A nice visit! We came on a cool overcast early June afternoon. The building and grounds are real nice. The host was very helpful and nice. We ordered our tastes and sat in the covered area. Our host turned on a couple of heaters and that made it real pleasant. As for the wine, we liked the Dry Riesling and ended up buying a bottle. While we only really liked one of the wines, I would not dissuade you from coming here. It's setup well and the views are really nice. read more

Congratulations Lindsay and Nolan on your engagement! What a perfect place to make a special memory. On the back of the property they have a GIANT heart wrapped with grape vines. Could not ask for a more romantic place. We witnessed the love between two beautiful souls and then went to the tasting room to celebrate with wine and some golf. Yes you heard me! They had a bucket/barrel and if you could make hole in one you would get a bottle of wine on the house. Now this bucket is a far ways away and the chance of making this shot is slim but not impossible. We did not make the shot on this trip but It definitely was fun watching everyone try! They had tables set out for everyone to enjoy the overlook and views while enjoying their wine. It was suggested to mix and match to create a beverage so I took and chance and was pleasantly surprised with the taste of Apple of my Elia and just peachy 50/50. We purchase a small batch of cherry bourbon for home as well as took part in an event the facility was holding on this particular day with Lakuna Links and permanent jewelry. Charming little winery that offers a limited, but very good, choice of ciders and wines. We lean toward being wine snobs and we really liked the boca noir (sweet) as well as the zweigelt (dry). The peach and black cherry cider was also really good. Some of the best we had in the area. It's a fun place with a gorgeous view, corn hole, and a hole in one game that rewards you with a free bottle of wine (we watched for quite awhile and no one won-- it looked pretty tough). The ambiance is beautiful but unfortunately the wine is undrinkable. I'm not sure what happened but it tastes like pure corn syrup. If not too sweet, it's bitter like licking a ripe cranberry. I'd be back if they improve their flavors. I've tried almost all wineries in the area so any others would probably be worth the drive. Place was busy so I'm unsure about the service. read more

The views here are stunning! A truly must stop just to take it in.  They built a fantastic tasting room with lots of stone and polished wood put together in a regular style yet with artsy touches. They charge $6 for 6 tastes. Neither of us liked their wines, but their cider varieties are outstanding. Johnny Cider and Sangria being my two favorites. The only real issue is they are so small they can't bottle their ciders, so you have to drink it within 7 days from a howler before it goes bad. This prevents you from buying multiple varieties or even multiple of the same one for a later day. Hopefully everyone will find this gem and help it grow big enough to be able to bottle their ciders. The service was excellent. Overall a 5 star review. I would definitely return and make sure you check out the 2nd floor viewing area. read more

The wine here is good (not great), but the main reason for only three stars is that they do not offer tastings! You can get an expensive flight with larger glasses of wine, or a glass. There is no way to just try a bunch of wines to see what you like best. With so many wineries in the area that DO offer tastings, I plan to go elsewhere next time. read more

This business doesn't care about COVID safety as they won't enforce mask wearing and hide behind some BS claim that HIPAA and the 4th Amendment protect them from having to enforce it. The plethora of outdoor seating seems like this place is perfectly setup to keep going through COVID, but the staff don't wipe down the tables like they have posted all over every table, so how can you trust them?? My husband and I always stop into Torch Lake Cellars when we are in Bellaire. There is an excellent selection of wine and they even have cider now! We have been very impressed with both the wine and cider and it seems like every time we stop in there is something new to try! The vineyard and winery are absolutely beautiful! We bought a post and even get a discount now as well! The staff is very social and friendly. We always try to stock up before we head back to IL. We had tried to stop at Torch Lake last year during our annual visit but unfortunately the tasting room was closed. This year we made sure to visit when they were open. After 16 years of touring the area we were excited to try something new. The tasting room is stunningly beautiful. My carpenter husband was impressed with the woodwork and the views are breathtaking. Unfortunately the service and wines didn't match the splendor of the establishment. We were the first visitors that day and the lukewarm reception we got from the young lady working suggested that perhaps she wasn't ready. We chose our tastes and before we were even done choosing our 6 she had started pouring. Part of the experience (for me) when visiting any winery is learning about the wine, the blends, the vineyard..anything. She was all pour..serve..stare. No information, and even when we tried to engage in conversation it was met with "ummms" and "I don't knows" When trying their apple wine and my husband asked what varieties were used in this, she looked at him and said "it's just apples, there's no grapes in this" Um, ok last I checked apples had varieties too.... None of the wine came home with us. I'd visit again someday to give it a second chance but I don't think we'll make a special trip for it. read more

Nice cozy little winery off the beaten path. Love the aesthetics of the building and our host was so friendly! Wine was delicious and there was a great view from the third floor! I would recommend. We called a bit ahead of time because it was an off-season and we were very unsure about getting to the winery in time before their tasting room closed. The owner was very accommodating and was even willing to meet us by appointment at another time if we needed it. We arrived when both owners (son and father, I believe) were there and they were very nice.. We accidentally misread the hours posted and got there late but we were welcomed with open arms regardless. Right away, we saw how beautiful the tasting room was and the wonderful details put into making the experience. We tried probably six different wines and almost every one of them was wonderful. They were very willing to let us try anything we'd like for the little money paid and were quick to give us backgrounds on how each wine was made and why it was unique. They told us we had to climb the beautiful, handmade staircase and go see the view from the upstairs. We were met with a panorama view of the entire area while they bottled our growlers for us. I would definitely recommend this winery to anybody stopping by! They had a lot of sweet wines (maybe not the dry winers favorite) but they promised there was a lot more to come in the spring. read more

Wonderful experience tonight at Torch Lake Cellars. The winery is very quaint, beautiful interior with much love put in to the tile floor and winding staircase (a must see). Tasted several wines/ciders that were excellent. After tasting we moved out onto the patio with a glass of Sangria and Peach Mango cider - love the atmosphere, could have stayed much longer, but time got away from us. This is a regular stop for us when we are at our vacation home in the area. It's a great location. The inside of the tasting room is charming. Step outside to their perfectly situated patio and enjoy the rolling view of three beautiful lakes. Love this place, the location is beautiful, the pricing is more than fair and David is always a blast to talk with. You can buy a bucket of golf balls and swing away out back, which is one of my kids favorite things to do. The table overlook the valley and part of the lake and it's a great spot to sit have a glass of wine and bring a sandwich or snack and just breath. My wife and i had a great afternoon here trying wines and ciders and enjoying the view. The employees here were very personable, engaging in conversation and answering our questions for over an hour. The cider is excellent, strong but not overpowering. This place is beautiful on the inside with hand carved tables, wine racks made from bourbon barrels, and a wooden spiral staircase. We brought a group of 60+ to Torch Lake Cellars from Shanty Creek Resorts/Cedar River. It is located on a hill with a beautiful view. It has a charming tasting room, but a bit smaller than others, so we broke our group into 3 busses, and rotated their arrival. Charlie and his parents were very accommodating as I set this event up months prior, and on the day of our event, Terry Berg and staff were waiting for us, and were very informative and friendly with our group. When we were done sampling, a few of us went out on the cliff and tried to hit golf balls into the barrels placed in the field down below. None of won any free wine from Charlie that day, but we sure had a lot of fun. Our experience at TLC helped set the tone for the whole conference! Thank you! read more
