Green chile Queso & Chips (V)
Caroline H.

Location was perfect. Plenty of parking and plenty of seating inside. There may be a small patio during warmer seasons. You order at the register and get a number. You then go find a seat and get your drink. They also have a bar area you can sit in. The food came out pretty fast. Everything was delicious. The green chili queso and chips was to die for. It was so good. We made sure we brought the leftovers back. I had the fried avocado taco and the green chile pork taco. They had really amazing flavors. The green chile pork could have had more sauce and a little more flavor but it was still good. The fried avocado taco had two pieces of fried avocado, cheese and some sauce. All those flavor together were perfect. I didn't know it had onions in it and wish I would've known so I could ask for none, but I ate around it. My guest crossroads and the steak fajita. She said the crossroads was amazing. Steak fajita was still good as well. This is going to be a new taco spot for me. It was very good and fast service. Didn't even need a server.

I decided to put my taste buds through a bipartisan showdown and ordered the Democrat and Trailer Park tacos at Torchy's. Spoiler: it was a mixed bag. The Democrat taco tried to win me over with some fresh avocado and greens -- kinda like a politician giving a speech with a few good points, but I wasn't totally convinced. It was decent, but I kept waiting for the wow moment that never quite showed up. The Trailer Park taco? Definitely the wild card. Fried, cheesy, and a little over the top -- like that cousin who shows up uninvited but brings chips. It was tasty, but also left me feeling a little guilty afterward. Overall, Torchy's tacos are fun and flavorful enough to keep you entertained, but I walked away wondering if I should have just stayed home and cooked. Three stars because sometimes politics (and tacos) just need a little more substance.

I had to make a drop-off for a client in Louisville, Kentucky, which is widely laid out compared to Lexington, but that's like comparing apples to oranges, right? So, I am looking for a place to grab dinner. Once again, I've grown tired of burgers, at least for now, so I checked Yelp for restaurants and blam! There was Torchy's Tacos in Jeffersonville. I was surprised since the last one I had seen was in Atlanta, Georgia. They had a combo special called the Trailer Park for $10 something, which was a good deal. I always detest ordering everything separately when I'm not overly familiar with a restaurant. So, I stayed in my comfort zone. I had a pleasant conversation with the manager on duty. He appeared to care about the customer's satisfaction, which was refreshing. The staff was great, and the food was fresh. Also, if you haven't been to Torchy's Tacos, it is a specialty taco joint similar to those higher-end burger restaurants like Smashburger, Red Robin, etc. On a side note, their chips with nacho cheese are plentiful. However, they added a lot of cilantro to the top of the cheese. If you're like me and think that cilantro tastes like soap, please ensure you let them know not to add it.

Service is quick with counter service. We ordered the trailer park taco and crossroads taco. And that queso dip, get it!! It's amazing!! Next time I literally will get that as my meal. Lots of options and they serve drinks as well.

Was too early for check-in so stopped by here for a bite. The reviews seemed like the tacos were pricy (they are) but worth it (they're good if you have extra money which I know not everyone does). The tacos are slightly bigger, well-filled, but also cost $5-7 so you're looking at $11-15 for 2 tacos for more of a light lunch size. Quality-wise, the tacos were reallly good. I'd advise not to get the chicken fajita because it's good but not worth the premium you're paying. I also got the Vagabond which is marinated grilled steak, bacon, chimichurri and pico de gallo - the first half of this was super good. Great steak flavor complimented with Latino flavors. Though the second half was a lot saltier for some reason - but still good. Overall, the tacos here are good but pricy. There's a lot of variety also to choose from which is a plus when you're in a group (so there's something for everyone).

An EXCELLENT Torchy's location. Very friendly employees, fast service, dining area is always clean. I love Torchy's because there are so many options to choose from, many unique tacos, and lots of vegetarian and vegan choices. This location is very convenient to I-65. I often exit the interstate and stop here when I am traveling past Jeffersonville.

My mom & I went here for lunch. When you walk in there are menus to stand in line & order before you have a seat. You can also sit at the bar & they'll wait on you there. The staff was friendly & happy to help. We took a menu to sit down while we figured out what we wanted. Almost Everything we ordered had a little kick to it. That is right up my alley so I loved it! I got the Brush Fire Jerk Chicken taco & loved every spicy bite. Well, next time I may do mango on the site & just add a little. But overall a great taco! My mom got the Trailer Park Fried Chicken taco & loved hers. She added lettuce & cheese. Both of our chicken had great flavor. We got the Queso without chorizo & we really enjoyed that. The chips are fresh & perfectly salted. Definitely recommend for a flavorful, well priced lunch! I love that they have to go containers & bags by the fountain drinks to help yourself. Also, I wanted to note they don't sell any type of ground or minced style beef. That didn't bother us at all, we just didn't know so I wanted to share :)

The best tacos I've ever had in my life. When I took my first bite, it was like no other. I can't wait to go back. I love that I can refill my drinks by myself. There was also the bar area, which I would like to try later. Suggestion to owner: Everything was perfect, but the restrooms could be cleaner. I don't like the sticky floor in the restroom.

I had been saving going to Torchy's. This is my 666th review and I can't think of a better spot than the devilishly-logoed taco spot! The billboards on the highway remind me that "Life it too short for s#!%&y tacos." The little devil flying beside it is carried over in the pitchfork door handles, the red features throughout and the illuminated letters that spell out "DAMN GOOD" inside. You order first thing at the counter. The menu is supplemented with a secret menu that has additional tacos. I don't know why these aren't just on the regular menu and think its weird that the "secret" menu is printed, laminated, and handed to someone who is visiting for the first time. But maybe I am thinking about how In-N-Out's secret menu works. These are tacos, dagummit! The food is very good and I quickly filled up on two tacos. Tasted great! Seating is plentiful and broken up into a few areas. There's even a few stools at the bar (which is full service, btw). I loved the lighting and fixtures! They gave it a much more upscale look. That's not to say that Torchy's is cheap. Tacos will easily run you $5-8 each. These aren't value meal items, but they are some of the best I've had. These are NOT s#!%&y tacos!

