My fiancée and I decided to give this spot a try during lunchtime. Lucky for us, there was parking. Seems like they never have parking in this plaza. First of all, they sat us down. The first impression was a dirty table. It looked like they didn't clean it before we sat down. Second, it took them over 10 minutes to bring us menus and take our drink order. Third, if it weren't for the fact that we had already placed our drink order, we would've already had left. The restaurant wasn't even busy at all. There were two other groups eating already. After our drinks came, it took them another 10 minutes to take our food order. We got a shrimp chow mein, shrimp fried rice, and chicken pad see ew. It took about 15-20 minutes for our food to come out. The food looked really good. And the taste was just as good as it looked. No complaints there. The ambience was not my cup of tea. It was loud (well, the music was loud) for no reason at all. It felt like I was at night club. Listening to reggaeton. The vibes were just off. When it was time to check out, it felt like an eternity. We had to get up twice to get our to-go plates and pay! Then, to top it off, they made a big deal when I was paying with old money-- a $10 bill at that!!! Saying they couldn't take it!? Ridiculous!! Why would I pay with a fake $10 bill? It wasn't even a $100 bill. This Thai food spot needs to get their sh**t together. Yes, the food was good, but I won't be coming back for the service alone. And how our lunch date ended. read more

Prices have gone up. But still the best Thai fried rice in town. Definitely gotta get beef. What's equally as good here is the rad na beef. Portions are fantastic, but less so with the price hike. Imma still come here though but maybe not as often as I would like. I do strictly take-out. read more

Super good food. I do not eat fried rice because usually it is flavorless but not at Vim. Delicious fried rice, attentive employees, and great ambiance. The only complaint i have is that you have to pay cash. If you don't have cash you cannot eat here. read more

I wish I had taken pictures of our food . My father inlaw treated us to this delicious eatery for some amazing seafood hotpot that was amazing! We also had their fried rice and chow main beef and broccoli. Every thing we had so delicious!!! We come from the Inland empire and it was so nice having some different yet tasty Thai food. Can't wait to go back ! The service was great and the restaurant its self was clean and relaxing. read more

Awesome place and food. We live in riverside and make the trip out to hang out with family. Staff are also awesome and respectful great food service. read more

This place has been my family's go to for decades, haven't been in awhile and didn't know what to expect given all the bad reviews. I got to say the service was good, we were seated quickly, and our order was taken within 5 minutes. The food definitely has fallen off since I've last been here, but it's far from terrible. I would come back again, and I would not be discouraged by the bad reviews left. read more

This is probably one of the best Thai food restaurants I've ever been to. These chain of restaurants are so dear to my heart. From heartbreak to success, I've always come here and the staff are always so wonderful to me. I really feel like I'm going to a friends home and them cooking their most amazing dishes. Seafood soup is a must when you come here! Pork jerky, you'll never find anything like it! Shrimp fried rice, is practically a necessity on ever dish Don't even get me started on the Thai iced tea, it's so refreshing and addicting! Thank you so much Noy (owner) bad ass female boss, for opening up your doors to us. We need this restaurant! It makes the world a better place, for real! Loooooove you Vims!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Great food, excellent service. Have been going here for years now! Has 2 different Pad Thais recipes to choose from.

Vims is my Thai spot, I've been going to Vims since they were on Vermont Ave and 6th. We have a 40 year relationship with the Vim Family, they are the oldest Thai restaurant in Los Angeles. Their traditional Thai food menu has traditional Thai dishes like Glass Noodles with shrimp, Thai Pad Noodles, Spicy Sea food soup, Thai Fried Rice and a complete menu of Thai favorites including Thai Ice Tea. Their main Restaurant is on Hollywood Boulevard in Thai Town. read more

I've been coming to this place for the last couple years with my family and they absolutely love the place the food is amazing the dining experience is even better and the servers are extremely attentive to your needs I would highly recommend everybody to bring their family or friends in common enjoy the food here read more

