordered the calamari, the petite capresse salad, the chicken Alfredo, the seafood pasta, salmon on cedar and the ciopino, apologies for the spelling mistakes. Out the door $164. The capresse salad was great, in addition to the traditional basil, tomato, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze, they add a bit of pesto sauce. Would get this again. The calamari is good, well made but didn't stand out to me too much more than a calamari from something like Olive Garden (perhaps the deep fry process uses fresher oil due, since the fried exterior looked very "clean"). All entrees are very generous helping, definitely enough for 2 people or for an extra meal when you get home. Ciopino was extremely good, it comes with a generous serving of risotto. I would come back to get this, despite the ~$30 price tag. The salmon on cedar was cooked perfectly, still super moist inside. The cedar imparted almost a maple syrup type of flavor to the salmon. This may taste strange to some (as the salmon is almost a bit sweet due to the cedar plank). But oh man, the salmon was cooked so beautifully! The chicken Alfredo and the seafood pasta was unfortunately made very poorly; it was as if all the salt that should have gotten into the Alfredo went into the seafood pasta; we were pretty disappointed. At around 30 dollars per entree, we definitely expected better for these two dishes. I really would like to come back for the ciopino, but am a bit worried about consistency due to the experience with the other two entrees. Service was good, I like the cute "reserved table" placards and the fact that they help you box Togo. The staff that refills water is super attentive. read more

We had reservations for my mom's birthday and what was to be her special day was not so special, our food was ok, fries were so salty, portion were small for price we paid , rice was bland, but most of all the service was horrible and it was so disappointing, our waiter did not seem like he wanted to be there. Never really checked in on us and had to ask for refills for all our drinks every time. He made us feel like we were a burden, and he did not deserve the $40 gratuity tip he automatically got. Man has this place gone down hill. We use to come here quite often, and recently we decided to go there for dinner on a Saturday. It wasn't busy at all like it use to be, maybe 4 other tables along with us. They had 1 server on duty. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and appetizers ordered once we finally got the servers attention. It took about another 20 minutes to get our meals ordered, it wasn't busy at all, but yet our food took about 45-50 minutes to come out, it looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while, the sauce on two out of four of our meals was dry from it sitting under the lamp. We were there for almost two hours and never got offered refills, we ordered drinks from the bar and had the server come by and ask us if we wanted refills we would've ordered more drinks from the bar. The manager was the upsetting sight to witness. We noticed her on her phone a lot, she hardly helped the server get things out to tables. We weren't the only ones who seemed upset about the long wait and our nonexistent server. And to make it even worse, we gave them another chance and ordered dessert..we sent it right back once we got the servers attention, it was an under cooked cookie skillet and I mean this thing was watery. She tried to argue that it was suppose to be that way because it's suppose to be gooey, it was runny. Finally she asked if we wanted to replace it and we did.
