That bright sign on Woodward isn't just a place to grab a dozen; it's part of the city's DNA. Growing up, my grandmother went there all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean ALL the time. Weekends, random afternoons, "just because" mornings -- Dutch Girl was the move. Some of my favorite childhood memories are walking in and being hit with that sweet, warm smell of fresh donuts and seeing the cases stacked with every kind you could imagine. It felt like magic as a kid. The donuts themselves? Classic, no-frills, done-right Detroit goodness. Soft, fresh, and generously glazed or filled -- the kind of donuts that don't try to be trendy or over-the-top. They don't need to. They've been holding it down for generations. That's the beauty of a true staple: consistency. You always knew exactly what you were getting, and it was always good. If I'm being honest, the only reason I'm not rushing there now is because I had SO many of their donuts growing up that I might have maxed out my lifetime quota . When you've had that much of something, you need a little break. But that doesn't take away from what they are to the city. Dutch Girl Donuts represents Detroit pride -- resilience, tradition, and community. It's one of those places that connects generations. My grandmother loved it, I grew up on it, and new families are still making memories there today. In a city that's all about loyalty and roots, Dutch Girl stands tall. Forever a Detroit classic.

Well, I must say that the donuts from here are truly amazing and stand out in terms of flavor compared to other donut shops. I understand why people were lined up outside when they reopened and I'm so glad they decided to open back up. I've come here 3 days in a row because the donuts are just that delicious. My favorite right now are the cinnamon roll donuts. You can't just get one, you have to get 2 in order to fill truly satisfied. They're open 24 hours so they're in there making donuts fresh all day long. My cinnamon roll was nice and warm when I came in after work... because who said donuts are only for breakfast? I can't wait to come back.it's conveniently located on Woodward Ave so it's easily accurate and not hard to find. Get here sooner than soon. You won't be disappointed. Get more than one donut!

Went to ask for cream, waited another 8 minutes while the girl who said she would bring it stood at the counter appearing to be playing on her phone or otherwise. Food delivered to our group all except one meal, waited another 10 minutes plus for the last meal... and cutlery because although the diner was not fully seated, the cutlery was "in the dishwasher" while our food got cold and the kids ate with their hands. No refills on coffee were offered, no check in on the quality of our meals. Home fries despite being requested for them to be grilled with onions were deep fried with onion tossed on top. Attempted to charge me for a side of sausage when the kids meal comes with sausage. Was informed we had to leave (an hour and a half after being there) and waitress did not ask if we needed boxes, again I have to stress she did not check on us during consumption of our meal I had to go and ask for a box. Extreme anxiety filled experience. Definitely not an "old school diner" feel even though the decor and name says otherwise. Do better for others as we will not be back!

They're fresh and perfect with coffee, tea, a big glass of milk. I picked some up for a celebration at work and everyone was excited at the site of their name stamped on the box. I also tried the croissant breakfast sandwich and it was the best I've had, aside from anything I made myself at home. It was generous in size and you could easily share. My mind went to grabbing a coffee, bite to eat and a donut when you're starting off a road trip. The egg was about 1/2" thick throughout the sandwich, ham and cheese ratio was perfect, you could taste everything in each bite. I highly recommend this donut shop for friendly, quick and quality service. Will definitely be back!

Yum Yum is the right place, indeed. Whereas they don't focus too much on the fancy over the top donuts you see nowadays, they focus on the quality of old fashioned true-blue donuts. Yum Yum Donuts make quality donuts that stand the test of time and are better than any odd concoction some of these fancy donut places are trying too hard to achieve. I travel the country, and the world, going into different locations all year long. Whenever possible, I always try to find the best donut shop in the area. I'd rather go in empty handed than bring in any of the "fast-food" chain type of garbage donuts that many seem to flock to. I look for the real local donut shops that know how to deliver the goods. This is not only to impress, but also out of pure selfishness. I am a donut lover and connoisseur and grew up with a donut shop in my family. For this reason, I have a high bar however donuts don't have to be complicated to be good. Yum Yum Donuts hit all the marks. Selection of varieties, quality and price. Would I go back? I cannot wait to go back. Yum Yum is my go-to place for quality donuts in this area. When you bring in good donuts, people notice. Sure, people appreciate when you bring in the big chain fast-food donuts, but I have literally seen people put those donuts down when I come in with a box to two of the real deal. This is a fact. People appreciate the extra effort in bringing in the quality and showing your appreciation to them by doing so. Get some of these now, before they sell out for the day!

Monroe Street that it's located off of is under heavy construction currently so it may be a bit treacherous navigating the sidewalk outside, but the pastry shop remains open and continued to enjoy heavy foot traffic during the hour I was inside. The staff members are friendly and recommended the baklava as their most popular pastry, so I ordered one dipped with chocolate and pistachio, along with an iced latte. They had about five small tables along the wall for you to sit and eat at, but the benches are wooden and not the most comfortable for use as a study spot. My coffee was nothing to write home about, but the baklava was flaky and very sweet, definitely one of the best I've tried. They had a huge variety of other pastries too, and if they all taste as good as they look, would be worth checking out too.

The carrot cake looked delightful but the slice of red velvet looked a little dull. When it was time to indulge we started with the red velvet slice and discovered it was a waste of calories if you're a red velvet fan - the cake was dry and the cream cheese icing was anticlimactic. On the other hand the carrot cake was amazing - super moist and got a 2 thumbs up. In addition I will say the staff was very friendly and patient especially with our loads of questions. I will go back but the red velvet will not be purchased again. Also I love the overall look and feel of this bakery but do wish it had more seating.
