    Chicken piccata
    Michele R.

Stopped in for lunch and ordered the chicken picatta. The service was great, very quick and attentive. The decor is ok but I think it's just such a large open space that it doesn't feel complete. The chicken picatta was decent but it was heavy on the cream and the chicken looked boiled. The salad came out very quickly and the salad dressing was perfect. They also offered garlic knots but I passed. I just didn't have enough room.

I will say that this is probably the best Italian food that I've eaten in a while. The service was amazing. I had ordered the Chicken Marsala and it's one of the best I've ever eaten. We got an order of fried calamari which came with a spicy marinara. They gave us garlic knots which is delicious. Everything was delicious. I did have a hair on one of the garlic knots. I will not go back to this establishment. Once I ate my leftovers I found hair in my leftovers. It's a shame because the food is good but finding the hair is a turn off.

Fettuccine Duchessa, Chicken Picatta, Caesar salad

Just had takeout, and it was quite good. Service was great; the food ready quickly. Started with a Caesar salad - fresh, but not at all a Caesar (tomatoes, mozz? Not sure what dressing was on it - but not a Caesar). BUT - no worries - the pasta entrees were the stars. My husband's chicken piccata fettuccine took 1st place - lemony, creamy, tender chicken. Yum. My pasta: fettuccine Duchessa - chicken, pancetta, mushrooms, peas all tossed in a tasty creamy sauce. Couldn't really find the pancetta - but the dish was still tasty. We didn't see that a small side salad came with our entrees - so we'll have those tomorrow. Garlic knots came with the meal, as well. They were hot, garlicky, and good. No dessert. REALLY excited to have a good Italian restaurant back in Yorktown (we come a couple times a year - so, can't wait to return to Toscana!)!

Large pepperoni calzone with amazing home made sauce! Great for dining in or take out.

Yuk. The only thing that was good were the garlic nots, salad, and pizza. The Alfredo tasted fishy. Found where they may use anchovies in Alfredo sauce. Yuk. That's why I tasted fish. Pizza is the best though.

This is a medium after my husband ate a piece.

Dine in is better than takeout. Salads are good. The rest of the menu is nothing special.

Good food, good portions, reasonable prices. I've only been once but will definitely be going back.

Unfortunately, over time the experience has slowly declined. Food quality: The seafood just isn't prepared with the same care it once was. Flavors feel less fresh, and the overall execution has slipped. Service: Staff used to be attentive and welcoming, but now service feels inconsistent and less polished. Presentation: Even the way dishes are plated has gone downhill, which takes away from the enjoyment of the meal. Highlights: Oyster nights are still fun, and I do enjoy trying new varieties when they're available. That tradition keeps me coming back occasionally. Consistency & value: As someone who has lived in Newport News for over 20 years and been a regular here, I look for consistency and good value. Sadly, Harpoon Larry's no longer delivers on those fronts. Overall, while Harpoon Larry's still has its moments, especially on oyster nights, it's hard to recommend it as a regular go-to spot anymore.

I wanted time to read the board and learn how they are operating due to covid. I loved their set up. You pull up, park and get out of your car to look at the whiteboard menu closer. Once you know what you would like, head to the door and knock. Someone will open the door and take your order. So simple! TIP: CASH AND CHECK ONLY! Today I had a sweet lady take my order and package it all up. She wore a mask the entire time, as so did we. She was helpful at showing us what a deviled crab looked like, and help explain other items. I really appreciate that she took the time to do that. It makes me want to come back and purchase more when businesses do that. There was also an older gentleman inside enjoying a crab cake sandwich. He had the biggest sweetest smile ever. He was a happy a can be with that sandwich, and I was definitely jealous! The crab cakes were delicious. I'm making something with the meat on Friday. Just not sure what yet. Another little bit of information, they have a restaurant that opened a few months ago. They have good food! It is just down the street near the Food Lion.

Used to be the best seafood in Hampton and Poquoson…read more We go here a few times a year for special occasions or just to splurge on what used to be a fantastic restaurant. The place is usually packed with people, but the restaurant was almost empty at dinner time. I could not figure it out until my meal was brought out to the table. It explained why the restaurant is no longer busy. Went tonight for my birthday and it was a big disappointment. I ordered the special Grilled Rockfish and Shrimp for $30.99. My friend ordered the crab cakes for $39.99. The rockfish and shrimp had so much salty and foul tasting red seasoning that the only taste was the seasoning. Rockfish is delicious and the only seasoning needed for cooking is some butter, lemon, salt and pepper. Why would any cook (I say cook because they do not have a chef) ruin delicious piece of fish like rockfish by completely covering the fish in some seasoning that is meant for crab boil. The only reason restaurants use heavy seasoning are when they want to cover the taste of seafood that is not fresh or they have cooks that do not know how to properly cook rockfish. I could not tell if the rockfish was fresh because the only thing I could taste was the seasoning that was caked on the fish in a thick coating like a dry rub on ribs. I took two bites of the very small 4 oz filet of rockfish and had heartburn and indigestion. The 6 shrimp were small 50/60 count and were rubbery with no flavoring except the seasoning. The rockfish meal was $30.99 and the only thing I can say is the broiled fish dinner at Captain Ds for $10 beats the meal at Surfrider hands down. My friend had the crab cakes which she said were very good. She could not eat the collard greens because she said they were so salty that they were not edible. The cucumbers in vinegar side was also unlike any cucumber salad I have ever tried and I don't mean that in a good way. Good service and ambience but that still does not raise the bar above 1 star. Probably not the worse seafood dinner I have ever had but it definitely is the worse dinner that I had spent $100 on.

We only waited about 15 minutes. But the view of the water made the wait enjoyable. The atmosphere was appropriate for a casual place. Lots of dark wood, a bar, booths and, I assume, faux copper ceiling tiles. We were seated in a high table near the window with a view of York River. Our server was great! She helped me make a choice of beer. The double IPA was citrusy which I like. I was torn between the fish tacos, a loaded baked potato with "famous" chili, or grilled crab sandwich. She said beyond a doubt get the tacos. She was so right! I love fish tacos. The Booming Tacos, an off-the-menu item, was over the top. I mean there was so much rockfish it was over the top of the grilled flour tortilla. The moist blackened fish pieces laid atop spring mix and drizzled with a creamy spicy boom boom sauce. My husband had the Rachel, a turkey sandwich on rye with Russian dressing and coleslaw, it came with french fries that seemed to have a bit of a coating that made them very crunchy. Everything was great. If ever back in the area, this will be the place to eat.

Their clam chowder was salty. And other than the fried seafood, it wasn't worth the cost. Need to remind ourselves this is tourist trap with bumped up prices for quickly made (and not properly seasoned) food. Major disappointment and a waste of $30 for a sandwich, fries and a cup of chili