If you like tacos, whether corn or flour, this place is delicious. The tacos are smaller, so recommend getting at least two. The bar lady is amazing.

They start you with these funky fried crisps. No salsa or pico-but on the bright side you don't fill up with chips. Good thing, because the portions are ginormous! It's rare I can't finish a meal, but my shredded beef with mole was more than enough for a takeout box. I ordered the platter, so my meal came with rice and refried beans. We had the leftovers for lunch the following day. My wife ordered two alacart items. Shrimp cerviche and a chicken taco. Both well prepared. And as a side bonus, the tortillas were outstanding. I'm not a fan of corn tortillas, but these home made gems had flavor and didn't fall apart like packaged ones. Same with the crispy corn shells for the tostada. Great crunch and real flavor. Beer was served cold along with a frosted mug and a slice of lime. Everything is made to order. One fella was the chief, cook & bottle washer. And waiter. He speaks English when he sees you struggling with the menu. He made us feel very welcome. This is a down to earth diner that hasn't seen any updating since day one, but the food is excellent, the restrooms are clean and the service was perfectomundo.

I was able to explore the menu but I knew I had walked in for a ceviche. Glad waitress clarified the typo on large shrimp ceviche's price, which immediately translated to honesty. Thei give you a complimentary savory broth with hints of seafood flavor and potatoes which is a welcoming opening. The flavor was excellent the tostadas are like home made non commercial, loved them. Their give you fresh lime or already squeezed natural lime juice. I had a campechano (mixed) taco and a pastor taco. Which they have for .99 on Tuesdays so I will be a regular on Tuesdays too. There is parking on the front and on one of the sides of the place. The team was quick with food, attentive to all needs and very professional and friendly. And the price value is amazing. There are many items I still have to try but it is in my top 3 list for Mexican food in Kentuckiana!

La Catrina is in a small building, about a block from the bridge. And we were able to get a table on the patio for our family plus the friends and their kids who were walking the bridge with us. Our server was quick and attentive. I got a margarita, which hit the spot. We enjoyed the chips and dips appetizer. For my meal, I got the Tex-I-Can burrito, made with brisket, black beans, herb lime rice, chihuahua cheese and salsa. It came highly recommended by our server, and I'm glad I listened to him. My kids got cheese quesadillas that they enjoyed. One other fun thing: Be sure to check out the ladies restroom if you go. There's pink neon hung on the wall that changes the color of the wallpaper depending on if you have the overhead lights on or not, which my daughter thought was the coolest thing. La Catrina has a great vibe that works well for adults or families -- a great stop if you're walking the bridge.

Our server quickly came and took our drink orders. I went with a large margarita. My wife, disappointed when told there were no beers on draft, asked for a bottled beer. She was brought a Miller Light in an aluminum "bottle". We finally got a Corona Light in a glass bottle. We ordered a shareable order of nachos. The nachos were actually pretty good. But since they were shareable, one would think the server would know to bring extra plates. Nope. Maybe even extra napkins? Nope. My wife decided she also wanted a small salad. The server suggested the Cobb salad. She was able to make it a small at half price. But, a Cobb "salad" requires lettuce. There were a few shreds buried amongst the cheese, chips & chicken. Essentially, another order of nachos, with ranch dressing. We asked for some salsa and our server made a point of telling us there was no charge. Typically, LaCatrina charges $3 for chips & salsa. The menu is quite limited. La Catrina doesn't try to be a full service restaurant. Tacos. Burritos. Quesadilla. Tamales. No enchiladas. No fajitas. So, fair service. Easily solved with better training. And decent food, but nothing to really set La Catrina apart from the pack. Except maybe the gummy worm that came with my margarita.

The food is average Mexican food. Not pictured are churros we ordered that were super soggy and wet. The sauces they are dressed with made the hard shell texture completely unappealing. I had told my grandson about the mole I had on our first visit, and he wanted to try it. My wife and I ordered tamales and my grandson ordered the Mole Oaxaqueno. I ordered a Michalada ($10.00). Not long after ordering the manager returned to our table and informed us they were out of tamales. That being the case, my wife ordered the Lunch Chicken Fajita which we were told was on special today. It's normally ($10.99). I ordered Tlayuda, which is basically a Mexican Pizza ($17.00). My wife had asked for a side of the mole sauce. My grandson was served his meal AND an extra plate of Chicken Mole. We all looked at each other like why did he get extra chicken mole. My wife received her Fajita, but no side of the mole sauce. Do you see where this is going? My grandson loved the Chicken Mole. My wife said the Chicken Fajita was bland with no seasonings. She did not like the Fajita. My Tlayuda was huge. However the base was a huge flour tortilla and it was grilled to the point it was like a piece of leather. You couldn't cut it nor chew it. It was terrible. IMO the Tlayuda is not worth $17. I would not order it again. My Michalada was good. So I get my check. My wife's Fajita was not on special we were charged the regular $10.99. The extra plate of Chicken Mole, which was supposed to be a small side bowl of mole sauce was charged as another meal. I did not challenge their misunderstanding of what we wanted because my grandson ate all of it. All in all, we would not reorder most of our meal. This restaurant charges a 4% surcharge for using a credit card, so I took cash to avoid the 4%. When I got my change it was a $5 bill with 14 one dollar bills. The server apologized and said that's all they had. If they're going to charge for using credit cards, they should have cash on hand to make change.
