3.5 stars. Multiple…read moresources raved about La Casina Rosa, so we made it a must-go during our Dresden trip. Without reservations, we knew to go later in the evening (~9 PM), and luckily, we were able to get a table from a no-show. La Casina Rosa is a small place, no more than 10 or so tables. The ambience was comfortable and intimate, and with the wall painting of what looked like Tuscany, one could imagine having a decent Italian meal. The server was friendly but slow in attending us. We ordered a house salad, "Pizza Casina Rosa" (tomato, mozzarella, spinach, garlic, and parmesan), and "Tagliatelle alla Molisana" (lamb, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and rosemary). The food was nothing out of the ordinary, but it was delicious. I love the combination of Molisana. The unfortunate mishap came when our server completely forgot our salad. We could have forgone the salad, yet we still asked for it when our entrees came. Instead of bringing the salad during our meal, the server brought it after we finished our dishes. It was literally having salad as dessert. That was a first for me. After the salad, the server didn't come back to check on us for anything else, so after some time, we forwent the actual dessert, paid our bill, and left. Perhaps this place is overhyped or we just had an unusual experience.

Prices aren't too high and the restaurant was completelly full. We would recommend especially because it is outside of the touristic area and just nice to feel you eat like a local. Service was nice..no English though

I was greeted by a nice older gentleman who I think is the manager or the owner. He kindly ushered me in and greeted me with "Merry Christmas." The server made me feel special as I dined alone for a Christmas dinner. My instincts were to order the frutti di mari spaghetti which I sort of understand as being tomato sauce based and garlic with an assortment of seafood. The other part of it I just wasn't sure of even though the waiter tried to explain it to me kindly. I am so glad I ordered it as it was plain perfect. The pasta cooked perfectly to al dente, seasoned not too salty with plenty of good garlic sauce. It was not heavy--simple yet scrumptious! I couldn't be happier. I felt like I wanted to splurge so I asked for some dessert. The waiter recommended me his favorite. From what I could figure out, it was an ice cream ball with a layer of chocolate gelato and vanilla center covered in cocoa powder. When it came out, it was pretty much what I expected with some additional whipped cream and caramel sauce. Not too heavy, just sweet enough, and a great way to end the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal. Oh, and to top it off, the price was extremely reasonable for the quality of food, service, and live music! I may have to stop by Dresden again just for this meal! Thank you, and please... Don't change a thing!

Not the best quality, but satisfying. I've had worse for sure. The service was very good though. Our waiter was extremely nice. Personally I'd say try some more authentic food for the region. But this is a good alternative if you are getting tired of that type of food.

There is a chalkboard menu in German. They also have printed English menus available. Everything sounded really good to me. I settled on a pasta roll with "vegetable bread" that was served with chanterelle mushrooms. The description was odd and I didn't know what to expect. I even asked one of my traveling companions, a native German speaker, to translate the German menu item in case it just didn't translate well. I was thinking maybe it was seitan or a vegetarian "meat"loaf inside something like cannelloni? He translated it the same way. I ordered it partly out of curiosity and partly out of love for mushrooms. I'm glad I did. The dish is actually perfectly described. There is a bread-like filling with veggies in it, rolled up inside of a flat pasta and sliced. It was topped with chanterelles and salad greens. It was really good. My boyfriend ordered the campanelle with apples and gorgonzola and it was decadent and amazing. We visited in June so we sat outside. They have seating out front in addition to a patio in back. The space in back was full so we sat in front. It was pleasant enough. They had a nice wine list so I tried a Grauburgunder (apparently pinot grigio) at the recommendation of one of our traveling companions. I liked it. I could have happily eaten there again just to try other items on the menu but we had other places we wanted to try as well (and we're glad we did). This place is definitely worth a visit.