I've been to this place a few times in the past. However this recent experience was not the best. I must add the customer service was not that bad. Food, was the problem. We asked for sweet and sour chicken, however I felt like it had mainly pineapple pieces, loads of bell pepper, tomatoes, onions and cucumber. The small amount of chicken was very thin, it really tasted like chicken skin had been breaded, fried and then drenched in the sauce . I didn't ask for chicken chicharron I know inflation is though..... however, I will no longer be a customer. I go out to pay for what I like and I think they should not scam people. Ambiance, 85 degree weather with three ceiling fans. It was hot in there. Cash only, with not one ATM in store. Nearest ATM at the corner liquor store which has so many homeless. read more

Vim's always offers great tasting food! I've only been here a couple of times, and every time I've stopped in, I've always enjoyed! The location is very clean and the employee was friendly. He didn't speak too much, but he made sure we had what we wanted. The music was poppin, and the bathrooms were clean. The decor is also nice to look at. We were a party of seven that arrived at 11:30am for lunch. We were the only ones in the building. He quickly seated us and took our drink orders. We all got sodas and he also brought out some cups with water. We mostly orders soups. Two seafood soups, one shrimp with mushrooms soup, one combination chowmein, three steamed rices, and two wonton soups. Our food came out quickly and we all dug in. My shrimp with mushroom soup was ok. Nothing special, and it maybe needed a little more of a kick. This soup contained some chicken looking things but it's not!! I bit into it and it's some type of really strong seasoning, yuck. It tasted like I had bit into a eucalyptus tree. The seafood soup is delicious and you can ask them to make it spicy! The chow mein was the best!!! So much flavor!!! The total was close to $100. The server was nice and the food was good. We will definitely be back again! Parking can be a little tricky and the parking spots are sooo narrow. I guess that's everywhere in LA though... read more

Not the Vims I remember nor anyone in our group of eight. Our usual place on Hollywood Blvd was closed today due to leaking gas, so we ate here. Not the usual Vims treat. Rice was cool, not steaming hot. Pad Thai and Pad Se Ew were loaded with extra liquid and were soggy. Other pork and chicken dishes were equally soggy but flavorful. I won't say that this was a miss, just that we won't be back. Service was great however, although the look, feel, and ambiance was missing completely. I miss original Vims! read more

Vim's Thai Restaurant - Do not come here this place is a ripped off - Thai Near Me - Los Angeles, California

YES! They opened another Vim's restaurant with the same good Thai food and good service. Same owners and some of the same waiters from the Vim's location off Hollywood Blvd. I've been a fan of Vim's for many years now. I don't just go for the Seafood Hot Pot, Fried Rice, Chow Mein like the usual clientele does. Vim has a lot of other good Thai food also. Pretty much anything you order ala carte with a side of white rice at Vim's is tasty. I liked this location because it wasn't as busy as the location in Hollywood. Vim owners, way to alleviate some of the crowds from the Hollywood Blvd. location! read more

the food here is good but the plates aren't brought out at the same time and you'll be stuck eating one thing at a time. there's this server, the one with the bright hair colors that is really rude and also unhygienic. she will cough and then touch utensils and help people out without washing her hands. she always has a rude demeanor every time we've come. anyways , her consistent rudeness is enough to not want to give this place money. read more

The best thai good I've had, been eating at their restaurant since I was 10 years old. I used to go to their 1st restaurant on Hollywood Blvd but the western location is much closer to me now. Various amounts of food and well cooked. Their fried shrimp is an awesome appetizer. The seafood soup is one you must try, as well as the chicken fried rice and shrimp chow mein. You will be stuffed for sure. The employees are nice and get exactly what you want as well. read more

work at Kaiser I used to go there almost every week even at home I live in Inglewood I used to drive way over there because the Combination Rice was the best...but today when I went I didn't check until I got home usually put three shrimp in the combination, only 2, no beef, no pork, just little skinny strips of chicken. No green onions, that makes up the combination. Very disappointed! as I've spent $$ over there.. I'll start back going downtown read more

