Pad See U

First know this is a CASH ONLY business. The food is delicious. Our server took our order instantly. Our tea and waters were brought to the table within two minutes. Lovely environment and great customer service.

I've been coming to Torung Restaurant for over seven years, and every visit fills me with the same sense of comfort and joy. This spot isn't just a place to eat--it's become a second home, filled with genuine warmth from the entire staff. What I Love Most * Pad See U (a.k.a. Pad See Ew) - These wide flat rice noodles are stir-fried to perfection with egg and broccoli in that irresistible sweet‑and‑salty sauce. It's chewy, flavorful, and always spot-on . * Thai Iced Tea - Rich, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet, this iced tea is pure bliss in a glass. It never disappoints. * WAR Soup - A soul-warming masterpiece: chicken wonton soup brimming with BBQ pork, shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and bok choy. It's the ultimate bowl of comfort .

Food is very flavorful. Waitress took our order with no note pad and forgot our shrimp crab cakes. Food was fast. I wanted to post my food on Instagram but after looking at the pic it was GREASY ASF . Just from 15 mins of eating the food my stomach hurts (It did not have any chili in it)

I love Torung!!! They're my go to beside Full Moon House. I've had many of their Asian dishes such as their pad Thai and cashew chicken. None of their dishes have been a disappointment as they're all super flavorful and generous portions. All of their dishes are made fresh to order and are protein packed. I can't wait to try Torung in person as I am sure it will taste even better at their restaurant!!!

We were spme of the only ones in here. It's a hole in the wall Thai Food Spot which is great and lowkey. We were sat down immediately and given drinks within 4 minutes. The Pad Kee Mow medium spicy was pretty good. It did need more meat though. My favorite dish was the Satay. Such good chicken with great maranade. I give this place 4 stars because the tip was included in our check but we weren't told.

Honestly, I forgot I'd ordered from here 6 months ago and worked a double today so ordered after work. And the food I ordered today is genuinely so delicious. I ordered the the yellow curry in mild and it's packed with flavor, veggies, and chicken. I also ordered pork dumplings and they are absolutely worth the hype. I think I just ordered the wrong thing last time because this is seriously good and comforting after a LONG weekend of work.

This review is well overdue -- I adore Torung! I first dined late at night after an event at The Poetry Lounge in 2018!! The interior is unpretentious and comfortable. And the outdated decorations definitely add to the unique charm of the restaurant. The service is swift with no frills. The food is so yummy too! What you're getting for the price is insane. They are SO affordable. $8 for a curry? In 2024? in LA? And it tastes good? Sounds like a win to me! We always order the yellow curry with chicken, crab fried rice (gotta try!), a noodle dish, and crispy chicken wontons. Also to note, the food comes out SO FAST. I unintentionally timed it once and it took like 4 mins lol Some of the cons, that I don't think are worth dinging the rating or not coming at all, include the establishment being cash only -- kinda inconvenient but whatever. Also, my usual go-to dish, drunken noodles, is not very good here. I skip it and get other things. Lastly, when you ask for hot, it's never really thaaat hot so I'll add some of the sauces and chilis. For what they charge, you should be getting a wonderful experience. My other fave Thai spot up the street is good too, but so damn pricey, almost double per dish. So I'm more than happy to dine at Torung on any given night.

I tried picking some out to eat it but, everything was literally skin and mysterious looking pieces of meat.

Over cooked shrimp is one of my pet peeves. Ordered three shrimp dishes and all were well prepared. A winner in my book.

The Pad See Ew is the real deal, it's perfectly fried, utilizes tasty sauces, and the noodles are delicious. My only problem with this Thai spot are the portions, they're small for the price. My meal was provided in a tiny plastic container, it was a little underwhelming. I don't know if they mistakenly packed me a to-go container? Additionally, a soda fountain would be great, only cans/bottles are available here. If you're into a buzzy eateries inside Grand Central Market, you'll love this place. The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. Parking is metered parking or paid lot.

My wife and I came for my birthday outing (she surprised me). Thai is always a "go to" and when we hit LA it's food time. My wife said probably the best she has ever had - crispy, creamy, actual crab sightings in the filling - loved it. Green curry - loaded with ingredients and aromatic and enticing. Eggplant, bamboo shoots lots of meat, veggies - and the curry underneath was loaded with flavor. Medium spice hit just right (I can handle Thai hot but I am taking it easy ok??) Drunken noodles - but an udon version? Let's try it - loved it! Again - plentiful meat, basil fragrance wafting to my nostrils, spicy sweet and savory blended sauce - fantastic. Verdict?
