However, today's visit was extremely disappointing. My son has special needs, and consistency and familiarity are very important for his comfort and cooperation during appointments. Despite this, he was assigned a different hygienist without any prior notice or consideration for his needs. On top of that, we were made to wait while another patient who arrived after us was taken ahead of him. There was no explanation, acknowledgment, or apology at the time. When I brought my concerns to the front desk, the only response I received was, "we dropped the ball," which felt dismissive and did not address the situation in a meaningful way. This entire experience showed a lack of communication, sensitivity, and respect for my son's needs. I truly hope this office takes feedback like this seriously and makes improvements, especially when it comes to accommodating patients with special needs. Because of this review I wrote on Google I was called and told me my husband and 4 children can't be seen at this office anymore because I blasted them to the world.

My first appointment (over TEN years ago) was with Dr. Spinelli directly when he knew I was nervous. His calming words were enough to make me come back for my first cleaning. My Dental hygienist is Crystal. Although I've seen several other Hygenist there, I prefer her as she keeps me focused so I don't get nervous. Everyone else did as well, I just felt a great connection with her. To see any bad reviews here makes me laugh! It's impossible. The staff is awesome, all of the hygienists are great, and Dr. Spinelli is by far the best dentist I've ever had. I wish I had gone to his practice years before!!!! I have referred several people to Spinelli dental (Three of which didn't "like" the dentist either) and all love the practice. My children go there as well, I decided one year (due to insurance) to send my girls to a "children's dentist" instead. Needless to say, I returned them back to Spinelli as we immediately didn't feel the trust or compassion as we did at Spinelli. My fiancé also used to hate going to the dentist. Years ago when he was in the Navy and was told he needed his wisdom teeth pulled. He was so nervous he decided volunteering to go to Afghanistan would be easier. Needless to say, I came into his life and when he told me this story I immediately talked to him about Dr. Spinelli and yup... he got his wisdom teeth out and did great! I trust them! I trust them with myself, my fiancé and especially my children. I'm very comfortable there and believe anyone else would too! I live in West Henrietta and it's an easy 20 minute ride for me! Trust me, DON'T pick a dental office based on "closest to me". Give them shot and good luck !

He truly is exactly where he belongs. Rosanna the receptionist has become such a pleasure to talk with, always pleasant and full of energy. She works with you for the best available appointments. Kay the treatment coordinator works with you for payment options and is super helpful and very supportive. Check into the star membership, great dental care at an affordable price. Marissa is my hygienist and the most amazing individual there. She is so patient and caring towards me from day one. Even when I'm there for a procedure that does not require her she makes sure to stop in and check on me.., that's above and beyond. The entire office is astronomy themed, more like a cool science museum than a dental office. Even the bathroom looks like you're on the moon. Sitting in the chair is relaxing, they give you a blanket during dental procedures. There's a screen showing astronomy information and trivia as well as pictures of the staff. I'm so lucky to be a patient here, Dr C and the staff are so talented at not just the dental procedures but just as important the human aspect.

I originally posted this review under a different location by mistake, even though I had never…read morevisited that office. This review is intended for the correct location. This dental clinic is part of the URMC hospital system. In addition to regular dental appointments upstairs, they also offer urgent dental care for patients who are not already part of the system, which is incredibly helpful in an emergency. They accept most insurance plans. My only minor complaint is that the signage and check in process could be clearer. If it's your first visit, it may take a little extra time to figure out exactly where to go and how to get started. For routine dental care, you can receive comprehensive treatment here, but be aware that scheduling an appointment may take some time. This is on the first floor. If you just need a dentist call in and make an appointment with general dentistry. For urgent care, you complete a form, wait to be called, and then are seen based on the severity of your issue from my view point. From what I understand, Mondays and Fridays tend to be especially busy. I arrived a few minutes after 8:00 AM for a dental emergency, and the waiting room was already full. Even so, from check-in to the completion of my visit, the entire process took about an hour and a half, which I thought was quite reasonable considering the circumstances. Of course, the total time will depend on the treatment you need and how many patients, staff and what they need to take care of. The staff were pleasant, helpful, and professional. The dentists, hygienists, and other clinical staff were knowledgeable, friendly. One thing to note is that you may be treated by dental professionals who are completing advanced training or working toward licensure in the United States. Many are experienced dentists from other countries. Rest assured, they work under the supervision of licensed dentists and instructors, so you are in very capable hands. The clinic is easily accessible by public transportation, and there is a parking garage available on site. However, parking is not validated I know it's annoying and believe me people were annoyed. Oh well.....