Not sure if it's just been awhile or if my taste buds have just grown accustomed to ASAVA's Thai food, but Vim's just doesn't seem as good as it used to. LOCATION & PARKING Located on N. Western Ave. in a small plaza. Look for the brightly lit red and white sign. Vim's shares its parking lot with other surrounding businesses so parking can sometimes be a hassle. A rude security guard supervises the lot at night, so beware of him! AMBIANCE & SETTING Never dined in so can't really judge the ambiance or setting. Very family-oriented cuz I see a lot of families there when I pick up my food. CUSTOMER SERVICE Can't personally account for table service since I haven't ate here, BUT Vim's is consistently great when it comes to Take-Out orders. Every time I call to order, the employee repeats my order back and gives an estimated preparation time of usually 15-20 minutes. When I arrive to pick up, my food order is correct, hot, and ready. They also provide plenty of napkins, utensils, chili sauces, and soy sauce packets. **TIP: Vim's accepts CASH ONLY!!! FOOD Ordered Take-Out a few times now, and it's basically a Hit or Miss when it comes to their dishes. Prices range between $6-$14. While Vim's prices are considerably cheaper than Asava's, the quality and quantity of their food doesn't quite measure up. Here's what I got on my most recent visit: Combination Chow Mein - $7.75 - Noodles with chicken, beef, and shrimp, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Sounds good, but was so bland I had to doctor it up with soy sauce and lemon juice. Good chow mein shouldn't need additional flavoring! - Eh, SKIP IT! Beef with Green Chile Garlic and Mint Leaves - $8.50 - Pretty good, but very disappointed with the small portion size. You'd think if it costs more than the Chow mein, they'd give you more! - TRY IT! Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk & Bamboo Shoots - $7.25 - The BEST dish outta the three cuz there were adequate amounts of chicken, creamy curry, and a nice spicy kick to it. - GET IT! **TIP: Make sure you CLEARLY specify your Spiciness preference when ordering! While Vim's is an efficient Take-Out Thai spot, their mediocre food really doesn't leave me yearning for more so I probably won't return anytime soon. read more

When my friends and I come here, it's for their fried rice. Specifically their Crab fried rice. We like that they actually use real crab meat, instead of the imitation kind. Tried their coconut chicken soup, it was very flavorful. Duck larb was good, nice and crunchy. As far as their drinks go (thai tea, thai coffee), they're super sweet. Order a glass of water because you are going to need to dilute the drinks. For $1.50, I won't complain, that just means more to drink! Service is hit or miss, and it's cash only! read more

Not going to lie but I was super disappointed when i first entered the restaurant to look at the menu. A lot of the menu items seemed like Asian fusion food rather than authentic Thai cuisine, which is what I wanted. However, I scanned the menu for some authentic Thai dishes that I knew and they did have what I wanted (drunken noodles/pad kee mao) so I figured I would give it a try since I was already here. Came here to order take-out and the lady at the cashier was very nice. I didn't know what the boat noodles were and it sounded intriguing so she helped explain that it was a soup noodle dish. I ended up ordering that and it was actually very tasty if you like tripe and other beefy parts (i think it also had liver and meatballs). the order was ready in 15 minutes and they packaged the noodles separate from the soup, which I always appreciate with soup noodles. While I was waiting for my noodles, I browsed the menu one more time and saw that they had thai iced tea and was suddenly craving that. There were 2 sizes, small ($2 i believe) and large ($3) so I asked the cashier lady if I could see the cups for the 2 sizes. the large cup was humongous! it was the same size as the take out bowl for my soup noodles so of course i had to order the large and I couldn't have been happier with that decision. a pint of thai iced tea all to myself hehe! it was delicious, not too sweet. I hate when thai iced tea is overly sweet but this one was perfect. Glad I decided to give this place a try and i look forward to trying their other dishes. only thing to note is that this place is CASH ONLY so bring cash with you! Also, the restaurant was pretty spacious and had a lot of seating if you're looking to come with a group. read more