Their advice when they pulled my two front teeth was advil. I give up on advocating for myself and everyday since May 11th when that procedure happened I've had at least 1 if not 2 seizures a day. They dont care about the disabled. They will lie and say they dont take medicaid or medicare and then leave you in pain for apparently what could take up to 3 weeks which if you are a compromised patient like myself could end up in some not so pretty situations. I've gotten to the point where I've given up and don't care if I have more seizures or even break my 9 year grand Mal free streak. I have a no medical assistance order and when I die due to their incompetence my family will be rich.

This is what made Contemporary Dentistry seem to be a safe space to get our teeth cared for. We knew that this practice tended to charge more for their work compared to other dentists but it didn't stop us from going there for care. We also had a few surprise bills, or charges that we felt based on our insurance should have been covered. Rather than addressing these issues we let them go because we felt that they likely had good reason and bought into the ideas that our healthcare provider knows better than our insurance company.. It made sense to us so we just paid as asked and kept quiet. Not long ago my wife needed dental surgery and was told the work would cost over $3000. We were told it was not covered by our insurance. That turned out to not be true. We now know that we would have been able to get the work done under our insurance elsewhere but we were not properly informed about this reality. Instead we were led to believe that this surgery needed to be paid for out of pocket. We trusted that these people were concerned about our healthcare and well being, after all we know them personally and have since before we were clients of theirs. Trusting them was in hindsight, a serious mistake. Because of the surprise bills in the past, in combination with this experience, and my wife's frustration and intuition that we had been taken advantage of, I called the office asking if Harold Messer, the office manager/owner could call me personally so I could discuss what we had been through. I did so just after getting my own cleaning done and making an appointment to have a filling redone that had chipped/failed. Jen, at the front desk, assured me that Harold would give me a call to discuss our experience. At this point, I still believed that this was the place I would get my teeth taken care of and that the issues we were experiencing were just mistakes that could be owned and improved upon. I felt like my phone call was going to make the practice better. To my great frustration and dismay I never got that call back from Harold. Instead I received a snail mail letter from the office stating "At this time our relationship seems to be missing the important element of mutual understanding. At this time, I think it would be in your best interest to seek dental care from another dentist". As you can imagine, I feel heartbroken and now realize that all along I may have been taken advantage of. That this mutual understanding that is being referred to could only be the understanding that this practice can do no wrong and that simply asking for a conversation about our experience is a sign that we are no longer blind believers in their work. The reality that their tagline is "dentistry with a heart" is ironic. Shame on Harold Messer for making Anna Belouis DDS sign the letter we were sent because I am confident that this letter is from and written by him, because we had a wonderful relationship with Anna. I hope Anna finds a less toxic place to work. She was not even the dentist that was involved in my wife's situation. My thinking is that he is hiding behind this employees name because he knows how how egregious this misconduct is and how unethical his business practice is. The letter to me signifies this is simply how they do business. I feel terrible that I led my wife to believe this was a safe and ethical place to get healthcare and I will learn from this experience. We are considering legal action in hopes of sparing others from an experience like ours. If you or your loved ones are considering getting healthcare at Contemporary Dentistry I urge you to look elsewhere as this has been the most unprofessional healthcare experience of my lifetime. I still cannot fathom that such a letter, firing us as patients, was sent to me simply for asking for a conversation with Harold Messer. Shame on you Harold Messer. You should know better.

I then called my dental insurance company and found out that the reason for the denial was that they requested better X-rays and they received the same ones twice. I ended up canceling my appointment and scheduled an appointment with my original dentist. I got X-rays and was approved for coverage from my insurance but my original dentist said that one tooth did not need a cap and that it was bad to grind out the good enamel. The other she said was 50/50 where half of the dentist May recommended caps. But she didn't think it was necessary. By not capping saved me over 1k.
